  1. The "promise" I am referring to is the clear icons on the box and website advertising the features of the head unit. If you bought a 2014 car today that promised features like avicsync and carplay but didn't actually make it until the 2015 year model you'd be a bit angry wouldn't you? I'll concede that carplay could be delayed by apple, but there's no excuse for "selling" avicsync when there is no avicsync.
  2. Alright, don't flame me for the question. Let's say Pioneer busts their "summer" promise for carplay and they have already been misleading on Avicsync. At what point are they liable for false advertising? They will have promoted and sold a product lacking two features for the better part of a year. These "promised" features sold a lot of units over competing companies just because of the icon on the box and the promise that they will be here someday. Will they be rolling out the next generation of "Nex" head units before it's actually usable? If so, we were all screwed and overcharg
  3. That or open up the hub and disconnect the data wires going to the charge only ports the radio wouldn't "see it" but would feel it. You'd be splitting 1.6 amps 4 ways so it wouldn't make for much of a charger. A standalone would be the better option for multiple charging ports.
  4. A quick search brought me here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00DA35JTQ?pc_redir=1404658441&robot_redir=1 From this thread: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?6977265-Installing-Pioneer-AVIC-8000NEX-into-the-TTRS
  5. 1500 is a good number but I wouldn't go over 2500. That's where iPods are capped so the Nex is probably somewhere around there.
  6. I rip my movies to be played on anything I would watch them on. With an iPod or the Nex, yes, a lot of the quality is wasted. But that movie can also be played on a tv and look decent so I don't mind the large file sizes with flash memory as cheap as it is.
  7. Handbrake here also. Most of my ripped DVDs are "same as source" resolution at 1500bps. (around 1GB each) all are mp4s. I've played from both USB ports with thumb drives and the micro card.
  8. I have used monoprice cables for everything. USB, cat6, HDMI, and everything in between without fail. All these cables come from china anyway it's just that radio shack marks them up about 1000%. You pay shipping so it's worth getting a few things at once to save.
  9. you need to hook up the speed sensor wire (pink one) to your vehicle's VSS wire. I had to do quite a bit of googleing to find where to hook in up in my Subaru. Hit up the search engines.
  10. it is about half a meter short of the included aux input cable, not sure why they did that. I ran them both to the center console on my 2010 Outback and the USB barely reached but it works.
