The article says there was a problem in that another company already had trademarked the CarPlay name. Maybe this just means that Apple has worked out the problem and can now file for ownership.

Just wondering...has there been any official statement that the next firmware update will definitely contain anything other than CarPlay? I haven't seen mention of avicsync or anything else.

As the tweet said, the early August date was just a guess on their part. Sadly, I don't think Pioneer itself knows any more about this than we do at this point. Looks like it's all up to Apple now.

I just got this email yesterday from Pioneer in response to an inquiry about the update: Thank you for contacting Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. At this time we are being told before the end of summer, we appreciate your patience regarding this matter. Curtis Product Support Representative I guess that's really kind of a non-answer, though. I mean, if it comes out tomorrow or if it comes out on August 31st, both would still be before the end of summer. But, it does look like early summer is no longer in play. The waiting continues....

You can also do a long press on the physical home screen button (the one in the middle). Hold it for a few seconds and you'll hear a double beep. Then, you can talk to Siri.

That's what I'm hoping as well. With Apple running the software side of things, hopefully the iPhone will be able to communicate with the head unit a bit more seamlessly, and allow for smoother functioning and a better experience running things like music and navigation simultaneously.

Good advice, and some you should definitely take for yourself, too. Hopefully CarPlay will soothe all that anger you have and make us all happy campers.

I understand what you're saying, and I agree that we all just want CarPlay to come out so we can enjoy it. In fact, the only real problem I had with this entire thread was with koneill. I said one thing and his first response to me was to call me a d*ck, an a**, entitled, etc--all in the same post. Why be so hostile? It just doesn't make any sense. That's probably what set me off, because believe me, I am not usually one to argue with strangers on the internet. Anyway, time for all of the hostility to end. Hopefully, we can all agree on that and go back to waiting for CarPlay.

I love it when "internet tough guys" can't even admit when someone makes a valid point because that would interfere with their high-fiving each other. Of course, they never said it would be summer on planet Earth either. Could be a long wait.

If it means anything, Pioneer just changed the release information on their website from "early summer" to "summer 2014." Guess all that discussion about whether it's still early summer right now was irrelevant.

While I'm glad to have a target date, this is exactly what I have a problem with. Why does one random customer get this info while everyone else has to sit and wonder? I'm glad to have a better idea of the release, but why do we have to find out about it in such a haphazard way?
