  1. "Weeks not months" doesn't really mean anything and it doesn't even make sense. They could say it will be available in 6 weeks, but that's the same as about 1.5 months but they didn't SAY 1.5 months. They can express time however they want. I say it will be available in microseconds, not decades. Hopefully 2.628×10^12 microseconds, not 0.008328 decades.
  2. I haven't seen this issue, and I listen to SiriusXM extensively. The only thing I've seen is when the unit (6000) powers up and it's already set to SXM, the channel name displays as Channel XX, where XX is whatever the channel number is. It won't show the actual channel name until I change the station. If I go back to the original channel, it will display the name correctly.
  3. The AVIC 5000-8000 units are only sold in the US and Canada, from what I can tell. The European versions have different model numbers, so I don't think the UC matters.
  4. I've not heard any. The only alert I've heard is the stern warning that I'm going 31 in a 30 mph zone.
  5. Great demo! Thanks for sharing; looks like we're having the same frustrations with AppRadio/Live. I have to say, for me, they just aren't worth the hassle. I would love to be able to use Waze and/or MotionX Drive but it's too distracting even when I'm parked, let alone on the highway at 70 mph. Come on CarPlay! lol
  6. From the Operation Manual (page 69): 1 Press the HOME button to display the Top menu screen. 2 Touch the following keys in the following order. (gears), then (wrench/screwdriver) The “System†screen appears. 3 Touch [input/Output settings]. 4 Touch [smartphone Setup]. The “Smartphone Setup†screen appears. 5 Touch the following settings. Device: Select the device to be connected. Connection: Select the connection method.
  7. I understand your frustration; I struggled with this yesterday until I figured it out. tekki is correct: go into smartphone setup and change it to DV adapter. The Avic will disconnect ALL connections to your phone, so I just restarted the AVIC after that. You will no longer be able to use the USB1 to listen to music on your iPhone. Also, the first time you start it up, AppRadio Live will take a little time. I strongly suggest you sit in your driveway for a bit playing with it... going between the different screens, etc. so you get used to it. It's also not real intuitive to get Waz
  8. Has anyone tried this out with an iPhone 4? The app listing in the iTMS show compatibility with iPhone 4, but I'm wondering if the 4 would work without the AV adapter. Just a curiosity on my part!
  9. As a follow-up, I connected the reverse wire and the GPS problem "magically" disappeared! It's been too hot to futz with finding the VSS yet, but I'll do that soon. Thanks for the help on this!
  10. Thanks. I'm looking through the factory service manual now. For the reverse wire, I can just run a line from either of the reverse lights in the tail assy., right?
  11. I didn't connect either. It seems to be working fine today, though. I didn't buy the unit for navigation, though, so if it doesn't work that's fine. I've always used turn by turn on my iPhone. Any ideas on how to hook up the VSS without getting behind the instrument panel?
  12. Pressing the reset button got me halfway there: instead of driving backwards, I was going sideways. Pressing it again got it back to normal. For one trip. Now I'm going backwards again. UGH!
  13. Hi all, I installed the AVIC-6000NEX in my car a week ago and it worked fine until today. I noticed this morning the GPS thinks I'm moving backwards. I've reset the navigation options but am still having the same problem. This was working correctly until today. Anyone have ideas on what I should check? Thanks!
