  1. Sorry, that sounds about right. I was looking at the wrong part #. They also make one that plugs into the IP bus port, the PXP-02. Full retail is $49.95, you should be able to find it cheaper....
  2. The rear DVD unit receives its power from a harness behind the factory head unit, I don't remember the color wire, but I have done it a few times on Explorers, Excursions and Expeditions. For some reason, light green with a red stripe comes to mind, and I was able to get audio into and out of the rear unit, but only video into the rear screen(through the aux jacks on the front of the fact. DVD), EXCEPT on the 05-up explorer, the dvd would power up, then shut down if there was not a dvd in it, so the aux jacks were no longer functioning. Just trial and error.....
  3. The Pioneer ND-BC1 is a great camera, but uses a bracket to mount it. Hitchcam makes one that goes into your hitch receiver and is removeable... otherwise, there are a slew of cameras out there, online and in stores, just check around. The Z1 will accept nearly any camera, just be sure it is waterproof and is for automotive use...
  4. First of all, the tailgate will make a horrible ground since it is not physically connected to the vehicle. If you are only using the camera for backing up, you could tap into your trailer plug, if you have the round plug under your bumper. Light green will be your reverse wire, thick black being ground. Otherwise, you will have to run your power for the camera all the way up to the cab of your Avalanche. Remember to make sure your polarity is correct at the camera, unless you need a $50.00 paperweight that smells like burnt electronics....
  5. Do you mean the round joystick button with the 4 little dots on it?
  6. I've got several of my customers with the same complaint. It seems that some of the development plans weren't finalised when the gps mapping company built their database. Not Pioneer's fault, they don't build the map, they just use TeleAtlas' data, although it may be inaccurate.
  7. The screws are M5 metric fine thread screws, available @ most hardware stores, just be careful with the length as to not hit anything inside....
  8. On the D2, the interface does suck. On the Z1/N3 the interface works MUCH better, with a better GUI, playlist display and much faster response to user inputs. The piece I described from Peripheral earlier would probably do you just fine, and give you video input, also
  9. You could put the DVD player or PS2 anywhere except the front bumper.....
  10. The Pioneer XDV-P6 will display all tags, MP3 and WMA, and give you full control from your AVIC-***
  11. First of all, car dvd players have gotten cheap. Farenheit has a 1/2 din unit for around $150. You could also use a PS2, the newer slim one. A 400 watt inverter should cover a home dvd, PS2, XBox, etc....
  12. There is also a part from Peripheral Electronics, the PXP01, a cable that plugs into the flat connector on your iPod, has RCA connectors on the other end, audio and video, and charges your iPod at the same time......about $20-$25 or so....
  13. You could also use the CD-IB100II and get control of your iPod from your touch screen, along with a full display
  14. The CD-RB20 does require power and ground connections to work properly. It has a pass-through P-Bus connection and 1 set of RCA connectors.
  15. Only a Pioneer cd changer will work with a Pioneer head unit. You could use the Pioneer iPod adapter, if you have an iPod. Another unit you could use is the Pioneer XDV-P6 in-dash 6-disc DVD changer-a very cool piece. It will play MP-3 discs, WMA, and pull MP3 and WMA text tags.
  16. Unfortunately, the Z1 will not work outside of North America because the European GPS uses different satellites and GPS systems than the US. The Z1 won't recognize this system - if anyone remembers the 'line of sight' speech from Independence Day, you'll understand.
  17. Yeah, you shouldn't have any problem replacing that system. On the other hand, if you had the factory nav.........no fun.
  18. Does your suburban have factory navigation?
  19. Do you have amplifier(s) in your system or are you using the speaker outs?
