  1. Hmm... Strange. I'll have to call them back up. Maybe the girl I was speaking to had an 1d10t error
  2. Hey Guys, I recently bought the Pioneer GEXP10XMT XM Satellite Radio and XM-NavTraffic Tuner. I have the XM working perfectly. However, when I call XM to activate the NavTraffic portion, they say they need a radio ID. I attempt to give them the radio ID on the actual XM tuner, but they say this does not work. She said she needs the radio ID of the AVIC-Z1. Has anyone ever hooked up the GEXP10XMT unit and activated XM radio and also NavTraffic successfully? If so - what did you have to do in order to do so. Thanks guys. Nick
  3. How does the USB and SD video/mp3 playback work? that is my real selling point!
  4. I currently own the Z1... I am being drawn to the new F series for the fact I can play music/videos off of a USB stick or SD card. At this point - would it be smart for me to sell of the Z1 for the new f series? I hear there are issues with these units. Thanks Guys. Nick
  5. I bought my unit in April of 2006. I am guessing that it was made in January, 2006. I sent my unit in for repair last week. They told me they updated the firmware and it should be arriving at my house sometime this week.... Is this firmware update considered the "Bluetooth Update CD" update? Should the 2 ground wire bypass work on my unit? Thanks and I appreciate all the help, guys! Nick
  6. I sent my unit into Pioneer and they were unable to confirm the issue.... They upgraded the firmware and sent it back to me Friday.... I HOPE that I get it back in working order.... If I get it back and it isnt actually fixed and is still acting the same I will call up Pioneer and flip out on them....
  7. I am sending my z1 into pioneer for repair. I'll let you all know how I make out.
  8. If u use a remote, are u able to change the volume level?
  9. So I took out the entire unit this weekend. I hooked up power, ground, and one speaker. As soon as the unit turned on - i started to push buttons... Still no sound. I played a song off the hard drive - which worked fine. Looks like I have a very strange issue with my Z1. I am going to have to send this thing into pioneer - but it has been out of warranty since april/may. Has anyone dealt with having their unit repaired through Pioneer? Are we allowed to bring them to authorized dealers or must we mail them into Pioneer? I am a very unhappy camper right now
  10. sounds like the illumination cable is definetly disconnected. its the orange ILL wire (pretty sure its orange)
  11. I tried to use those - but they werent long enough. I used the Metra kit for a Ford Fusion.
  12. I bought the Metra kit for my Z1 install. I never thought of using crazy glue.... Did the screws that it come with work for you all? I had to find screws in my garage and cut them down in order to get this installed. If not - what screws did you guys use? When I take my deck out this weekend - I am going to glue EVERYTHING on that plastic kit!
  13. Jimmy - I am a pretty knowledgable installer. I have a lot of experience with this type of technology. I am going to do a total reinstall of the deck. I am going to unwire everything and while I have the deck out with the power harness attached - I am going to perform a test. I am going to hook-up the following wires: -Red Power -Yellow Power -Ground This will allow me to turn the deck on while having absolutely NOTHING hooked up to it. I will then take a single speaker - and will wire it directly to one of the 50x4 speaker outputs on the deck. If I still do not hear any
  14. F350 - how is your signal strength? Go under system and look at connections.... I had this issue too - and it was because of a weak signal. I rewired and placed the antena on metal which solved my issue. Let me know what you find.
  15. OK - I am pretty fed up with the fact I do not hear the navigation voice anymore or any of the system sounds. I am thinking of sending it into Pioneer to get repaired. My question is - do they upgrade the firmware, etc automatically? I currently have the original firmware on this unit and am able to do the original bypass. If they do - is there a bypass for the new firmware? Thanks.
  16. I got the SWI-PS for my Z1/Ford Fusion. The directions called for a 100 resister.. They give you a 150, so I used that. I hooked it up as the directions stated - but my buttons arent doing anything. I didnt have time to troubleshoot yet - but has anyone else seen this? I programed it to 9 and it blinked 9 times. Is there anything that I have to enable on the z1 to use the wired remote?
  17. Anybody have an idea as to why my system picks up the FM signal but not the AM? I NEED to be able to hear my mets games! I have a 2006 Ford Fusion.
  18. I disconnected everything from the Z1 with the exception of the power/speaker harness. I hooked up one speaker to the unit and powered it on. Still no dice. I called Pioneer support - but that ended up being a waste of time. The guy on the phone didn't seem to bright. Only thing he recomended was disconnecting everything - including the power for an hour. That should drain out everything inside the deck. If that doesnt work - I dont know what the hell to do. Its over 1 year old - so if I send it in they are going to bang me with a repair fee. If I cant get it working - I will just hav
  19. Create a ground loop. Take a wire and screw it onto the side of your z1. Take the other end of the wire and tape it to the metal on your RCA connector. I had the same issue with mine and greating the ground loop listed above fixed me right up.
  20. Here is the issue. I have been using my AVIC-Z1 since last May. No issues at all. Lately though, I have been having some wierd issues though.... -No audio in front left speaker when volume is low. Once I turn the audio up louder, the audio comes on out of no where on the speaker in question. -The front right speaker has audio coming out, but is very low. I have to turn up the volume really high in order to get the audio to the correct level. During this process - i hear a lot of crackling. Once the audio is normal, I can lower and resume listening to my music normally. -FM works, AM does
  21. If I remember correctly - these settings are only available while a DVD is playing.... Am I incorrect?
  22. Of course!!! So I re-ran everything and set it up on the metallic pad on my dash.... I get about 4-5 bars lit up. Not nearly as good as it was outside... But the thing is, when I originally set this up the signal was amazing and it was always full. I called Pioneer and they are going to send me a new antenna. Hopefully this resolves it. How many bars of signal strength do you get?
  23. Hm.... I never thought of putting it on the metal in the dash... if it connects to the frame of the car then to the surface..... I am going to try that! If i get no signal again I am going to assume that I screwed the wire up on the re-install. Ill let you know my outcome... THanks for the quick response dude.
