  1. ok, I'm going to buy focal speakers and an amp to power them. budget isn't really an issue, can anyone reccomend models for 6X9's, 6's and an amp to power them (that will be installed under the passenger seat)?? thanks a lot! Jon
  2. Because I drive with my headlights on during the day, my screen is always in night mode. Putting in a toggle switch and wiring it to the illumination wire of the AVIC would allow me to toggle between day/night mode on the D3 while leaving my headlights on all the time, correct? Does anyone know of any pitfalls to doing this? Thanks, Jon
  3. Because right now it doesn't do anything, and probably never will, so why not put it to good use for something fun?
  4. Yeah, I agree...I think it would be a pretty cool feature, or mod for the AVIC
  5. Does anyone know of an external thermometer that has video out? I would like to plug this into one of the AV inputs of the AVIC-D3 to display the outside temperature...
  6. Thank you for your responses. Budget isn't really an issue, it's more of just wanting to keep the car clean, spacious, and inconspicuous. I think I'll get a small amp to power the four speakers and mount it under a seat. Thanks again!
  7. I don't...if you tell me where to look I will be more than happy to check for you.
  8. yes, i guess it does. I thought the confusion with the other posts was that the image was reversed on the monitor...making for confusion while looking at the monitor.
  9. I have a 2000 Accord EX, I'm looking to replace the factory speakers (6X9's and probably 4's??) with after market to be powered by the AVIC-D3. (No amps). I just want decent sound quality, nothing too powerful as I have small children and don't care too much for booming bass, just want clear crisp sound... 1. is it even worth it? 2. What brand/models would anyone recommend? Thanks! Jon
  10. I have the pioneer backup cam, and the images are not reversed. If looking strait ahead at the monitor (D3), the objects are on their respected sides. For example, an object on the drivers side is on the left hand side of the monitor
  11. What bluetooth system did you buy? Are you sure you have a compatible BT module?
  12. one more thing, I use a GREAT program called ID3-TagIT for editing my ID3 tags. http://www.id3-tagit.de It's very very intuitive and easy to edit massive amounts of data. ( I've used it to edit 1,000's of songs in one swoop). This is a great program to update your genres in one shot.
  13. thank you for these posts. This will certainly make my life easier. I often wonder why we have to come up with creative ways of doing the obvious...not just with the D3 and Ipods, but with all media entertainment across the home... Anyways, great forum here, so very helpful!
  14. thank you I will try that, can this be done with a dynamic playlist? I'm not at my itunes computer right now, but will be interested to play with this when I get home tonight..
  15. Purchased and installed the GEXP920XM not realizing the traffic unit had both traffic and XM radio in it. (planned to upgrade later when my area was improved with traffic flow data). Is there simply a traffic module to add on, or do I have to bite the bullet and purchase the entire traffic/xm radio module, and scrap the P920? Thanks, Jon
  16. Don't be scared of the bypass! It can literally be done in less than 5 minutes. Very easy, with instructions found here on avic411.com What you should be scared of is having a 160gb ipod connected to the D3. I have mine with 132gigs worth of music (approximately 35,000 songs, well organized, album art, etc), and scrolling through artists is a HUGE BURDEN. A HUGE oversight in my opinion not being able to search for artist and jump right to them. Anyone come up with any tricks on sifting through artists/albums with HUGE libraries? Of course playlists are fine, but on the fly suggesti
  17. I have the 8830 world edition on Verizon Wireless, and i was able to register the phone, transfer the address book in it's entirety in one shot, and use the voice commands. I think it's unfortunate that when I have several phone numbers for one contact, it doesn't differentiate them. (i.e. home, mobile, office, fax). It just labels them as c1, c2, c3, c4. I have full contact info for all 400+ of my contacts, and it's impossible to tell if I'm calling their office, or mobile, or worse yet, their fax machine. Other than that, it's great. one other thing, if you rename a contact,
  18. haha, yes it exists first thing in the morning to get the traffic and weather reports. Unfortunately I live in an area that is a big city with traffic, but not covered by XM Traffic I just want to be able to easily go from XM1 to FM1 to AM1, but i guess that can't really be done. oh well.
  19. This may seem like a ridiculous question, but is there an easy way to switch between AM and FM without having to scroll through FM1 FM2 FM3, etc? I'm used to a navi with a menu that had easy access to FM, AM, and XM buttons... Also, is there anyway to have a Preset list of your favorites across bands? For instance one screen that has the following: FM-P1 FM-P2 XM-P1 XM-P2 AM-P1 AM-P2 Thanks a lot, and thanks to everyone for all of their posts on here; made my install go flawless including bypass. (AVIC-D3, Bluetooth, iPod, Steering wheel control, XM tuner, reiwview cam)
