  1. And gas prices and something called "online search" which I'm not sure what it is or how to access it. Also, it includes a navigation app for your phone with a very similar interface to the NEX. You can sync info between the phone and head unit, and it remembers where you parked your car. The thing is that it includes the entire nav database which bloats the app to 2-3 GB. If you have a phone with limited space this is a problem. I suppose there are times when having a standalone nav app for you phone without having to download map info could be handy. But the consensus seems to be tha
  2. I got the Pioneer mic and it made a noticeable difference for me. I have a Honda CRV with a factory amp and component speakers (tweeters/mids/sub). My Pioneer now makes much better use of the tweeters and sub using Auto EQ. When I change the listening position to Left Front (Driver), I get perfectly balanced stereo sound. Some tips: 1. You need to do the calibration somewhere COMPLETELY quiet. Engine off, no talking, no cars passing, no planes overhead, no birds chirping. 2. Put the mic as close to where your ears are when you sit and face the mic forward (usually the front of the driver
  3. Yeah I hear ya. The only thing I've found so far that Avicsync has that Android Auto doesn't is current gas prices in the area and slightly more detailed weather. Can't speak for the parking info since it doesn't seem to work. FYI - They include a free year of services and 30 days traffic. After that it's $15.37US/year for services, $23.53/year for traffic. The traffic part boggles my mind, Android Auto has built into Google Maps, and if you have a 8100 you already have free lifetime traffic lol.
  4. I don't *think* you have to reinstall updated maps for the 8100, the firmware updates the nav database to an even newer version. **Edit** No, you're right, after the firmware update it wants you to apply the patch again.
  5. Sorry for the late reply, I've been off the forums for awhile. It's easy to install without bubbles. Use lots of soap and water and you just squeege them out. Don't forget to wash your hands first and keep your fingers nice and wet or you will get fingerprints on the inside. Of all the screen protector installation methods, I find the soap and water one the easiest because you can adjust it before it dries and it's easier to get the bubbles out.
  6. I got a custom size protector from Best Skins. It cost about $14 and you can usually find a 10% off online coupon. Here are the dimensions I used for a perfect fit: Width: 166mm Height: 84mm Corner Raduis: 1mm Film: Matte Overall Size (just for ordering purposes): 200 x 140mm This will cover the entire glass, except for a 1mm undercut on both sides (as recommended by Best Skins to prevent peeling). You don't notice the undercut unless you look really, really close. There is a slight loss of sharpness (to be expected), but no more fingerprint problem. Less glare, but not totally gone.
  7. I just installed my 8100 last week. I can confirm that you can switch between Car Play and Android Auto just like Nolarola described. The 8100 smartphone settings drive which one comes up if you plug both in.
