    AvicSync news

It is still lightyears behind google... by any means.. and with Auto gaining traction, it wont be long until Waze finally gets their app in there... We have traffic updates through Pio's setup, but its lame in comparison. I feel as if this is pioneer trying to answer the call that many have been complaining about, needing this avicsync.. just because they "paid" for it, it's on the box, right?? Which really means nothing if you look anywhere else.. so they answered... and ho hum, big deal... when instead they should have just trashed the whole concept and went with a refund of some s
  2. This has been my method so far... it's a minor annoyance.. Trying something now to see what happens. Stay tuned.

I am at a loss as well over the value of avicsync if you've already got android auto with traffic and such.. Other systems I understand, but can anyone tell me what else I get out of avicsync that I can't do through Android Auto? Maybe I'm missing the point... No way am I spending even more money past the price of the unit.. That's absurd.
  4. You could opt for another device than the Maestro since it is not officially supported. Since you don't get any of the fancy stuff the maestro can do with the pionner units anyway, it's kind of a waste of money IMO. I use an AXXESS AWSC-1 and everything works prefect, including all steering wheel controls, including the push to talk for siri/android. May be a cheaper option to just switch out your interface module, get your money back on the Maestro. If you do go this route, please solder all connections, don't just crimp or twist, needs solid connection, but worth it.
  5. Did a better cleanup of my files. only music files, minimal folder structure. Read the drive up to 100% multiple times while driving around, turning car on and off.. Whew! Then I make a stop somewhere, and it does it again, NEX load screen for longer than usual to black screen with no way out of it. Going to try yet another drive, I guess, I thought I fixed it.
  6. Thanks for the response. Since the iPod is doing the indexing of the files for the NEX unit, with the unit just being a second screen, I don't think it's considered the same as a drive with a bunch of music files on it, requiring the unit to index everything. I'm going to clean the drive and try again, not being so lazy this time and actually organize everything better.
  7. This happened to me recently, car wasn't turned off, no music was playing, but the system was still on, pulled out my USB key then turned car off.. When I plugged it back into my PC, it was unreadable... all the way down to hardware level, wouldn't let me reformat or anything, stating there was a hardware malfunction. Checked to make sure nothing was physically wrong with the key, it was fine, Looks like these NEX units really dig their claws into removable media. Just make sure everything is off before pulling it out.
  8. I'm pretty frustrated over the fact that this 8100 can't manage 3600 music files, flac, wav and mp3. This has happened on fat32 and ntfs, 128 and 64 gb types. I trimmed it down from 4700 or so to the above 3600 thinking that would help. Thing is, sometimes it will boot up fine, index the files and start playing while indexing, but thats not so often. Most of the time it will sit on the initial "loading" screen then just go to black. First time that happened I freaked until I realized it's my USB key. I know a lot of you have had no issues with this. Am I missing something i
  9. If you have any other usb devices plugged in, take those out and then try. I would also disable any anti malware/antivirus on your phone, they could be hijacking the connection.
  10. If you want cutting edge Android, then you should go with pure android, in my mind. That would be the Nexus line. They always get the latest updates first, with nexus 6 having the highest res screen. I had a LG G3, which was great, but provided zero compatibility with Auto or AppRadio. That being said, I wouldn't bet on their G4 doing it, since it's the same phone with a few new things. I haven't used my Nexus 6 for appradio yet, just Android Auto. I've been curious, and I have an authentic slimport adapter, so I will try to test it this weekend.
  11. After having a tempered glass protector on my Nexus 6, I don't know if I can now go back to plastic protectors.. So I looked, hoping to find one for the 8100/8000, no such luck. I am guessing there's no way to make a custom tempered glass protector?
  12. I found a few via amazon for the 8000nex, which is the same screen size, I'm going to try this one out, will let you know how it goes. If not, I'll go the custom cut route, but pretty sure this one will do what I want. Appreciate everyone's help. http://www.amazon.com/Lexerd-AVIC-8000nex-Anti-glare--Dash-Protector/dp/B00KGKLAL2
  13. I've mentioned this in other posts, but I've learned the ASWC-1 needs a very strong connection to work, may need to use butt connectors or solder them since twisting the wires together doesn't always work. I also would see if there is a firmware update for the unit. Be careful if you have the older version of the unit since a normal usb cord may fry it, you'll need their usb cable for do it. Their newer versions of that unit use normal USB cords. Not sure about the connect to smartphone thing... I can say that it has gone away for me. It used to come up but after connecting a phone, it
  14. These metra units require a very solid connection. I would check to see if they even soldered them to the appropriate wires. More often than not they just crimp or twist them. Metra units always need to be soldered... I also agree that this could be exposed wire shorting somewhere. Not a fun thing to diagnose, so have them check all of your Metra units connections first as that will be easier.. and cheaper if that ends up being the issue
