  1. Some time ago I corresponded with someone whose buttons failed after cleaning the screen. He did it in vertical fashion and some liquid was allowed to drip down the screen and entered the housing below it. After that his buttons started failing. As for repairing it, I would first see if you can purchase a new display assembly from Pioneer. If so, then I would risk taking the old on apart and try and repair/clean the switch membrane/contacts. Another alternative would be to buy or make a remote switch for it. Most controls are supported via the remote input (volume, skip, etc.).
  2. Did it get wet... did you use anything to clean the display that might have dripped down in that area?
  3. Anyone have one of these yet. I have heard they are not compatible with Android Auto on the 4100NEX. Looking for confirmations.
  4. Just confirmed this... audio played by the head unit (HD Radio, disc, SD card, USB drive) is interrupted by android auto prompts. Only issue is there is a much longer pause to resume than with Android Auto sourced audio.
  5. Waze is not yet Android Auto compatible. Although it was announced last year, and confirmed this year at I/O, we have yet to see it. But once an Android Auto compatible version actually does ship, it should work as designed on any Android Auto unit.
  6. What kind of temps are we talking about? Have you tried removing the display from the vehicle when it is really hot out to see if that is what the heat is affecting?
  7. Must be a sammy thing then as that works here on Moto and Nexus phones.
  8. Go to the menu in the Contacts app and select 'contacts to display'. Choose something other than 'all contacts'.
  9. In my truck... the TA was way off, so was the phase of the sub. While I loved what MCACC did for my HT, there are too many boundaries and speaker directions in my truck for this thing to succeed. Maybe better than nothing, but I got much better results using a tape measure (for the TA) and my ears.
  10. Does Google Play Music sound any better elsewhere? My experience was that the audio quality was very poor (unlistenable on my main system via Chromecast or Google TV), which is why I don't use it.
  11. What? OP can auction off their contributions on eBay, but no joy for me? )c:
  12. I have the answer you seek, but it'll cost you $35.
  13. Do what I did... build one of these (I think the total cost was about 5 bucks). http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/81233-i-now-have-steering-wheel-buttons/&do=findComment&comment=332877
  14. I have to think the available horsepower for indexing a volume is not what it could be. I don't know what indexing/cacheing algorithms are in play, but they seem painfully slow with even just a few thousand files.
  15. How big an SSD, and how many files are on it?
  16. I have seen timing issues with mine (so have others I think), where it gets confused based on some reasonably fast interval between ON and Crank (during which the power is disconnect) and Run (when power is reconnected). If I always wait a couple of chimes after turning the ignition on before cranking the starter, it always starts up fine. If I forget to wait, and just move it straight to crank, often times I will see a very long startup delay. HTH
  17. Sorry I'm late to this party. When installing, run a cable from the hard wired remote input to a suitable location, and then build one of these... http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/81233-i-now-have-steering-wheel-buttons/&do=findComment&comment=332877 If you're like me, you'll find the infrared remote clumsy at best.
  18. Rename the files starting with a number (IIRC iTunes does this automatically if you have track number metadata), or use Mixtrax to create play lists. It is puzzling why pioneer ignores track number in the file metadata when it considers artist, song, album, and genre... go figure.
  19. So you have a 4100 and this worked for you? My understanding was this only works on "AVIC" units. In any event, I installed the micro bypass on my 4100 and it works fine.
  20. We're talking about the "AVH" 4100 here. Get the microBypass.
  21. I used the mic that came with my SC-07, which appears to be the same as the accessory mic offered. And while I was a big fan of what MCACC did for my system connected to the SC-07, the NEX Auto-Cal failed miserably. It got the time alignment wrong, sub phase wrong (which is not surprising given the time measurement issues), and the levels, crossover points, and slopes were far from ideal. So... IMHO, nomatter what mic you use, if you use autocal as your starting point you are doomed to failure.
  22. Do you ever drive with gloves? Do any drivers have long nails? If so, you may actually prefer the resistive screen.
