  1. I have to send my unit back to pioneer to have it repaired, or replaced... Have a couple of questions.. Its 200 dollars, a flat rate, or so they say. Will they basically just take my unit, and send me a reman unit? Also, I tried to fix the problem myself, so a couple of the screws in the back of the unit have obvious screwdriver marks on them. I was thinking I should probably replace these with fresh screws prior to sending it it? What type are they? and wehre could i purchase them?
  2. Send me a private message with your contact info. I am in richmond, and if you are willing to come here, I'd be glad to do it for you. Be sure you have the second set of input wires. Or else its a bigger pain in the ass.
  3. In this situation, its obviously not random. They broke into the guys car the same time, both instances, within days of having his shit installed. The most likely culprit is the intallation shop. What, are installers rich? I think not. In fact, the majority of them are low paid (less than 15 an hour), and would be the type to steal. The installers on this board, probably dont fit that description, but unfortunately, a lot of them do. So lighten up.
  4. They recently busted two audio shops here, and two thieves that were friends of best buy employees. (they, being the cops). The audio shops were just basically taking customers info, and then watching them, and stealing their shit. Customers with alarms, the alarms were disabled, or the horn disconnected before they left the shops. Pretty shady, but in your case, I'd think about going somewhere like circuit city, where thats ALOT less likely to happen. Also, at circuit city, you can give them a bogus address, etc, just to be safe.
  5. any idea where this internal fuse is on the circuit board? I'm fairly electronic savvy, although it would seem by this situation, I was a retard. I was just too lazy to get a volt meter, and thought my memory was better than it is... Man this sucks... I'm thinkign it wouldnt be over 200 to fix this right?
  6. bump!!!! anyone else have any idea on what I did, or more importantly, how to fix it?
  7. so.. unfortunately, like a dumbass, I connected my avic to a 12v drill motor, like ive done dosens of times while trying to adjust the faceplate/trim bezel to allow the faceplate to open correctly. Only this time I hooked the wires up backwards... Now it wont turn on.. Is there an internal fuse somewhere on this unit, or did I basically ruin it? It's a z1. Yes, I know I'm an idiot, and no, I didnt have an inline fuse hooked up. Please dont bash me, I'm already depressed enough.
  8. Ouch PASSAT... low blow... I had my first avic installed in a car by Best Buy, they had it wired to the parking brake, which was a complete pain int he ass. I was on http://my.is (a lexus owners page) tryign to find a way to bypass this feature... It referred me to this board... However, you accusing/joking with me reminds me of another question.. Is there any way to put a security code ont his, so mine can't be stolen? Thanks for yoru help, I was only being a dick because I thought you were intentionally being a smartass I apologize.
  9. c'mon hyperite.... no shit... I know I'm new to the forum, but seriously, was that helpful at all? Any idiot on earth realizes it comes with an antenna. I had it installed in a previous car, and its ziptied throughout the cars wiring to the rear roof. Rather than spending 2 hours taking all the panels/center console out, and cutting zip ties, I left the antenna in the old car. I wish I would have, but didn't. Does anyone know what type of connector is on the end of the antenna?
  10. So I'm installing a z1 into my new car, a Lexus IS300, and I'm already having to shell out a hundred bucks for the TYTO-01 factory amp interface. So now I'm being really cheap. Are there any alternatives to paying 60 bucks for the pioneer antenna? Ive found a couple "universal" ones online, but I'm not sure what type of connector it uses. What are my options??
