  1. There aren't any pics of the connector end which is important. I say just with OEM from Pioneer.
  2. ^^ Really? I was unaware the older D units had photocell sensors for auto dimming! I'm thinking either the Z series is going to be scraped by Pioneer. I have not heard any rumors or any sneak/spy shots of a new revised Z4 unit so I'm thinking that the Z series is going to be done by 2009. Or knowing pioneer, they'll probably include a map update and call it Z4
  3. XM weather would be nice without buying an additional reciever. As for the auto dimming feature, I would be just happy with an option to set the dimming based on time of day. For example, Where I can just have it so that between 7am to 5pm, it stays full bright no matter if I have my head lights on or not. Its a problem for me when I use my headlights during the day because it rains, and the unit dims. (some members on the forum solved this by adding a bypass switch for the illumination wire).
  4. ^^ I agree, plus its faster to type in the zip code as opposed to a city with many letters. But knowing Pioneer track record, I'm thinking we won't see the Z-series anymore. I guess we'll find out at CES 2009.
  5. I mean it works ok when it does work. I also heard there is a noticable lag after you push a button. Reason I am not installing the PAC unit is if the unit decides to go on the fritz, that means I have to tear up the dash, go back to the wiring and thats something I cannot do because its can mean more issues everytime I do that. Maybe some PAC unit owners can chime in with a better perspective.
  6. N5 has a larger 7 inch LCD! I guess if you got a super cheap deal on the older models than thats a good thing especially if you are suffering from the bad economy and looking for a lower price on a unit.
  7. Not yet. Perhaps you can ask a Pioneer Rep. That was the primary reason why I opted to use the . Its got all the buttons I need -voice command, bluetooth, volume, and even a quick button to pull up the phone book menu. Plus, I've heard its a bit touchy when it comes to reliability of the PAC units.
  8. One new forum member is attempting this, you should ask him/her. http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=20208
  9. I don't see why they don't take advantage of using a 7 inch LCD for the F-series.
  10. Great backgrounds. These work the Z3 as well FYI>
  11. No, it doesn't support other languages , so if you have KPOP songs on your HDD, you have to translate it or use Konglish.
  12. Improper shipping and packaging from the sender. Find out how you are going to fix this and have them reimburse you every cent.
  13. Just for benchmarking purposes for you F-series owners The Z3 back up camera is almost instantaneous at about 2-3 seconds after startup. That means you can operate your camera without waiting and has the OEM Navi style functionality.
  14. ^^ You can give that a try, but I never had to do that with mine. Straight out of the box, all the buttons worked.
  15. Thread with a vote poll on what features that owners would benefit from in the Z4 http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19037 Some Z3 POI Icons thread http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18422 Z-series vs F-series http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18835 Screen size is a deal breaker for me so I personally went with the Z3 and its large 7 Inch LCD screen.
  16. just joking, but seriously, there are tons of threads already.
  17. If your contrast + brightness settings don't fix it, then its probably your camera = DOA

  19. You must be confused with 3D map mode with Detailed City View (available in certain Metropolitan Cities). The detailed city view shows buildings, city blocks, and other details. In order to view in city mode, you first must be in the area that has the detailed city view like LA, Seattle, NY, etc. You can see if that option is turned on by going into the Displayed info menu in the Map tab.
  20. Check your settings, Twin Map View can be viewed in 2 different modes Check your settings, if you have a Z1, then your Twin Map view mode probably is in 2D. From your main menu screen, it should be under the MAPS tab, then Displayed Info.
  21. azfitness, what year and sc model do you have.? I have seen a pic of an install before somewhere.
  22. Yeah, its probably the phone issue. My LG phone connects immediately after the unit's startup splash screen shows.
  23. Wow, I guess thats why I don't drive a SUV or truck, do they really have blind spots in the front too? I thought it was just open fields and oil rigs in Texas. You parallel park in Texas? haha Just kidding.
  24. Echo doesnt exist for me. But yeah, it picks up alot of background/road noise. Its because it doesn't have the latest BT technology like noise cancellation or filters.
  25. So let me see.. You said you like the stability of the Z3 unit over the D3. And you like the HDD so it leaves you with a DVD/CD drive to be used for music and also to rip music onto. These are some the exact reasons why I have a Z3 over the D3. I like the snappy route calculations since its from the HDD. However here are some things that you might need to know and hopefully these won't be deal breakers for you. 1) IPOD Interface is not very good. Its slow and many users complain that it takes too long to scroll through the playlist. 2) Bluetooth is good, but
