  1. not the 7100 doesnt have text-to-voice either albeit it was really hard to find that out its not listed anywhere as having it or not till i finally got to play with the unit seeing as how portable garmins have it i dont see why it was left out of the 7100
  2. ao your saying that apple shouldnt put in encryption for their new video rental service and should stick to their old fimrware simply because last years product doesnt work with the latest apple ipod and its firmware? its obvious pioneer shares as much blaim as apple, i dislike apple as much as the next guy but this doesnt count as a "100% apple's problem"
  3. it all depends on the area your in. sometimes the shortest and fastest routes can be calculated wrong especially if your city tends to add new streets or areas to it in between. I live in Miami and whenever i go visit friends in homestead i left without a nav since the whole zone they live in is just blank nothingness on the 2007 disc. Also some people have had slight issues when driving too close to parallel roads and the gps thinks your on that street, but all in all i think the nav is really good it took me about 4 hours to get used to its navi screen and details but i wont go anywhere with
  4. a dual layer burner costs about 30-60$ these days so buy one its worth the upgrade and definably alot cheaper than the $250 Pioneer charges for one. If your going to pay for a backup copy from someone i suggest skip it and go with a DL burner, you can always use it later on incase u want to make more copies or some other things.
  5. It's 100% Apple. These ipods weren't out when the D3 was made. It was made to work with the last generation ipods. It's not Pioneer's fault Apple turned even douchier and decided to require an authentication chip to be able to use video output on it's new models. even if apple decided to throw in authentication later on for their ipods its still in pioneers court to do a firmware update, the auth procedures have been out since before the release of the devices back in Q3 of 2007 so Pioneer has had several months to work around this and since the ipod feature is probably their mostly hype
  6. its pretty simple its Pioneer's issue to fix, there have been a few updates since 1.01/1.02 and pioneer is capable of releasing updates for compatibility but i havent seen any.
  7. you can get it through torrents piratesbay has it, not sure if this is violating forum rules but i believe if someone owns a D3 then they are entitled to reproductions of the disc and i dobt any D3 has ever come with a 2006 disc so it should be excusable.
  8. check your D contacts for any spaces or symbols in the names or numbers, basically anything that isnt alphanumeric and then go on from there, it sounds to me like its not liking a symbol in 1 of your contacts, as the poster above mentioned it could be the * for the DC number.
  9. yea thats the best way to go since the resolution from the 6" screen isnt that far bigger than the ipods the videos look great when encoded right. also i suggest everyone use a 5 gen or lower ipod, unless theres been a workaround for the 5.5 "Classics" to work in video mode.
  10. HiFi thats a good idea, anyone have anymore info on this rebate? also if the rebate is for the unit or are they going to try and sucker us into an install?
  11. well that isnt much of a worry to me as its hardware downsides, the strada is Panasonics first HU so you have to think of it on par with Pioneers first HU's things like music ripping can always be added later with firmware updates so thats not much to worry about and the ipod takes care of mosts music needs since ppl usually have mp3's which the z2 cant rip to the hdd either. the only downside i see to the strada is the hub at that price it basially means if you want to buy 2 addons for it, it will run u about as much as buying 3 addons for the z2 and as far as i know navtraffic still isnt ava
  12. does it load the wallpapers to memory or does the usb with the pics have to be plugged in at all times to keep them.
  13. damn march? the 5120 looks really nice and the UI too, i would grab it because it seems to get the best features from the D3 and put it with Garmin and its internal drive.
  14. looks really nice although i dont like the dials on this or the D3. which version is the step up that was mentioned? i dont see it on CF.
  15. Another factor that ALMOST made me pick the d3, the z2 is blue, my car lights are orange, d3 would have fit in better... I noticed the foreign version of the z2 has bluetooth built in, with orange lights.... I think its called the avic-hd1bt avic-hd3bt? im on the same boat as far as the coloring goes, as long as the map database isnt outdated compared to the z2 i can probably manage with the D3. yea i noticed the ONLY youtube demostration on the avic Z and its regional couterparts was that same unit, it was a couple of minutes long but gave alot of info in my opinion THAT is what the
