  1. Here is what I had to do with my 8830. 1. Register the phone with the D3 2. Make sure they are connected 3. Go onto the D3, go to that bluetooth screen and his transfer phonebook (or whatever it says, i cant remember the exact name). At this point you should notice that the D3 and the phone disconnect from each other. 4. Go into your Blackberry and go into the Bluetooth screen and find the Pioneer, highlight it, hit menu and Transfer Address Book 5. Drink a beer
  2. I dunno if its the same as he 8830 but this is what I had to do. First, register the phone with the AVIC-D3. After that, go onto the AVIC and click Transfer Address Book. When you click that it will disconnect your phone from the AVIC. Go on your phone now and go into your Bluetooth menu and you should have a listing for Pioneer BT unit. Click the Menu on that and then go down to Transfer Phone Book and select that. It will go through and transfer everything over.
  3. Those discs will not function 100% in a D3. Maps show up on the screen, but you will get no voice guidance and a few other quirks it seems. I would just stick the the D3 discs, they are the most current for the D3.
  4. Yes, sorry if I wasn't clear above but that is what I suggested there. You can probably just buy those little connectors and make you own without buying a whole harness...but whichever is easier to get is probably the better route.
  5. Where did you connect the MUTE wire from the Metra harness to?
  6. I have noticed this same thing with my Blackberry 8830, very annoying! Kind of makes the "hands free" portion useless.
  7. Yes you can connect the parking brake wire to the black ground wire and that will work fine. Antenna Control you don't need to hook up. Not sure on the Brown wire, haven't had experience with onstar, but I would guess you would have to hook it up to the original MUTE position on the D3 harness. Blue/white - Yes, the remote amp-on wire from the D3 is on the secondary harness with the RCA connectors. Connect that to the amp turn on wire from the Metra. The power antenna is a little different because there is a setting in the D3 that controls when the Power Antenna wire is hot (eit
  8. Please stop saying that you can download the D3 discs off of a torrent because you can't. All of the torrents are for the CNDV discs which aren't 100% compatible with the D3.
  9. Those discs will not 100% work with the D3. I have a set and the map function works, but the voice prompts DO NOT work. I don't know of any other problems, but that is a big one for me. You need the discs that say "AVIC-D3 Navigation Disc" East or West
  10. I agree with aero, I just did the install this week with the PAC SWI-PS and at first just used wire taps and butt connectors but was having intermident problems with it working and not working. Decided to solder the connections and is working perfectly now.
  11. I should note that the discs that I do have are originals, not copies. Mike
  12. No VSS is not hooked up but again the same guy with the other Cobalt doesn't have his hooked up either. I think I have found the problem though which I should have checked on when I first got this. I bought the unit used from a guy on eBay and received 3 discs with it. The AVIC-D3 East Nav disc, and the CNDV-70MT East and West discs. After reading here, looks like the CNDV discs aren't compatible with the D3, but I was using that West disc because I am on the west coast. So it looks like he sent me the wrong discs and didn't send me the D3 West Nav disc. Funny thing is the CNDV discs s
  13. So i bought a D3 used from someone, he sent me 3 discs with it, the D3 East Navigation disc, CNDV-70MT East and West. I didn't get the only disc I need! I haven't heard back from the guy so I dunno what is up but I need the AVIC-D3 WEST Navigation disc. I can trade for what I have or just buy it from you straight up. I tried search torrents for download but couldn't find any for the D3 so if someone knows of one let me know please. Thanks!!
  14. It's just a regular old standard harness, nothing special. Metra 70-2103 ... looks like this: I have talked to another Cobalt SS owner who used the same harness, he has no problems with it, voice guidance works fine.
  15. So I just installed my D3 into my Chevy Cobalt SS this weekend. Everything is working smoothly except I have no voice guidance. The beeps work fine and come through the speakers, but I haven't heard this so called lady that is supposed to be telling me where to go. I have checked and made sure the guidance volume is at max volume and the voice guidance is set to ON on that same screen. On the initial setup screen, I have set the option for volume control to both MUTE and ATT, neither of them give me voice guidance. I do have this guy bypassed, but from what I have read that shouldn't b
