  1. I fought this battle with Pioneer, and was told, in essence, "You lose, sucker." The next iteration of the BT interface will be internal (as opposed to an external interface like the CD-BTB200) and Pioneer has no interest in fixing the compatibility problem between Palm OS-based smartphones and the CD-BTB200. My solution was to buy a Palm 700wx off of eBay (about $175), switch my service to it, and install the Jetware Mobile SW. This is an imperfect solution, as you still get limited functionality. Pairing the devices is still a challenge, but it can be done. When I fire up the car,
  2. Yeah... Anyone.... Anyone....????? Just tried mine tonight and got nothing by either method (searching from phone for pioneer unit or searching from pioneer unit for the phone). They both detect one another but they just won't pair.... HEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pioneer says that a Palm Smartphone won't connect to the CD-BTB200. I tried to raise this issue with Pioneer customer service, in that there are several million Palm OS-based phones out there (Palm just sold its millionth Centro, and that's just the newest model), and that this known incompatibility could hav
  3. Which cell phone carrier do you use?
  4. The most likely issue is that XM Traffic didn't have any information for that route. You'll only get a response if they have something to report, like a slowdown or an accident. Although they advertise that you can see the current traffic speed for all routes displayed, this is a lie. Pioneer is prone to embellishment with their advertising. I live in a semi-rural area now, where traffic isn't much of a problem (and there's no NavTraffic coverage, anyway). But when I lived in the Baltimore/DC area, most of the NavTraffic data was Master of the Obvious stuff. I-95 would show no problem
  5. If you cut power to the unit, won't all the settings, internal memory, etc. be erased?
  6. I had my D3 professionally installed today. The installers were wondering about the same issue (although I had mine installed conventionally-no DVD viewing while in motion). I don't know who they called, but they said that the D3 employs an internal gyroscope that sense motion and cuts off the DVD playback when the car is moving.
  7. I'm about to have my third AVIC installed. I had an N-1 that didn't perform as advertised, got Best Buy to replace it with an N-2, and now I just bought a Subaru Forester that has a double-DIN opening, requiring a D-3. I have yet to see any damage, or indications of damage, to the screen. Use reasonable care and the rest of the unit will fail before the screen does.
