  1. Which car? Did you hook up the vss? That would be my first guess as to what's wrong, either like you said you cut the wire, or you forgot to reconnect something?
  2. If you're not in a rush, I don't mind helping you out once I've had a chance to do mine. Canada Customs will have to take their thumbs out their @#$^@^ though, as currently the unit sits in a warehouse somewhere, waiting to be "inspected". Why me! What kind of car do you drive?
  3. Just a dumb question, how tall are you? I can see it being a problem if you're short. At almost 5'11, I'm close to the cieling in the civic
  4. Wow, that sucks... Sorry to hear about that. Guess I'll have to try mine for myself and see how bad it is... not too hopeful after your report though.
  5. Yingjai: I'm curious to know what is wrong with the stock holes on the civic brackets? My damn D3 is still @ customs (I'm starting to think someone put it in their car for a week before they'll send it back to me!) but I was hoping to be able to just mount it in the existing holes and be done with it. Is it not good like that? Maybe take a picture that shows more of the screen and it's surroundings... your install looks great from what I can see (but I don't see much!). Anyone else with pics of a d3 install in a civic 01-05?
  6. The VSS signal actually goes up to the instrument cluster, it's fairly easy to access it from there and route it to the D3 if you remove the cluster.
  7. The first pic is the antenna cable... there's a hole at the bottom left of the D3 (when looked at from behind) that should receive this cable. I think you need to go through the RCA for the sub.
  8. Thank god... my heart stopped after reading the first reply. I could already see myself returning the unit back.
  9. I'm guilty of it as well but how about we leave the thread for the original subject, I feel like we've hijacked it somehow... Sorry OP
  10. When the movie is playing in the back, is the nav screen visible on the D3 or is the movie shown in the front too? (Will my kids start yelling the minute I press "map" because all of a sudden barney is gone and they see a map on the rear screen instead ?)
  11. My bad, you're right... I've been living in the car pc world for a few weeks, where the space required only needs to be for the LCD. I believe the guy only replaced the stock LCD/radio controls with an LCD for his car PC. You're right, that won't help you with a radio that's >6 inches deep, sorry!
  12. If you call paying the GST and PST on the item you bought "rape" then you get raped everytime you buy something, even within canada. If you talk about the UPS brokerage fees, then yes, that is rape. You just have to use something else. USPS for example is a fixed 8$ "handling fee" on top of the taxes. I should be just shy of 850$ including shipping, taxes and everything else. So it's cheaper for the whole bundle than I would have paid here for the D3 only. And now back to our regular programming.
  13. Yes... much cheaper. They had the D3 on sale for 850 CA$ at BB and FS, whereas the D3X (with all the accessories) can be had for ~700$ in the US Since our dollar is pretty good these days, it doesn't hurt too much to cross the border.
  14. You harness should have 2 power wires. One that is always on (so you don't have to reset the clock on the radio everytime you pull the key out, and one that is controled with the key. The bluetooth module requires that you use the lead that is always powered according to the manual.
  15. The worst that can happen is that you'll blow the car fuse for the radio circuit, so don't worry too much, but make sure you have a spare fuse ;-b
