  1. I had this problem with mine, but it was less than a year old so I sent it back to Pioneer and they got it fixed and back to me inside of 10 days. No charge for the work either. Isolators did not work AT ALL for mine, had to use a line out converter and even that sucked. 10x better now that it is fixed. I told them mine was a christmas gift and did not have the receipt and they fixed it anyways.
  2. If it came out of a non-bose and is going into a bose setup... I would remove the non-bose harness from the AVIC harnesses and rewire it all. Us solder or butt connectors though, please don't twist and tape.
  3. everything except the big white connector on the right is what comes with the D3. You can get rid of that part, then simply buy the harness you need and connect them matching the color of the wires.
  4. The wire depends on the car. What type of car do you have? The VSS wire is the Vehicle Speed Sensor wire. It connects to the wire going into your dash where the spedo gets the signal it uses to display your speed.
  5. craigslist.com is the pawn shop of the internet. Basically if your shit gets jacked, check it immediately, and then again every 2 hours for the next month. It will most likely turn up. I just got lucky and found it within hours.
  6. If you find that it is not working after you perform those tests, take it back to the place you got it installed and make them finish the job.
  7. mine did the same thing... is you VSS wire hooked up? If not, it will be sideways like that.
  8. The jack@$$ posted it on craigslist.com a few hours after stealing it, pics and all. Worked with the cops (read:did their job for them and was treated like I was bothering them) to setup a buy for my iPod (it was stolen too) and they busted him. They recovered the stereo later that night. I was about to handle it all myself (not legally), but it likely would have gotten ugly and I have a 6 month old son to think about. Either way I got most of the stuff back and it will be installed a little more securely this time.
  9. Not sure what caused it to blow... it was always like that. The rest of the system is grounding perfectly and I was able to eliminate the whine by using line out converters. That proved the system was fine and the problem was only on the HU it's self.
  10. So my Avic D3 has had bad alternator whine through the RCA's since I bought it. (used) A few weeks ago it was stolen from my truck and I got it back a few days later. I decided since it was already out, I would see about getting it sent in for service to get the pico fuse fixed. Well, it was still under warranty so I sent it in and received it back yesterday. I shipped it out on the 3rd UPS ground and got it back on the 15th. That means they only had it for 2 days... pretty fast I think. I have not installed it yet, but I would assume they tested it and it is working fine now. Looking for
  11. Ok, it sounds like a combination of problems to me... First off, you can stick with the 4 channel amp and simply add a line out converter for the rear channels so you can then run RCA's for the rear as you will need to use the existing rear/sub pre outs for the subs. You will not want to run those off the HU. Second, you have a grounding issue. I cannot tell you if it is a poorly grounded amp, or HU, but that is where the whine is coming from. They need to do a number of things for you to make it right. First off, like mentioned before, make sure the RCA is not run next to the power w
  12. I had mine like that for a while... I just turned on the LPF on my sub amp, besides, my sub won't play that high pitched sound.
  13. Just wanted to let you guys know, I tried the LOC last night and it works now without any whine.
  14. I thought about a LOC the other night... If that worked and there was no noise, it would prove a problem on the HU and I would think Pioneer would cover that under warranty... I will return the GLI I bought and get a LOC and try that.
  15. I have the exact problem with my D3. I too have tried everything, and I too get no whine when not using the RCA's. I have tried two different amps, lots of RCA's speaker wire, ground locations, etc. When my amp is hooked up to the factory speakers, but the RCA is not connected, there is no whine. As soon as the RCA is connected and it is started back up, it whines like crazy. Even when it is not in the dash (held in my hand) so the chassis is not touching metal so that cannot be it. I tried isolators, ground wires on the RCA's, EVERYTHING.
