    Z1 play DVD Audio?

The 7800DVD will play MP3s on a DVD, but no other units can.
  2. The X1R will not be able to tune US FM frequencies, as Europe radio is set up differently. I am unsure whether the navi portion will function at all, it probably has different firmware.
  3. FYI, the blue discs that came with the D1 include 2005 maps and firmware. The CNDV-60M set is 2006 maps and has added features, such as lane information for 50 cities. Discs sent as a free upgrade for D1 owners are 2005 maps, but with the latest firmware fixes. They will not offer you added functionality such as lane info.
  4. The interface on the Z1 is faster than the N1 overall, due to the system being run off a hard drive vs. DVD. The actual touch response is about the same, although I personally feel that a fixed mount 2DIN unit like the Z1 is easier to use than a DIN sized unit like the N1. There is less give in the screen, which means more tactile response for your finger.

    Z1 play DVD Audio?

If it played your DVD-A disc, it was actually playing the DVD-V audio track that most labels include alongside the high resolution version. The DVD-V track is plain PCM audio (44.1kHz/16-bit CD quality), whereas a true DVD-A disc can run as high as 96kHz/24-bit. the only units that are able to play DVD-A are the AVH-P7500DVD, 7600DVD, and now 7800DVD.
  6. Our brand new site design was supposed to launch last week, and was in fact up for a few hours. Unfortunately, something went wrong on the backend, and IT has been working to fix it since. ETA on a fix is currently unknown.
  7. Keep in mind that these units are installed in display boards and left on for years at a time in some instances. Some stores never power their boards down, but even the ones that do have them running for at least 12 hours a day. Granted, there is usually more airspace behind display boards, but there are also a ton of other electronics running in the same vicinity, each generating their own heat.
  8. FYI, if there is any evidence that you pulled the unit out yourself, I don't believe CC will exchange it for a brand new one. They will more likely submit the unit for a warranty repair.
  9. The IR codes are the same across all Pioneer units, so a remote from a single CD player w/ the ATT key would work on a Z1. You can order these items from parts.pioneerelectronics.com.
  10. Forklift has it almost right. The advanced iPod interface requires a dedicated chip onboard the unit. If you plug the CD-IB100 (or CD-IB100II) into a unit that doesn't have this chip, it will see it as an External (EXT) device. EXT devices on the IP-Bus have limited functionality, meaning you will be limited to 8 characters on the display, and will have to access most functions through the Function menu. We don't advertise the iPod adapter as being compatible with anything except for the following: DEH-P6800/680MP DEH-P7800/780MP DEH-P880MP DEH-P9800/980MP AVH-P5700DVD AVIC-N3
  11. The unit is designed to stay on even when there is no source powered on. If you have amplifiers installed, they will remain on as well, to provide power for the voice guidance feature of the navi section. The navi portion is always on, hence the fans spinning until you take the key out.
