1. The LX apparently uses a standard double din mount, and there should be kits out there for you. Forget the harness and upgrade that sound system with quality amplifiers and speakers. The Z1 sings like a bird through a high-end sound system, and it will fall well short of its potential with that Lexus sound system. Search ClubLexus.com for some info. Here's a link to a short thread on the harness, but that's a lost cause: http://www.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=195835&highlight=double+din+lx470
2. I replaced the Blackberry with a Motorola Q, which appeared to be ready to upload the entire contacts list, but the Z1 card reader cycled out after the first entry. A user on Howard Forums claimed to upload his from a Q to the Z1. He has never responded to my email about that. And there have been other reports that phone books were sucessfully uploaded to the Z1 from non-Verizon systems.

Don't know about specific phones, but Verizon cripples the BlueTooth capabilities of every phone they release -- there are quite a few web sites out ther
3. That doesn't sound too bad, considering you didn't buy from them. Surprised they would install it. I paid a premium to buy from CC because I was unplugging a custom install on a Pioneer P9. The factory harness had been pulled out by the previous installer. They charged me $180 and installed the Z1 and a GEX-920 plus a custom dash kit that they crafted. Sounds like we ended up spending close to the same amount.
4. You are right about the Q. I've not been able to upload the phone book from the Motorola Q to the Z1. It has object (file) send capability, but the Z1 card reader disconnects after each upload and prompts for another. My wife's V710 does everything the Q can do with the Z1.
5. You may have to turn the bluetooth on in the Settings menu first. Can't remember. Make sure it's on if it's not. And make sure you select Hands-Free with the Z1 as well. It will pair automatically once Pioneer Navi is shown as an option in Hands-Free. Just check those. I sent you a PM with info on my Build for the Q and the Bluetooth module for comparison purposes. But, if the Razr works, the Q should work. I'd let VZW check out the Q. And you're right about the phone buttom bringing up the phone menu, Aviator03. Still have to wade through the menus to get to the address a
6. The Q pairs reliably -- never have to force a handshake from the menus. You should store the same passcode on both units. I would reboot the Q after making the changes. I usually keep mine on the holster unless I am taking a long trip, and still no problem. One thing, when making a call it will say it is disconnecting until it connects -- that's normal. And, you have to restart the motor if you lose pairing. It will not restore with the engine (and the Z1) running.
7. It's painful. But you don't want to have to enter them twice. I see no way to copy from the Phone Book to the Address Book. Pioneer, are you listening?
8. Wonder if there is a way to shield the mike with a baffle or relocate it so it doesn't pick up the sound bouncing off glass on two sides? Mine is mounted at the top of driver-side A pillar. The instrument panel is recessed.
9. The Z1 mike appears to be omnidirectional. Have to wonder whether an A-pillar mounted unidirectional mike might solve the problem once the audio is moved to the right side of the vehicle.
10. Many posts have complained about the poor voice dialing with the Z1. A related problem is the lack of voice dialing using Names in the Phone Book. A solution is to load your numbers instead into the Address Book and dial with the Call command and the Name associated with the address. The Address Book will store 400 listings, and I've found that you can use a common/shared address to speed loading of family members and co-workers. For instance, I added my wife's cell phone selecting Home as the Location from the Recently Navigated list. Also added my son using the same approach. I
11. Just to add to Ed's comment about callerid. With the Motorola Q, remove the "1" from your Z1 address book to make it work. I believe Ed's solution works with the Razr.
I just setup the bluetooth and I actually like it a lot. The callerid thing is annoying, I found that my motorolla phone trasmits the 1 at the beginning of all #'s, ie 17035551212. My phone book entries don't contain the 1 and the pioneer wants an exact match. I edited the entries to include the 1 and the callerid works.
12. Not familar with the XV6700, but make sure you are using a hands-free BT mode, if available. The Z1 won't recognize the PC option on the Motorola Q, but works when I select the hands-free mode on the Q. Also, it will accept a "send object" upload to the Business Card Reader. However, it only accepts one contact at a time on the Verizon system.
I have a Verizon xv 6700 smartphone and the head unit doesn't connect to the phone because it thinks it's a computer and not a phone. Any suggestions?
13. Did you leave the car running while when you left and came back? If you lose BT connection, you have to restart the Z1 -- and the only way to do that is turn the engine off and back on. Is this the only pairing problem you are having? The callerid works with your numbers registered in the phone and address books. If your numbers have a "1" prefix, try removing it. At least that works for me on a Verizon system with a Motorola Q. If you don't have a "1" prefix, try adding it. That worked for one user on a Razr.
14. Thanks again for discovering the stash of ND-BT1s at Circuit City. I am sure others here are grateful for the heads-up. Installed the unit in less than 10 minutes myself. Only one wire and it's molded to the BT receiver on one end. The other is a red plug that only fits the red connector on the back of the Z1. Don't pay to have this installed unless you have never removed the radio. Once the passords were installed on both ends and the bluetooth turned on in the menus on both the devices, the handshake was quick. Hands-free works great, although I couldn't get the Z1 voice recog
15. Cost is $149.95. They had a half-dozen left in the warehouse after I picked mine up locally. I suggest you order quickly online, which will reserve it. Good luck.
