1. I'm sorry if this subject has been posted before, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. My question is this: While listening to music, will the Z1 automatically dim or mute the music when getting navigation instructions from the guide voice? Also, I know on units like the TomTom Go that you can configure audible alarms when certain POI's approach like gas stations, banks etc. Is this possible with the Z1 as well? One last thing, are there more than one voice "type" to choose from with the navigation voice...like male or female...or English or American accent? Again, the TomTom Go has this
2. Ok, that clears that up...but I'm still curious about something. In between updates...is there a way to manually enter disc info when the Gracenote info is unavailable?
3. Has anyone bought and ripped a new release cd AFTER they bought their Z1? I ask because I'm curious to know how the unit provides cd disc info CDDB (artist, track, genre etc.) for cd's released after the Z1 was installed with it's cd library info? I would have to assume the unit would not have this info and it would have to be manually updated. If this is the case, how does one get the most recent CDDB library info...download from Pioneer, then burn to disc then update Z1? It would seem this info would be out of date every couple of weeks if not sooner. Any answers out there? Thanks.
4. That store on pricegrabber.com no longer has any in for the $160.00 shipped price. I have a brand new one, never been opened, that I can sell for $165.00 if you're interested.
5. Great Rock, I too have been looking for a RAP DataBus adapter for my GM vehicle ('05 Buick LaCrosse). There are three main companies that make these units: Metra, P.A.C.,Best Kits, and Blitz..(I'll post links later). You should call ALL of these companies tech support and see if a proper adapter is made for your car for 100% compatibility. I have to wait until they make one for my car. With GM vehicles there are too many things that go through this RAP adapter. If you haven't gotten the right one, then anything can go wrong with your vehicle and your Z1. I HIGHLY recommend that you b
6. What about "copying" not "ripping" a cd-r to the hdd? What I mean is, if I load a data cd-r that is filled with a hundred or so mp3 files..will this copy to the hard drive or can the Z1 only "rip" audio discs to the hdd? If that is the case, can the user set bit rate? Thanks.
7. Stryfox, I am a Cingular customer and I have, what I belive to be, my best cell phone yet. It is the Audiovox SMT-5600:check out a review and video on it here. http://reviews.cnet.com/Audiovox_SMT560 ... 38516.html This phone sounds great, has great reception, is small and light (candy bar form factor) and has a ton of extra features like a built in mp3 player, camera, Windows mobile etc. I know you said you don't need anything flashy, but you get a lot of "phone" for the money. Also, I have talke
8. Scott...triple checking on the specs right now and if it looks like I DEFINITELY need it, I'll grab it for the $50 + shipping. May need to ask you to overnight it or 2 day it though. What state are you in? Thanks, Rob PS Still didn't see a way to PM you...do you want to PM me your email address?
9. Very interested in taking that unit off your hands....why don't you send me a private message so we can discuss without taking up room on the forum...you may need to register as a member to do so. Also, did you need to keep the stock radio hooked up in line in your trunk to maintain full vehicle functionality? Thanks, Rob
10. Thanks justiz! I'm actually planning on having a professional shop do the installation, but I'm trying to educate myself as to the time and efforet so I get a fair price and also so the job is done right the first time. Thanks again. Rob
11. I have an '05 GM Buick Lacrosse with Bose premium sound and OnStar. I understand that installing the Z-1 in any GM vehicle requires a lot of adaptors and may even require keeping the original radio wired up in the trunk to keep all the information settings active like door chimes, light dimming, fuel readouts etc. which all run through the radio's "brain". Has anyone out there installed the Z-1 in a current GM vehicle? If so, would you mind sharing your experience and just what was needed to make the unit work happily in your vehicle? Thanks. Rob
12. Sorry if I've missed this on the forum, but I haven't been able to find a thread regarding this: Are the necessary future CDDB updates for the Z1 available for free? I imagine that in order to rip new cd's as they come out, one would need to be constantly updating this database on an almost daily basis. With that said, will these updates be available for free? Also, where do we get the update downloads..from Pioneer or directly from Gracenote? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Rob
13. Has anyone used an Audiovox SMT-5600 with the Z1 bluetooth? I called Pioneer and they said it was on their compatibility list, but I'll take that with a grain of salt. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
14. Crutchfield just got a new batch in on May 3rd. Last time I checked the site it was still listed as "Out of stock", but I received an "item back in stock" email notification that I signed up for a couple of weeks ago, called Crutchfield, and sure enough they were in stock and shipped me one out! $119.00 + shipping. Hurry..I'm sure they're going fast!
