  1. Thanks for the input everyone. I did upgrade my speakers with external amps the same time that I installed my F90. I am using Alpine XPro components in front and back with a 4x100 Alpine PDX amp along with a PDX 1x1000 amp pushing 2 10" Elemental Designs subs, all in an extended cab F150 (Sorry for the brag, but to me this is a pretty awesome system). Every other source sounds amazing, i was just a little dissapointed that the XM sound sounded so much...flatter...than the regular FM sound.
  2. I have moved the antena around a bit, but the sound did not get any better. Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I thought that since XM was a digital transmission, either you get signal or you don't, not you get "some signal" and that can affect sound quality. Though, like I said earlier, I am new to satelite radio. I am afraid however that the sound quality is just...lackluster in general. Can anyone else shed some light on this, in particular their XM (or Sirius for that matter) sound quality vs. FM radio quality? I know my FM quality is MUCH better than my XM.
  3. Is this everyone's experience? I just installed mine this weekend and it takes much longer than you describe. I have the latest firmware (came pre-loaded). It seems that it sits on the splash screen telling me to wait for about 4 minutes when I timed it. When I turn off the car with a radio as source I have radio sound and volume control after 45 seconds past ignition, the screen changes to the source screen (but not functional) after about 2 minutes, I have functional control after 4 minutes. Is this now a unique experience to my unit (and thus needs to be returned) or is this par for th
  4. I am new to satelite radio in general, and just installed my F90 along with the pioneer GEX-P920XM (XM Module). I get reception, I have service, I can surf the channels, but the sound quality is more than lacking. It's not hissing or popping, but it just sounds like it is comming out of an old 1920's radio. My ipod, disc, and FM stations sound GREAT, and I am more than a little dissapointed with the XM quality. Could this be something I hooked up wrong, or am I missing something completely?
  5. I too am having my newly installed F90 reboot randomly on me. I did confirm that the newest firmware came pre-installed as well as all the connections are firm. I got it installed and went on a 3 hour drive, where it rebooted on me 3 times. The next day it rebooted on me once and flickered to my splash screen a couple of times while playing the radio (sound was un-interupted). I'm usually fairly understanding, but when this happens while I am using my phone through the unit, it is very frustrating. This is not a drained battery issue. Is anyone else having this problem or have a
  6. Ok, I'm terrible at photoshop, but here are a couple of my feable attempts.
  7. Just a shot in the dark here, but has anyone tried otherwise shielding the mic cable? If it's a matter of induced interferance, a little shielding might go a long way to help the problem.
  8. I apreciate all the input and effort.
  9. I will admit, I am new to the car bluetooth world, so excuse me if I'm re-hashing old topics. If it is a matter of a sub-par microphone, is it possible to upgrade it on these units? Does this seem to be a Pioneer problem, or is this problem consistent throughout the market of simular products? The bluetooth feature is huge for me and a main selling point, and I just want to be as informed as I can before making a decision. Thanks much!
  10. First post. Thanks for the wealth of knowledge, this is a great board. I was hoping to get some solid feedback on the bluetooth quality of the F-series, specifically quality from the F-series to the person you are calling. For those that have it installed, what are your overall impressions? How far away and how are you installing the microphone? Is it always the same quality, or come and go? If you do have issues with the quality, do you feel it is a hardware or software issue? Thanks for all your input.
