  1. I guess I'll try that again and hope it wasn't connected right before.
  2. I'm installing the Z3 into a Silverado SS and have had the ILL wire hooked into the Illumination wire on the GMOS unit and made sure that the daytime / nighttime was set to automatic. The unit never dimmed or turned the picture color over (on my old N2 the land on the map turned to brown at night time instead of white). Yesterday, I broke into the wiring again and hooked the ILL into the Dimmer wire instead and turned the headlights on, again checking that daytime/ nighttime was set to automatic. It still didn't change the color over. Can someone give me a definitive answer to what th
  3. I have a 2004 Silverado SS and after looking at the plug (behind the glovebox , http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php? ... ht=classic ), it looks like all that is keeping this from working is the plastic clip retainer. If you pry the little tabs on the GM wire and remove the plastic shell leaving just the wire and the end connector, the plug fits just fine. There was enough friction on mine to allow a solid connection. It's worked flawlessly throughout the three day trial, so I assume it'll work from here out. Now to find that XM discount code.....
  4. I haven't tried to unhook the module yet but I think the module has to be installed since there is a power and ground cable that are attached through the module. I'm wondering if it's just a bad connection. It works better now but still is real grainy and the picture jumps sometimes.
  5. From the search I've seen some backup problems but its similar and not the same as the rest that I've seen. The backup camera switches in reverse but doesn't display a constant flowing image. Sometimes its a solid screenshot and other times its a slowly flickering, snowy, baaaaaaadly flowing rear view. Could this be a bad splice to reverse gear wire or a poor rca cable or improper "programming"? Also what programming needs to be done on the ND-PC20PA to ensure solid operation? There's the + / - and two other button remote but I've got a manual with pictures in Engrish and the write
  6. I've got an F90 in an 04 Silverado SS and I think I'm using the American Int'l kit. I just rode out to Best Buy and picked it up for 15 bucks. Seems to sit about right in the truck. Separate question though. Which wire harness is the one that you tap into for the remote function? I have four or five harness connectors under the steering wheel and it was about to rain so I didn't push it any further. TIA.
  7. I've done the bypass and can operate the map / routes while moving, I can input video from the AV source (albeit that input doesn't work right) but I get nothing but sound from USB videos. No video at all. Just a black screen. I tried it still and moving. Anyone got ideas?
  8. Well hopefully this afternoon the weather will cooperate enough (no rain) so I can get in there and work on some of the wiring issues. I'll check and see if I can get the video working. Otherwise I'm thinking its a hardware problem on the unit itself.
  9. I'll give that a shot. Does that feature only work with FM/AM and CD then?
  10. Thats what I would figure, but this same mp3 player worked on the AVIC-N2, and works on RCA output to a TV, so would it be some internal hardware problem on the nav unit?
  11. Supposedly you can make the music not mute when the navigation voice is playing (Operation Manual: Page 144) and I know you could do this on the N2 that I had previously in a different car. The problem is, now that option is blacked out on the settings menu. Is this because I removed the mute wire to do the bypass? If so, then I'll have to reconnect a wire to that post on the harness, but where in the vehicle would that go since I have no mute wire on the vehicle harness (that I'm aware of). Any ideas or maybe did I just not fill out some setting?
  12. I've got the same problem with a different mp3. The Archos player outputs through RCA cables and the video doesn't run but audio does. Video splashes a garbled screen, and locks while the audio runs. I'm checking the video cable but does anyone else have ideas?
  13. So I realize that some of these might be wiring issues, but I still doubt it. I'll get around to double checking this weekend. 1) Video playback from my mp3 player (that worked flawlessly on the AVIC-N2) pops up the video in a messy, skewed, badly colored way. Kind of like if you take a picture of a tv when you tried to watch pay per view without paying for it.....Oh, and no audio from it either. Did I have three connections come loose all at once? Doubtful..... 2) Touch screen buttons are slow to operate if at all. Sometimes the touchscreen becomes non-responsive. I have to hi
  14. Whew! Its only an annoyance but I'm glad it looks like it'll work. Will the PAC-SWPS have the right connector on it or will I have to splice a certain connector to it? I'll have to get on ordering that and the XM reciever next. Thanks.
