Not surprised. Pioneer won't trick me again! I am waiting till this test is well vetted before even considering trying to torrent it. I want to see: - what is the bootup time - have the menus changed? - how well does bluetooth work - a rapid succession of TWO phone calls. Does it hang for 50 seconds after either call? - how long does the reverse camera take tp turn on after starting the car? - is the ipod voice recognition process the same? Do I have to go through the menu to turn it on and off again? Good lord how hard is it to add a small icon in the corner of the ipod sour

I would stay far away from either the F or the X. Wish I had passed when it came time to buy my F. Its like a waking nightmare.

Sounds like you're just mad because of performance issues, and not any real bugs. Because the only bug you actually pointed out was iPod connectivity, and from what I've read, you just need to reconnect it every month or so. Which bring me back to my original point; they are not responsible for improving their unit for free, they are only responsible for making sure all the advertised features function (and they do function). Updates are not free. Fixes are. What needs to be fixed? I mean, I can see where they can make improvements to the unit, but I can't say any of the core features need any fixes. Bluetooth, ipod connection, general OS sluggishness, backup camera response, NAV, Piss poor UI arrangement and more.

1) Firmware updates aren't always free. Especially, since this is a major OS update, not some bug fixes. If you're dying from some bug (a real bug, not some inconvenience) they haven't addressed (unlikely) you might have a leg to stand on. 2) They aren't forcing you to do anything. In fact, you're making all the choices for ... yourself! YEAH FREE WILL! 3) Bottom line, if you don't want to steal, then don't steal. It's really that simple. Updates are not free. Fixes are.

At this point, blowing it the fuck up would probably be so satisfying as to offset the 500 bucks I lost. I really do hate this unit. If you're that unhappy with your unit you should probably sell it and get a new one. Not only will it make you happier, it will give you a lot more credibility when you bash the unit. I actually tried to sell it a while back. Problem is I paid 1000 bucks for it, and the ebay listing barely hit 500 bucks WITH XM reciever, and more thrown in.

I would think they would tend to rush to market regardless of low quality. Not surprised at all, considering the F series. I think they have completely forgone testing.

I agree, comparing the ipod and the Avic-F is not fair. The iPod actually works well, where as the AVIC-F is a frustrating piece of crap. Its like comparing a Pinto to a Ferrari.... the AVIC-F is the Pinto in this case. I just wish mine would explode so I could get the Kenwood. Maybe I have some left over fireworks somewhere that can help.

I will go ahead and let you all test it out and just pay 120 bucks when it comes out. I don't trust Pioneer one iota to give them 60 bucks in the hopes that their POS unit is fixed with this update. I have my suspicions its still going to be buggy as hell.

I dont WANT new maps and iGo 8.3. I could care less about it. I am bitching about having to pay 60 bucks to *maybe* fix a terrible unit! Thats not bitching and moaning, thats expecting decent customer service. Not even decent... decent would have been to fix it long ago. Paying 5 bucks for this fix is a rip off.

How the hell did they install it in an 09 Murano?! My wife has one and it looks like an integrated AC/Stereo. Is this a US model? Do you have pics?

Well if they charge us for the package, and won't allow us to get this fix for free, then they are charging for it. Otherwise that would be like saying I just got an xbox for free, but I had to pay 300 bucks for the controller. Since Pioneer has not released it yet, I guess I should really hold my judgment, but this really is their last opportunity to keep me as any potential future customer.

I am more than a little miffed at Pioneer's audacity here. To charge me to upgrade defective firmware! And I can safely assume the "3.0" firmware won't be much better. "2.0" still sucked. I will never buy another Pioneer product again, nor will I encourage my friends to do it. I will not be giving them 70$ or, even one penny to fix these defects. They lost a potentially great customer here. Kenwood has my business from now on.
