  1. no and no. This has been discussed many times before.
  2. (sigh) If we start answering the same damn question a dozen times a day just because somebody does not want to spend 3 minutes doing a quick search of the forum and look at the stickies, this forum will grow even faster and become even less manageable than it is already. Really, is it that difficult typing "new maps" in the search box?
  3. Assuming he has US model, of course. Euro models do have RDS in the built-in tuner. For emulating buttins, add this skin to emulator: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?> titleBar ="AVIC-F900BT" displayPosX="225" displayPosY="120" displayWidth="800" displayHeight="480" displayDepth="16" mappingImage="avic_mask.png" normalImage="avic_up.png"> toolTip="MENU" onClick="0x73" mappingColor="0x804000" /> toolTip="MAP" onClick="0x72" mappingColor="0xFF8040" /> You need to start
  4. The correct answer, though, is... search the forum. This has been discussed many times, and instructions for installing any iGO8 or iGO 8.3 maps, depending on your firmware level, have been posted.
  5. Funny... one things that always worked for me was transferring the phone book from either SCH-i760 or Touch Pro 2.
  6. Quite a few people tried to do that, but with no success. US models use a different tuner chip...
  7. North American units only need to support (US) English and French voice recognition (may be Spanish, too, not sure). TO work across Europe it would need to understand far more languages, and I guess Pioneer did not want to go to the expense of adding more memory and software to do it...
  8. You can use MDL's by simply coding them in SYS.TXT, no theme changer needed. Converting a BMP to MDL is pretty much impossible, though...
  9. ...\content\lang\Lang_{name of language>.ZIP is a file that has translations. Look for dictionary.lang file in the archive and add translations for strings that are missing...
  10. I'd say a grandkid is more important than AVIC modding... But you'll be missed. Good luck!
  11. No... only found messages to make phone calls, but not ones to bring up phone settings. I don't think anybody specifically looked for it, though.
  12. i see, are they working on something like that for US users? One could probably adapt configuration scripts to work with NA providers, but most phones/modems I have seen mentioned as working are Nokias and Benq-Siemens models that are hard to come by here...
  13. what is avic_net? Something like Launcher with tools for connecting to the Internet through some Russian cellular providers.
  14. They are turn restrictions, and map data is (usually) correct. This particular build of iGO, however, displays them pretty much randomly (there must be some system to it, but we haven't discovered it so far).
  15. Hi Boris, The December 15 version suffered the same rebooting problem like the earlier version. I removed the "no screensaver" codes, it is working fine so far. Ah, cool. By the way, where do you remove them (I haven't looked at code in a while) from? I might as well upload a US-specific version with no screensaver...
  16. December 15 update from Andr2000 (Firmware 3.x) + Added button to return to Navigation screen from Route Planning screen + Integration with Avic_Net
  17. I think it's mostly because it is practically impossible to code a reasonable routing algorithm that would go through a certain road, unless you would also have to specify which _stretch_ of the road to take. Otherwise there'd be too many options, and what if the best route would only take you across that road through an intersection etc. Is that enough of taking a specified road?
  18. You're welcome. It has, actually, been covered several times. All official update installers from Pioneer have (quite reasonably so) integrity checks built in, and won't update if any of the files have been tampered with. Install update first, then just copy over a modified file. Or, better yet, for something like the brake bypass, just create a correct folder hierarchy on your card and put the file you want to use in there. For this one it should be, I think, UI_PIONEER\COMMON\PIONEER.INI. Copy the whole thing to iGO folder and it will override any same-named file in the same fold
  19. I don't think there's any Navi system that lets you specify a specific road you want to take, but what you could do is insert a via point on the road you want to use. If the unit still take you to the highway, say, just add more vias...
  20. Or turn it off somewhere in the settings (in original Stan/Andr skin it is, I believe, controlled by the lane info ding setting... Or, for adventurous coders, make it configurable separately.
  21. For the font, yes. Copy DIGITAL.TTF file to APL2\IGO folder.
