  1. I've disconnected the unit from the car completely ... still no change. Next step is to re-flash the s/w.
  2. I'm going to pull the unit out again and have a look at everything. Any suggestions would be welcomed!
  3. By the way .. navigation works fine (other than difficulty in getting the volume where I want it - it keeps jumping around). Bluetooth phone also work.
  4. OK, I tried resetting it using the button on the front panel ... ended up driving for 13 hours with only the radio ... no fun if you ask me! Any other thoughts? Is there something else that would kill all audio as soon as iPod / SD / CD is selected??? I've downloaded both the instruction manual and the installation manual and I can't see anything in there that suggests there is a problem with the installation.
  5. Thanks ... but this has nothing at all to do with the vehicle it is installed in. The wiring in this car is pretty straightforward ... there is something going on with the AVIC unit itself. Thanks for the responses though ... I do appreciate it.
  6. I've tried adjusting the settings ... And it isn't just the iPod, but also the SD card and CD player as well ... same issue ... select one of those and everything goes quiet! No sounds at all until I switch to radio then all system sounds are back as well. Front aux input gets no response at all ... Car is a Saab 9-5, 2004. System was moved from the same car, 2005 and it worked just fine last week when I removed it. Another strange thing is that the sound levels are much higher ... perhaps because of the connection to the car, I'm not sure. Before, I used to max out at 40 ..
  7. As I mentioned, I'm heading on a long trip in the morning ... going back to the installer is not an option untill I return. I was hoping for a little more help, something that I might be able to try on my own that I haven't thought of.
  8. I removed the unit form my previous car ... it worked great. Had it in at Future Shop today to be installed into my "new" car ... got it back and everything seemed fine ... Until I got home and plugged my iPod in. No sound at all. It registered the iPod, could track where it was, showed the album cover, everything except audio. I'm heading on a long trip tomorrow and figured, well, if I could load music onto the SD card, I could live with that until I can get it fixed. Same thing. Threw a CD in ... same thing. ALL audio stops ... even the beeping noise made when changing scree
  9. Wow ... I didn't realize this was a common issue. I replaced the iPod cable with another Pioneer one and it corrected the problem for me. I've often wondered if the cable was also at fault for the Pioneer unit dropping the iPod. It has been much better for that since the replacement, but it does still drop it occassionally. I am now going in search of Apple cables to see if this will help.
  10. There are 2 issues buying one of these units in the US. 1) on top of the exchange, you will have to pay duty (6.1%) as it is not made in N/A. 2) you will get zero support from Pioneer for the unit.
  11. Not quite right ... 50% of Saab was purchased by GM in 1990 and the remaining 50% in 2000. Saabs are built by Saab ... a GM company. Opel has never built a Saab. They do share some parts, but that is it. Saab, the aviation company, now has nothing at all to do with Saab ... other than to provide the basis in which marketing uses the phrase "Born from Jets. Sure, the car company was started by 16 aircraft engineers, but that was a long time ago. You are bang on that Saabs are driven (for the most part) by nice people. Yes, all speakers work just fine (I bought Wulf's c
  12. Standard attempt, just followed the instructions provided by the unit. Hit the "Phonebook Transfer" button. Follow the prompts ... and then I get to this: "Send Business Card ..." My phone has no operation to send anything. I have tried hitting "OK" at that point and the BT light starts flashing but then the rest of the system become unresponsive outside of having control over my media inputs. If I don't hit "OK", then that window just sits there and nothing else seems to be happening (BT light is solid). Any help would be appreciated.
  13. And this would be the reason these types of forums are so good. Thanks very much for setting me straight. I'll be trying this out later today.
  14. I have never been able to sync my phonebook with the 700BT. No problem doing the same thing with my TomTom510, but not even a sniff with the Pioneer. Any thoughts? Anyone else using this phone?
