  1. I have two cars and two Pioneer Units. One is the Avic F900BT. The other is a DEH-P700BT. On the latter I can voice dial using my cellphone's voice dial function. After entering phone-mode I press the BAND button until I hear a beep. Then I tell my phone who I want to call. The point here is that the European Avic unit doesn't have voice-anything as far as I have found. So, is there anyway of copying the P700BT and accessing the phone's own voice dial with the F900BT? This is a safety feature worth having... Any thoughts anyone?
  2. I spoke to the guy who installs units at my dealer. I mentioned how the long boot time was a drag. He says one of the first installs he did of the unit was for his boss. And that the boot time on that unit has been reduced during the time his boss has had it in his car. What he says is that the unit learns about your settings and how you start using it everytime you turn the key. And he says it adapts. This again leads to it booting more quickly. Having only had my unit for a couple of weeks and only having used it sporadically (yes it's in the "family car" my wife drives to work ever
  3. Spoke to the guy who installs for my dealer today. I told him I was sadly surprised that it wasn't voice enabled. He told me I wasn't missing out on anything. He'd seen a demonstration of the VoiceBox sotware and he said it was a mess... Do any of our american friends have any opinions on this? Besides this, I posted to this thread earlier on that I think the unit may have our location hardwired. If the software checks that we're not going to get anywhere... Anybody know if this is the case?
  4. try just running the exe file as well and see what happens. It's in the same folder: VBTEngine.exe
  5. LPUE080/APL2/VBT/Speech/VoiceBox.cfg Goto the bottom. It's the last variable...
  6. Anybody looked at this variable in the VoiceBox.cfg file? ;UseHandsFree = N Or for that matter tried running the Voice Box exe file from WinCE on a European unit?
  7. A thought here is that there are completely different map-sets installed on UC and EW units. Could WinCE be using the map-sets to ID location of unit? Does the VoiceBox software require you to have UC map-set to work?
  8. The UC here denotes US+Canada while Europe is identified with an EW (not EU!). So LPEW1-1-C means Europe. The thing is, I think location ID is also hardwired into the unit. I discovered this while trying to open WinCE and had to change a setting in the MapDBInfo.txt file. You may know this already, but if not... now you do
  9. Interesting thread this. Hopefully it will pan out. While trawling for other files, completely intent upon a completely different mission I stumbled across the Voice operation software imbedded in there somewhere. I live in Norway, so I'm guessing I have the same firmware as the rest of Europe, in spite of residing outside the Great Union. Unfortunately I can't remember where I saw it, but look for the phrase: VoiceBox. This is the name of the company who makes the Voice operation software for Pioneer and I found it or an abbreviation of it in one of the filenames in there somewhere.
  10. After having read this thread and a couple of others, I just went in and renamed the existing files with a new extension (.old). Works just as well as inserting blank .wav files. I'm not sure how much it speeds the system up, but I get less agitated using the thing... Anyway, thanx for posting these mods. Makes life alot easier for those of us who want the tweeks and don't have the skills
  11. Found them. Removed them. Done! Thanx
  12. Two quick questions: 1) Which sound files do you rename/remove? And which sounds then disapear? 2) What is the general verdict? Does this increase player-responsiveness? Is it worth doing?
  13. Solved it! Being the conscientious type I formatted my SD-card and placed the folders on the root. No joy, same error message. So I checked out the MapDBInfo.txt file and changed the Area: UC to Area: EW Now I'm in! Any suggestions for a good thread that tells me how to remove button sounds in WinCE?
  14. No, I don't think it's the SD card itself. That part works alright. I'm pretty sure it has to do with the files in the MiTACAP folder. I have a feeling it either has to be the version of the firmware or my location (Norway)... You wouldn't by any chance happen to know if anybody has posted a European version of the Testmode files?
