Just thought I'd post an update... I replaced my Z150BH with the NEX8000 and the harness was the same, however when I tried to replace my X920 with the Z150BH the harness was NOT the same... It's pretty close but the tab is on the opposite side. -Keith

K, I'll wait till I see some feedback. My biggest fear is I update to ios8 and then pioneer releases avicsync which won't work in ios8.. That's the chances you take tho..

Interesting... Does app mode work ok for you? And avrcp with bluetooth?

Has anyone here tried iOS 8 on a NEX unit yet? I'm curious if any features break with it. (Of course the beta itself will be buggy, thats what betas are) -Keith

I learned this the hard way with my Z150BH, so with my NEX8000 I purchased a warranty from Squaretrade which still saved me $300 over retail cost and provides coverage for 4 years rather than 1.

Added some more pet peeves..

At night the display is beautiful, but during the day it's washed out and disgusting.. you can see every fingerprint on it.. it doesn't help that the Prius has the head unit angled so poorly that the sun can't help but wash the picture out.. but it makes it even harder to see the screen. Anyone have any tips for this? I'm wondering if a screen protector would help.

I get that every so often, no rhyme or reason as to when it happens.. I might not get it for a week, then I get it once a day two days in a row. The bypass is absolutely working for me though.

I figured we should start a list of problems that multiple users are having, maybe we can compile a list and send this off to Pioneer in hopes they fix them (yeah right). The screen on the head unit shows its waiting for the iPhone to start app mode, but app mode never starts on the phone nor does it prompt you to Allow or Ignore the request. There's an option you can enable that gives you additional announcement about approaching navigation, I haven't enabled mine maybe I'll try it tomorrow... but from how the manual describes it it sounds like instead of it saying "In 800 feet turn left" it'll give you an additional warning at 1600 feet for example.

There is an option disabled by default which provides you with advanced navigation instructions. sounds like you might need it. i haven't tried it myself yet tho.

This unit does everything slower than my z150BH. Interface touch response is fast but that's it. Changing XM stations has a delayed response, going into reverse and having the cam pop up has a delay... Switching to nav for the first time takes forever... It's slowwww... But pretty.

I just hope Spotify works on CarPlay right out of the box. The icon appeared on the Ferrari demo of CarPlay, but no one ever actually opened the app so I wonder if it was just a dummy icon.

EC Touch has been the biggest piece of crap to me... I paid for the addons too and it does nothing but crash.. The developer wants me to give him my Spotify username and PW to troubleshoot... I supplied him with multiple debugs, can't imagine why he needs my UN and PW... It seems the latest update may have fixed my crashing issue.. we'll see..

I agree, I don't think Pioneer will *ever* "fix" appmode.. I don't even think they can, I think it's an Apple limitation they purposely put in place for "security" purposes to ensure apps don't launch other apps without your consent. I think with CarPlay since it's an official API, it'll be a lot smoother and like you said will dominate the space for Apple devices at least. It makes me wonder if the companies who supported AppMode at first and pulled out did so because they knew CarPlay was coming and why continue development on a dying technology.. at least dying on the iOS side.. -Keith

So far I can't say that I like the navigation better than my Z150BH...yet... but to be fair I haven't given it much use yet so I'll reserve judgment for a while still. The breadcrumb trails that I finally got back on my Z150BH after losing them on my X920 are now gone again, it doesn't seem to be an option on the 8000 NEX. Also missing is the line-of-sight line which tells me where my destination is in relation to my current location. None of the alert points work yet the red light camera alerts work on my iGo Primo app. I'll give it some time though maybe it'll grow on me. -Keith

I forget the exact steps but essentially you click the Map button, while on the map click the menu icon on the bottom right and scroll to the right, select Settings, then select Warnings, and you'll see the option for speed limit. You can make it a visual alert only, or do what I did and make it so it only alerts when you are 130% of the speed limit so it'll warn you only when you're *really* speeding..

Did they try connecting your camera or another composite video source to your secondary camera / aux input?

I'm curious if anyone here has purchases a SquareTrade warranty and used it on a Pioneer Avic? I'm curious what your experience was, whether they repaired, refunded, or replaced. While I got a quote online for a 3 year warranty at $129 from their site, from Amazon I got a 4 year for $99. -Keith

Who is the authorized dealer you used? I'm having some weird issues with mine which I'll update in my existing review post.. I might send it back and go authorized.

I finally received it on Monday, I'm not happy how they shipped it. they shoved it into a USPS box with no packing material and it didn't even cover the entire surface of the box and shipped it UPS Ground. Part of the pioneer box was showing and the corner of the box was damaged, but no physical damage to the unit. I'll never buy from them again. Liza promised to upgrade the shipping which she also didn't do.

Ok... Of course after I posted my reply my bluetooth started going crazy... it's now not auto-connecting, I have to manually re-connect it even though the option is set to ON.

App radio sucks as bad as it does on the Z150BH, somehow I get the feeling that they knew carplay was coming so they purposely made connections like appmode almost useless to steer people to carplay compatible units which I'm sure they get licensing fees for.
