  1. yes I upgraded from a D1 to a F90BT. No it is not just plug and play, the wire harness is different. It wasn't that difficult to swap out though. I just sat the two harnesses side by side and as I disconnected a wire I hooked it up to the appropriate wire on the new harness.
  2. my f90 is completely stock, as is, out of the box with v2.0 software. I have never even put an SD card in the slot. but I guess I could try down loading the 2.0 software and "reloading" it to see if that fixes it.
  3. no new news to report, same old problem. I too bought off of ebay, so I think I'll just sit on it until the next update comes out and hope that some how fixes it. I think that for some reason it can't over write the VR file. I wonder if we can manually delete the file via this testmode hacking stuff. I've been reluctant to play with it cause I'm not very good at that kinda of stuff.
  4. I have this exact same problem on my F90BT. I have yet to figure out a solution but I think it is related to "updating Ipod VR" problems. Here are my observations: 1) HU in a F350 desiel, so it gets rebooted in the middle of start up everytime truck is started. 2) ipod 80 gig appeared to update VR lib first time but since then whenever VR update is turned on, get the never ending "update in progress" message. 3) If I try "short" button push for VR or "long" push for mute with VR update turned on, the system locks up as described by ostate04, and the only way to get out of it is to switch
  5. I had what sounds like a very similar issue with my Samsung Flipshot. Finally, took it back to Verizon and got a new one, it now work fine, the guy said that it had something to do with the "early" Flipshots, we got the forst one last April.
  6. I finally got the phone to connect. I stopped by the Verizon store and complained. They tried a brand new Samsung Flipshot phone and, although the firm ware of the phone was the same as our "old" one, it worked fine on the first try. The Verizon dude said something to the affect that the "early Flipshot phones had issues". We got ours last April, according to the guy that was when they first came out. Anyway, they wouldn't give me the new phone but they shipped me a replacement phone and that phone also worked first try.
  7. I had my original D1 installed at Hitech Auto Sound on the East hill of Kent. They did a good job. A couple of weeks ago I replaced the D1 with a F90BT myself. It was pretty simple.
  8. Hey Tom Two questions 1) are you still thinking of using aluminum? In particular the black one? I would be interested in that over the stainless, although for 12 bucks I can just buuy both and choose later. 2) For the people worried about grip, could you knurl the outer diameter to give more grip instead of the groove and o-ring? I look forward to getting the one I ordered. thanks paul
  9. I'd be interested in buying a stainless knob. Do you use paypal? I wonder what it would look like made out of bronze (nice gold color)?

I don't remember doing anything special to go from one to the next. Just press the seek up or down button. On my F90BT it will seek up to the next station it finds and if there is a multicast it shows a "1" after the frequency and then it seek up again and it changes from "1" to "2" same frequency. If I hit seek up again it goes to the next frequency with "1".
  11. My Moto Q is the original. I got it when they first came out. I don't know what firmware it has but I can tell you I have never updated it. However, the MotoQ is not the phone I'm having trouble with. It connected easily and works just fine with the F90BT. It's my wife's Samsung Flipshot that doesn't work with the F90. By the way both phones are connected through Verizon, if it makes a difference.
  12. I did it from the phone. I did it several times. The phone and the Avic see each other and pair to each other and I get a message that says something to the fact of "communications established successfully". Everything looks to be working, the blue light is one and the icons are available, but then the phone does some kind of restart and the connection is dropped. It does this continuously cycling about every 20 or 30 seconds.
  13. did not work. I updated the bluetooth firmware to the 2.90 version and I still have the same problem. The phone and F90 connect and pair with each other just fine, however, after about 15 seconds the phone restarts and the connection is lost. If I have the auto connect on then it reconnects witht the F90 for about 15/20 seconds and then the phone restarts. It will keep doing this until I turn auto connect off. Kind of frustrating, any other ideas?
  14. I just installed an F90BT in my wife's truck. It connected just fine with my Moto Q, but when I went to show her how to use the dang thing and connect her phone it wouldn't work it keeps dropping the connection. She has a Samsung Flipshot as well. The F90 came with the blue and orange dots indicating the latest firm ware (there's even a sticker on the box saying 2.0). I would never have thought to go look at Pioneers update web site info to find out that you need a different BT version. My question.... the instructions say to download both the F-series system firmware (version 2) and
  15. Thanks for the info. I went ahead and ordered a F90BT off of ebay with the MS cashback deal. I hope it's not a mistake, but I figured even without a true Pioneer warranty for 480 bucks I could afford to pay to get it fixed if needed in the future. My D1 is about 3 years old and has been fine, other then the screen calibration issue and that started after about 2 years, so it would have been out of warranty anyway. I have never installed one of these but I figured the hard work is pretty much done for me since my D1 is already installed, I'm assuming that all I have to do is locate the c
