  1. Wow you must have good ears AND a great sound system. When you were encoding with LAME, did you set all quality settings on highest? At 320kbps, even jesus can't hear the lossy-ness.
  2. I think F-series is only capable of reading ID3 tags from mp3 containers. If you really are such an audiophile, I'd convert those .wavs into mp3 with 320bkps bitrate to preserve maximum quality. I personally don't hear the quality change after 160kb/sec, but I always aim for 192kb/sec just to be on the safe side. After 192kb/sec, there's really no difference, at least for me.
  3. Hey! I'm trying to find a decent screen protector for my F90BT. You can find some on ebay, but I'm apprehensive about buying a no-name screen protector. If you own one, would you recommend it? So far, my choice has been Boxwave screen protectors. I bought one for my Dell Axim and I have absolutely no complaints. However, they do not have a screen protector for AVIC F-series. Does anyone know if there's any other device that uses the same LCD panel? If so, I could just purchase a screen protector for that device and it should fit just fine.
  4. Yep, those are exactly what I got (now that I got the newer/better wire harness). I'll keep you posted - thanks a lot for your help, I appreciate it.
  5. Thanks, I just ordered that specific wire harness to avoid any issues. The extra wires I was talking about are the ones that come with a special clip on them; I think it was red (maybe f700bt doesnt have one?). By the way, did you have to order a special trim piece for your yaris s? My yaris came with an integrated radio with a 3" lcd screen, so I had to order a standard 2DIN trim piece. Did you do the same?
  6. Hey everyone. I was wondering if anyone has installed any of the in-dash F-series into a Toyota Yaris. I got a wiring kit, and all the wires match up fine except for Dimmer wire. My wire harness only has an Orange cable and AVIC wants orange/white cable. What's more confusing is that the harness itself lists both orange and orange/white cable, but I can only see the orange one. This wire harness came with a metra kit from ebay, so I think this isn't Metra 70-1761 toyota wire harness. If anyone has used Metra 70-1761, can you tell me if all the wires from the wire harness match up with nec
  7. bah, once the transaction is completed, they can't do anything about that. Well, let's not get greedy, $168 off is still pretty damn good
  8. I had 10% off coupon too, but didn't use it.. I contacted their support later, and they told me I cannot combine two discounts
  9. In the video, in the beginning, they mention improvements to USB/SD but they don't talk about it anywhere else. Are there significant improvements in USB/SD music playback or is it all the same?
  10. I just purchased F90bt for $506. For now, if you search for avic on live.com, you'll see the 25% off offer.
  11. Hey everyone. I'm seriously considering buying an F-series unit, and I've seen plenty of posts from people stating that they bought F90bt for around $500 without MSN rebate. The best I could find, and that includes MSN ebay rebate is 530 with free shipping. Where do you guys see those things for $500?
  12. ok great. I figured that I'd have to buy an Ipod for the media library functionality (really not that much more anyways, as you mentioned), I just wanted to make sure first. Thanks for your help!
  13. Hey everyone. I recently stumbled upon F700BT and it looks like this is the unit I've been waiting for (I was thinking of building a carputer before that). One of my problems with it is that it looks like to get a full media library for it, you need an Ipod. For those who own this unit (or similar), is there a way to run the media library off an SD card or a portable hard drive attached to the unit? I'm talking about cover art, voice search etc. In the video review, it looked like music played from an SD card just used simple file/folder structure. Thanks!
