    Look this mod

Does it work with other models? Has anyone tried it with F90BT?

    SWI-PS

Is this a stock steering wheel? It fits AVIC's functionality surprisingly well
  3. Thanks! I speak Russian, and according to the specifications on that page, my idea is unfortunately, not possible. Oh well
  4. nobody knows about the IP Bus interface?
  5. I've seen hacks made to IP Bus interface that allow adding an extra AUX input. I've also seen this adapter that lets a user interface with a native acura/honda headunit from a PC (http://forums.fluxmedia.net/input-devic ... apter.html) So I've been trying to look up an IPBus pinout but so far I've only found pages that refer primarily to this one: http://stereophonik.com/gutterslide/IP-BUS_Hack/ So here's my idea: Use Pioneer headunit for its screen and amplification and hook up a computer to it. To figure out if this is at all possible, I need to figure out what the rest of the pins me
  6. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.8422 That one seems to do the job (look at the videos). One thing that's nicer about this Ipod adapter is that it doesn't need batteries, since it draws power from the usb port. The 3.5mm adapter works with mini-usb to keep it powered, but it's certainly not as elegant of a solution.
  7. Thanks for the reply VBlue. That's a shame that this device transforms IPOD connector into simple usb with A/V. I thought that it actually emulates the IPOD interface, with all its bells and whistles. If it did support the Ipod interface, then AVIC wouldn't have to be compatible with AVRCP. AVIC just sends a standard Ipod "Pause" command, for instance, and the bluetooth module converts Ipod Pause to AVRCP pause. I guess that's too much to hope for. In that case, I don't see anything new - as I said, you can get a cheap 3.5mm bluetooth dongle and get A2DP from your AV2 (in the front) as well a
  8. I wonder why you need to switch AV1 to Video from Ipod. This thing emulates an Ipod interface for all intents and purposes, it looks like. It also supports AVRCP, so it technically should be able to provide your AVIC with Artist/Title information, and let you control your connected bluetooth device from AVIC with commands such as Play, Pause and Rewind. If all you get is a generic audio input over bluetooth, it seems it would be underwhelming - after all, 3.5mm to Bluetooth dongles have been on the market for a while. I wonder if such devices exist to support video as well as audio. I don'
  9. Maybe I missed something, but what's the difference between 3.0 (the version uploaded for this thread) and 3.1 (it's mentioned throughout this thread). I got the files, but I'm not sure if I should update to 3.0 or wait for 3.1 Thanks!
  10. paQ is right. Nowhere in F-series unit description does it mention OBD support.
  11. I had this problem once. I wasn't sure if it's because it was cold outside and the hard drive could have been malfunctioning, the F-series messing with the Ipod or w/e.. but I connected the Ipod to the computer, did "Restore Ipod", reuploaded all the songs and it stopped doing that. I recommend you try the same. I think it's most likely your Ipod, rather than the F-series. Ipod handles all the decoding and the sound that comes from it just passes through to the amp inside the unit. If it skips (as in pauses, and then plays from the part where it skipped) it means most likely your Ipod is stru
  12. Sounds like you did not hook up your parking wire correctly. Either do that, or perform the hardware bypass. Software bypass only takes care of half of this problem.
  13. I have an Ipod video 5th gen 30gb, and I used to have the same problem. I bought the Ipod used and not in the greatest of conditions (what do u want for $60?). The battery would die almost every day, so I bought a replacement battery online. I had an unrelated problem with songs getting "stuck", like a bad CD skipping, but that was fixed when I reset my ipod and re-uploaded all the songs. I live in MA and it's below freezing pretty constantly here, and at night it gets close to 0F, but my Ipod has been truly working like a champ!
  14. Engage the handbrake and see if any of those options get enabled. If you did not do the hardware bypass, some options get disabled by the unit for "safety", unless the parking brake is on.
  15. All weather-related problems I'm having so far are with the Ipod. If it's cold enough, it won't show up as an available source until the battery warms up enough. After that, the harddrive has troubles reading the files for another 20-30 minutes.
  16. I recently got a new Samsung Eternity from ATT (great phone btw). I switched from an old Nokia 6820. Here is my experience with bluetooth with my old nokia and F90BT: 1. Call: Phone book name shown. Number is shown under the name 2. Text Message: Voice announcement "You've got a message". Recipient is always UNKNOWN. TTS voice does not read the actual message. Now with the new phone: 1. Call: Only number is shown. That's very uncomfortable, since I don't remember most numbers and rely on names in my phone book. 2. Text Message: NOTHING. No announcement. No TTS. Nada. Do you g
  17. They sent me an anti-glare one. I'm very satisfied with it - the fit is right, installation was pretty easy - just push out the bubbles. The touchscreen works just like before. The screen doesn't get any noticeably darker than without the screen protector, and you can just bump up the brightness in case it does for you. Anti-glare helps a bit, but don't hope for too much - in direct sunlight, the screen is still barely visible, but no screen protector is going to fix that.
  18. Yeah, you definitely did not hook up the parking brake wire right. Navi and System settings are greyed out until you actually pull on the handbrake. If I were you, I'd do a hardware bypass in addition to software bypass. For hardware, you only need to ground the parking brake wire, and software bypass will take care of the rest.
  19. as I've mentioned before, I haven't received it yet, so I can't comment on anti-glare properties or touchscreen. I have same brand screen protector for my pda, and its great for reducing glare, but it makes the image just a tad bit duller (but a very tiny amount). For touchscreen, I actually find the texture of the screen protector better than the screen itself, its a bit less slick so you can make better and more accurate contact.
  20. Hey everyone. About a month ago, I was looking for a screen protector for F90BT, but couldn't find one from a well-known brand. So I emailed Boxwave and after an automated ("thank you, we'll look into it" email), an actual human contacted me and said that if I measured the screen and send him the measurements, they'll start making them. They even sent me a template sticker to confirm the measurements. You can find the screen protectors here: http://dyn.boxwave.com/products/product ... submit.y=9 I haven't received mine yet, but if it doesn't fit, don't blame me
  21. The real question is - do you really want it there? In the manual, Pioneer stresses the importance of pointing the microphone directly at the driver so it can pick up more voice and less noise. This looks like it will point directly at your junk

    F900BT or F700

I have F90BT (it's definitely F90BT), and in testmode, it also says F700. F700 does not have MSN direct, so if you go to Navigate and have MSN Direct available in the bottom right corner - you are all set.
  23. 1. The brand is iGo but it's skinned and customized by Pioneer. 2. iGo has several annoying problems, like bad 2D view, poor TTS etc. 3. You can either purchase it legally or download it illegally. The choice is yours really. 4. Not exactly. LeetLauncher does its best to make it seamless, but it's not that easy. Different GPS programs have different integration problems. Look at LeetLauncher post for more details. 5. Yes. Avic units run Windows CE 5.0 natively on an ARM processor. The TestMode trick just prevents the Pioneer shell from loading on startup.
  24. OK Thanks Blue, I'll give that a shot.
