  1. You may not be able to put the phone away. It appears that Pioneer has given developers the option to decide if they want to display something on the iPhone or not. Check out these screen shots to see what I mean. This first one displays the iphone with the generic AppRadio screen. On this second one the iphone shows navigation directions while the map tracks your progress.
  2. Here is a picture of the vtl110. It is the same as tillithz except that the camera is mounted in a whole frame. The chrome doesn't look shiny in the picture because my car was really dirty.
  3. In the third picture I see a bright vertical line. It appears to be caused by the glare off the car (sun reflection). I used to have this same issue with my camera. I got rid of it by turning down the brightness on the Z1 for the rearview camera.
  4. I have the vtl110 installed. It is similar to the vtl300 mentioned by johul except that it is chrome. It has a .3 lux rating and I find it to be very sensitive to light. I finally figured out that the Z1 allows me to adjust the brightness and this allowed me to get a better picture. So far I am very happy with the look of the camera and the quality of the image. The only issue I have is a little noise in the image which I will correct with a noise suppressor.
  5. Hi OSUV, let's see here... The noise occurs in full and split view mode. It does not occur in either view when the car is NOT running. I could not wire the reverse wire directly to a reverse bulb because the X5 sends a pulse down the wire instead of a steady current. The pulse makes the Z1 think that I am moving in and out of reverse. The end result is that the image turns on and off. I had to use the pulsed reverse wire to power a relay, when the relay kicks on then power is sent to the reverse wire (from a constant source) (I know, a pain, but at least the pulsed current is stron
  6. I have also determined that the noise follows the beat of my music. When I turn the volume up loud with something that has heavy bass the image reacts to every beat.
  7. Well there are no pinched wires (as far as I can tell anyway). I think the important aspect of this problem is that it works fine with the car off. If wire connection was a problem then I would think the noise would display whether the car was on or off. I'll try to isolate the video wire. Maybe it is sitting to close to a power wire.
  8. That could be. I had to route it through some tight spots. I'll double check it.
  9. No I don't have another camera. I can see where you are going though. That would narrow it down to either the camera or the wires. Well since the camera works fine with the car off then it leads me to believe that either I can't find a clean power\ground source or the camera is not capable of blocking any line noise (not sure if a camera should do this anyway).
  10. I installed a Boyo VTL110 license plate camera. When my car (BMW X5) is not running the picture looks fine (reverse and split view works). When the car is running the picture has horizontal interference. I can still see the picture okay but the whole screen is covered with lines. At first I thought I had bad connections as I am using the same hot and ground wires for the radio. I tried grounding directly to the car's body and pulled hot from an unused connector in the fuse box. Now the static is worst than it was before! Other video works fine. I played a DVD and it looked fine with
  11. Okay, I had a chance to test the re-routing again today. This time the Z1 took me on a slightly different path and got me to my destination. Why different this time? The answer is my destinations are slightly different. Today I had the actual address entered in. A few days ago I had my parking spot entered in (At my job I have an assigned parking space). When I had my other navigation systems I would sit in my parking spot and tell the system to save my current location. Then when I navigate to work the systems would take me right to my spot. The Z1 doesn't like this. I think it
  12. I just went out to XM's website, looks like you are right. They depend on many services for information. I also found another factor that could impact information. I took it from this link http://www.xmradio.com/navtraffic/faq.xmc. Why does my navigation system not display all of the traffic data as shown available on the market coverage maps? To display the XM NavTraffic service, a navigation system requires a map database from NAVTEQ or TeleAtlas/GDT. Specific coding relating to the display of the traffic data is contained in the map database and is updated with the release of ne
  13. Check the owner's manual. It says you can have 3 sets of presets for XM which gives you a total of 18. Us the Band button to cycle through them.
  14. I get the same behavior. Sometimes it knows other times it does not. The information is based on the navigation data, not the manufacture date of the Z1. Take a look in your owner's manual it says that the data is from 2004. You would think that it would still know which side of the street is even and which is odd regardless of the year of the data.
  15. I was running late today and didn't have time to take the detour route. I'll try again tomorrow. The Z1 did a much better job today for my normal route. It routed me directly to my building. It still says I am at the destination a little before I actually arrive. It appears that this is by design. If that is true they should consider changing it so that it performs the way other navigation products do.
