Yes - post amended to clarify. I didn't look at speed info. But I imagine that will be the same as for you. I would prefer to have better post code searching with the TA maps. Perhaps in the next map update it will be better.

TA=TeleAtlas NV=Navteq I've been trying out the difference between the 090424 TeleAtlas maps and the 090609 (Q1 09) Navteq maps (with the respective basemaps (0408 for NV and 0209 for TA). I believe I have the standard 3d building files from the stock EU V3 Things I've noticed: 1. 7 digit postcode searching in the NV maps is much better than the TA maps for the UK. Two postcodes that I previously could not access using the TA maps worked with the NV maps. 2. Routing seems faster with the NV maps in the UK 2. I can't seem to unpack this archive. I start with part 3 but then I get the following message: need following file to continue: avic f900_700_500 ver_3.000301(part3).rar That doesn't exist in the file list - because the file names have been changed I think. Is there any way to unpack these files with the new names? Thanks

Hello Can anyone post a quick howto for using this mod on EU units? I see there was a message about getting the TMC in Europe to work, anything else (like taking out the MSN stuff and anything else we don't have). Would be cool to have an IDT3.0 V3.1EU version!

Thanks Brian that's good to know. I might try the IDT 3.0 v2 mod with teleatlas maps+hacked EZrider when I'm feeling brave. Don't know how the IDT mods will fare in an EU unit though. Did you get 3d buildings and POIs all in the same package with the maps or are they seperate packs? Cheers Stewart

I'm looking for this simple mod too for 3.01 EU. I don't mind copying the code if I know where to put it. I don't mind reading how to do it too, if somebody can point me to where the info is at. Searching for this info through the search function isn't helpful. Too many hits and it's too narrow a subject to know what the correct keywords are.

Looks like the mods for new firmware are coming fast. Having done a search on the F Series hacks board, I can't see any specific mod bundles for the EU unit. Can anyone help? I'd like Cancel route and navigation voice mute primarily, but wouldn't mind some of the button rearrangement mods that I've read about. UK 7 digit postcodes no longer get an exact location. You now need to add a house number always. This really sucks.

Is anyone else running V3 (Igo 8.3 I think) having problem with UK postcode searching? Previously I could type a 7 digit postcode into the city box and the unit would pretty much do the rest - didn't need to enter house number or anything. Now I add the postcode it's registered but then asks for more info like street name or house number. That's really frustrating when you are say visiting a hospital which doesn't have a house number. With some of the postcodes, even center of street is greyed out so the only option I have is to enter a random house number. Is there a setting that I've

Can confirm you don't need the data.zip in the nested folder. There are two sets of 'data' data.zip and another folder called data in the root. The annoying beeps are in that folder, but you can replace them really easily. Just look in your new data.zip from the update and copy them across then replace the ones you don't like. I now have nice soft button sounds all around!

That's really helpful - thanks - I think the fitters may have disconnected them from the crossover if this didn't fit into the VW harness. Is there an easy way of adding them back to the harness? I'll have to take it out to have a look to see if they are in.

There is only one data.zip folder in the official F710 update, in the APL2 folder. It's also considerably larger (more sounds and fodlers) than the one that I linked to earlier, so not sure if that one is ok to use.

I was going to ask do we need to replace the data.zip with the V3 version. There is a link to it here http://www.bit4net.com/files/avic/newst ... 3/DATA.zip The only reason is that there seems to be a mixture of key beep sounds. One quite harsh on the menu screen and a much nicer softer beep for navigation screen and internal menus. Is this correct or should it be all just the new soft sound?

I have a VW Polo 9N3 which has 4 speakers - two in front doors and two pillar tweeters. I've just noticed that the pillar speakers are not active. I don't think they ever have been. Does anyone know if this is normal for this unit - ie they can't be used with the F700BT? I know it has 4 speaker input and a sub but maybe not tweeter speakers? I think the fitters must have used a harness adaptor from VW-ISO but I haven't taken out the unit to look. Any ideas how to proceed? I'd like to use the speakers as I have them in the car! I've looked at fad/bal on the unit and if I put it all

Is there a FAQ for backing up/restoring an Avic F series? I've searched multiple forums and threads with the term backup and am going around in circles. I can get to booting into testmode. Do I simply copy myflashdisk to the SD then keep it safe? Restoring would be the reverse? This doesn't seem to be written down anywhere.
