  1. Definitely nothing at all in there. For example, I have a number like this: John Doe, 15152223333, the ID is "3". So I say "Call John Doe mobile", and it replies "Showing all artists." It does this for EVERY number, and it's driving me crazy. I've even tried deleting the pairing and re-pairing, re-editing, and still nothing. My iPod Nano works perfectly with voice commands, as does dialing by saying "Call 5152223333" works perfectly. *sigh* I guess it doesn't work with iPhone 3Gs.
  2. I'm having the exact same problem as the original poster with my iPhone 3G. I used SQL to edit the contacts into the 15525225222 format, and still voice dial doesn't work, and generally says "Showing all artists" when I try it.
  3. I can not for the life of me get Voice Dial to work with my iPhone 3G. I have the contacts edited. Before editing, they were in this format on the AVIC F700BT: 1(555)555-5555. Now I have them as 15555555555. Still no luck. Usually just replies "playing all artists" or something like that. Does someone have some piece of information I'm missing? Kinda beginning to drive me nuts... Thanks..
  4. Waiting for the black one is killing me. Just so you know..!!
  5. The wait for a black one is killing me... Ooer... So do we have a more specific timeframe? Need...knob....!
  6. Here's a quote: "He does some research and finds a firmware upgrade. I will give him credit though, he actually got a competing stereo store to install the upgrade for me (they already had it on an SD card). " So let's recap. HE did the research. HE got a COMPETING stereo store (like we care) to install the upgrade FOR YOU. So that was all him. Not you. Not Aunt Jemima. So you come on here and rant with all your years' experience, and yet you still weren't capable of figuring out if there was a firmware upgrade or not. I'm just guessing your stereo isn't installed correctly, c
  7. You really are a troll. There is such a thing as expressing your opinion without coming across as a total cretin. Congratulations on getting someone to install your firmware update for you. 15 years of experience clearly has taken you to a level I can never hope to attain. Now I'll go back to enjoying my working F700BT. But I must be kidding myself, right?
  8. Some of us are having NO dropped calls, no locking up etc. I really think this is phone dependent.
  9. wrong, works fine Hehe ok maybe it works. I had trouble with my SD card, not USB, sorry. It was skipping on videos. I feel like the SD interface was more of an afterthought and a way to upgrade the firmware. iPod connectivity is a lot better...
  10. " am presenting an honest appraisal of my experience with this unit as both a computer and car-stereo expert of 15-plus years. " Really? 15-plus years, and an expert no less? You'd think an "expert" would know about firmware upgrades, AND how to do it himself, but I digress. USB music doesn't work. OK, a given. It's flaky. But if you use an iPod, it works flawlessly (at least for me, apparently). I have music within 20 seconds, and I can change the volume and skip tracks before the unit even fully loads. I get no disconnections when I turn my car on via my phone, and turning the ca
  11. While I admire the install, the 350Z is not a car I would bother installing an AVIC in. It's so low down in the car! Just try not to crash into anyone while staring close to your pedals... I exaggerate, but you sort of get the point...
  12. Works perfectly with my F700BT, so that's a yes, connected to the USB on the device. All cover art etc works perfectly. So you're a go! awesome, and love the enthusiasm lol. how about the videos on it? lets say i got a few movies in there. will it play with the 4th gen nano too? not only jsut music, but it charges too correct? Yes to both your concerns. Video plays perfectly, and it charges like a champ. You're still good to go.
  13. I pried off the front piece, connected the cable, and all is well now. Thanks.
  14. OK so I've had the unit installed in my 08 STI for over 2 weeks now. I've been using the navigation, BT connection and iPod connectivity with no issues. I tried to use the FM/AM radio tonight, and get absolutely nothing but hiss/static and it can't find any stations. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance for any help...
  15. Here you go, from my 4th gen iPod Nano 16GB. Sorry it's a little blurry, but you get the idea...:
  16. Yes that's how my iPod Nano 1st gen would output. My 16GB 4th Gen Nano does NOT look like that. Lemme go get a picture....
  17. I'd also like a way to customize the iPod options. I don't want to see a "Genres" tab if I don't ever use it....
  18. Works perfectly with my F700BT, so that's a yes, connected to the USB on the device. All cover art etc works perfectly. So you're a go!
  19. The cover art from my new latest-gen iPod Nano is great on my F700BT. It looked VERY pixely on my 1st gen 2GB Nano on the AVIC, so I think this will be iPod dependent. I have tried a ipod classic 80 and 120, 3rd gen nano, 4th gen nano, 2nd gen nano, ipod touch gen 1 and 2 and my old school 30gb all with the same result. Well that's odd. The first time I had my 1st gen Nano installed, my wife said she thought the cover art looked awful, especially when zoomed in by tapping it. By switching to a 4th gen 16GB Nano with the SAME music, it's MILES better. Got any pictures you can post he

  21. I've owned my F700BT for a few weeks now, and it's clear, with the 2.0 update, that there are still some obvious things that could be added. I'll start off... 1.) Please fix the occasional iPod not connected that happens when you start the car. (To fix it, I have to unplug my iPod and re-plug it in). 2.) Please fix the appalling Bluetooth implementation: a.) My music should PAUSE, not be muted, when a call comes in. b.) I should be able to adjust the volume from the volume dial when on a call, not having to take my eyes off the road to push those tiny volume touch-screen buttons that
  22. Haha thanks! I quite like the unit, but its ability to play music and navigate CLEARLY came before its ability to be a BT headset for your phone. The implementation is atrocious.
  23. That just boggles my mind (along with the awful way of changing call volume while in a call - you should be able to turn the volume dial!!).
