Surely thats tosh? The biggest current draw on any vehicle is the starter motor: the draw from the battery by an Avic unit is negligible during start-up. This is why the unit switches off - the starter draws all of the battery supply so the power to the Avic drops significantly, acting in the same way as turning off the ignition. Start your car with the headlights on - you'll see my point........

Need coding help to display the date correctly - now solved
dumpystig replied to N-S-E-W's topic in Hacks/Mods
I altered 'x' and 'y' in Boris' example on previous page, hoping to get the date somewhere close to being in between the clock and the compass - but after replacing the DATA.zip and re-starting, it just hung at the "System startup...." screen. So for now I've commented-out the date text until I can come up with a solution. Looks like this will keep me busy again over the next few days LOL! Thanks again for your help, it's much appreciated Mark. -

Can anyone tell me why a lot of my posts are coming up twice, when I'm only clicking 'submit' once?

Need coding help to display the date correctly - now solved
dumpystig replied to N-S-E-W's topic in Hacks/Mods
Been trying to add this to my 500, I want it below the clock @ top right. But I'm not sure what the relationship of the 'z....' and 'w....' are to the positioning. Can anyone help me out? Cheers -

This post/review/submit msg thing sucks! I use Mavs' mods, as you know, but where I live there's not much chance of getting higher than 250m/475', otherwise I'd be glad to contribute

Here's a list of the tweaks I've made to Mavericksters DATA.zip hacks, just to get my 500 looking how I want it: - Altered font/glow colours on clock, speed/speed limit, GPS altitude and route info box. Font #FFFFFF (white), glow 0000CD (blue 3). - Moved GPS altitude to bottom left of screen, this enables Speedcam warning box to be fully displayed; original speed/speed limit covered most of Speedcam box. - Moved speed/speed limit to top left of screen, same level as clock, much easier to read up there and less clutter. - Moved GPS button higher and further right, midway between

N-S-E-W thanks, you were right, prob solved! But I can't find anything in the manual, surely it should describe this 'feature'? Anyway, thanks again. Mark

Thanx for quick reply, I will try this in a few hours on my way to work. Gotta get some sleep now, up in 4 hours. I'll let you know if this solves it.

Well, after doing this mod I thought all was well, but I'm having problems with the map guidance - the maps stay in same position on screen, but the arrow moves along the route until it disappears off the screen! this happens in both 2D and 3D. The only tweaks I've done to Mavericks Data.zip hack is to change font size/glowsize/colours on the clock, multi info window and speed/limit display. Can anyone help me with this? Cheers, Mark BTW, it's a 500 Euro mpdel

After installing Mavs mods I've been doing a little tweaking - IMO the black font/white glow on the clock/speed info/elevation were sometimes hard to interpret on the maps at particular times, so I've tried loads of colour combos. This works great for me, on both day and night maps: color=#FFFFFF (white) [glow]color2=#0000CD (blue 3/medium blue) If anyone tries it please let me know what you think.

Pioneer AVIC F500-BT..battery issue
dumpystig replied to quincy24's topic in Problems/Troubleshooting
It's not just your battery mate, mine is the same - in fact sometimes I don't even get 15mins run-time! IMO it's the screen that uses up all the power, or Pioneer have supplied a batch of dud batteries. If anyone else with a 500 gets much more than 15mins, let us know. -

You will need a prog for opening zipped files - I use 7zip, works fine, Google it and download
