  1. ok, i found this diagram here: http://www.chevroletforum.com/forum/sho ... hp?t=28134 scroll to the bottom and you will see a diagram. can someone tell me which wire i should tap off to for the composite video signal? It seems like it should be one of these, but i dont understand which one: 6 0.35 WH 7641 Camera Signal (+) (UVC with Y91) 0.35 PK 6972 Camera Signal (+) (UVC without Y91) 7 0.35 L-BU 7642 Camera Signal (-) (UVC with Y91) 0.35 L-BU 6973 Camera Signal (-) (UVC without Y91) FYI, if you have a chevy, the Metra Gmos-01 has all the wiring for the speakers/power/vehicl
  2. hi, i own a 2010 chevy traverse and it has a factory reverse camera installed. the video appears on the rear view mirror, but i also wanted the video to appear on my Avic F-series unit. Does anyone know how to hack/split the video cable? I am not at my car now, but was not sure what type of connector it was, and if it was possible to split it. I imagine it is probably similar to other chevy cars with factory reverse cameras, so if anyone has experience, please post! Thanks! Ian
  3. thats really cool the MSN traffic works better. makes me wish i got the 900 version, but it was already a push to get the 700.
  4. the upgrade was great. Yes, it did take a while and i did leave my car engine on so i would not drain my battery, which was a waste of some gas. I only had to hit the retry button once during the install when it reached 98%, but other than that, the install was very great. I agree that entering in the product key was obnoxious in that they hid the text. That was not swift. Also, i always assumed that a 0 was zero, and not an O. That seemed to help w/ the product key. The avic f700bt is so much faster now in every way. The screen is much more responsive. The best part is that playing movies
  5. My understanding is that as long as it is a VHF/UHF antenna, it will receive both digital and analog signals. The antenna is not the issue w/ getting digital TV reception while driving, its the converter box. This was discussed earlier. You basically have to have a fancy digital converter box that can take into account motion (like a cell phone).
  6. If you have an ipod, i would recommend connecting the TV to the AV2 input on the front. I know its not as nice looking, but you can make the wire so you only plug it in when you need it (basically when you are not moving since the tuner wont work while driving). I tried splitting my AV1 input w/ the ipod, but it degreaded the audio volume and i got alternator induced noise. This is the cable i got: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0042584144 its retractable, so its super nice in that you can just retract it away when you dont need it
  7. Hi, I just installed the Artec T3AP converter box w/ this antenna: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0283642608 The installation was easy, and the antenna fit in great in the head panel between the roof and the head board. The reception with the antenna was just as good as with my home antenna. The only problem was once i started moving, even at 5 mph, i would lose the digital signal. Its really neat though in that it works well when you are stopped. I will install the converter box in my glove box so that way I can change channels when i need to. ANyways, if anyone has had any lu
  8. i have a suggestion. you can get wireless internet USB cards from verizon or sprint. I had a wireless internet notebook card from verizon and it worked well while my wife was driving and i was using the laptop. I wonder if you used the USB wireless internet card connected to the USB cable from the back of the AVIC? Anyone else tried this?? I bet it would work, which would be very neat. Im just not sure if they make windows CE drivers.
  9. darn, that is what i figured. i have never seen it as a feature on a GPS unit either. I just turned his annoying voice all the way down and just follow the green line
  10. did some searching and found the best box to use for the car: http://www.ezdigitaltv.com/Artec_T3AP_Pro.html it has 12V cigarette lighter power and RCA outputs and is super small. So you can just hook it up to the back of the AVIC and it will work very easily. Its $50, but with the $40 coupon, its $10.
  11. has anyone tried to use their car radio antenna (no one responded to the previous post on this)? I would think that should work well and be a very neat installation, no extra antenna to mount. Also, are there any sticker type antennas available that you can mount to your windsheild, it would look kinda like your rear window defroster?
  12. hi, i found a post where someone talked about adjusting the gps navigation voice notification frequency. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=14111&p=91772&hilit=navigation+prompt#p91772 specifically, the guy gives you way too much notice. For example, they tell you how much farther till you turn, then tell you 3 times before you turn that you are about to turn. Is there a way to have it so he will just say "turn right at Main St"? Thanks, Ian
  13. i use PQ to DVD Ipod video suite and it works really well. its very fast and very easy to use. Its $40, but whatever, its fast and easy, and thats all i care about.
  14. yeah, the video playback from the SD card can get slow and choppy, especially while trying to do something else (like phone or navigation). Just use your Ipod. I actually bought and itouch just for watching videos. Your whole system will work much faster w/ using the ipod.
  15. great, it worked! thanks for the advice, the pencil tip worked well.
