1. Bummer... honestly that is retarded as there really is no good line of sight if it mounted on the streering wheel, plus all the daylight issues. Guess that explains the simmilar problems I'm experiencing with the CD-SR11 I got with my old N1 unit but still works with my new Z1... These really should have been RF
2. OK, so are BOTH the "CD-SR11" and the newer "CD-SR1" Infrared?
3. One important thing everyone overlooked (I am surprised no one else mentioned it before) is that most DVD players do not play some media not because they cannot, but because they "think" they cannot. I'll explain: All media is indexed with something called a BOOKTYPE. This means that it reports what kind of media it is, kinda like a signature. Most players will read the booktype of a disk (CD/CD+R/CD-R/DVD ROM/ DVD+R/DVD-R/ etc...) and compare it with an internal "supported" formats list, and if there is no match they will not even ATTEMPT to play the media!!! The disk will be con
4. OK, Maybe I am getting retarded at my old age, but how the heck do you dial "*" ( star ) on the Z1 phone dialpad? Or for that matter "#" (pound) All I see is "+" and "-" but no "*" or "#" !!! I need to be able to dial/voice-dial Sprint's Voice Command with a connected BT phone, and it needs to be a single "*" I tried to setup a preffered dial name ( in one of the 5 available slots but cannot seem to have it dial "*" ) Taking the phone out, diling "*" and switching the audio back to the Z1 defeats the whole BT purpose... UGH! Any ideas?
5. OK, here is my 2c: * NEWER/UPDATED maps - big issue with me as main roads that have been active for 2+ years now in booming Weahawken NJ are still shown as minor roads, and not used in calculations. - Alternatively, more often updates, maybe wireless map updates via XM/Sirius... * One touch access to phone menu ( instead of Menu + Information + Phone) - maybe press the "BT" icon!!! Cmon! [edit] * Volume control acting on current call when BT call in progress * Volume control acting on Navi Voice when voice is on * Button re-mapping feature in software - Make button of
6.
The Z1 does take quite a bit longer to boot up, but that makes sense because it's pulling data off the harddrive, which takes longer.
I am sorry, but are you on drugs? What you said makes NO SENSE! Have you tried to boot your computer from a CD/DVD vs. a Hard Drive lately? :-) LOL The OS (Windows Automotive) is in ROM in the unit and only map data and preferences are on the HD. The boot process should be almost instantaneous or at least faster than the AVIC-N1/N3 since they boot the same way but the Z1 reads maps from the HD which is MUCH faster than
7. My bad, reading in order of activity and did not get the FAQ you made till after replying to this. Questions: 1. Have you tried to enlarge the MSV FAT32 Partition beyond the 32GB limit? Did it work? 2. Is it possible that the reason Ducatiboy's HD is crashing is due to the way locking and unlocking is handled? I've seen a lot of drives that do not support locking features causing some grief. While I see that you recomend disabling the security features, maybe it is worth a shot not to and let the Z1 happily lock and unlock the drive... 3. How large is the compressed
8. One thing to note is that while the N1 seemed to like a lot more media, the Z1 does not play the same DVD-R disks that worked fine in the N1. I therefore just use DVD+R with a DVD-ROM booktype. This allows you to trick any DVD player into thinking that you've inserted a factory pressed DVD-ROM disk, not burned media. Just Google "booktype" for more info and to see if you can set your burner to auto-booktype your DVD+R media. I can tell you that all the new BenQ drives support this natively. BTW, booktyping only works with DVD+R and DVD+RW/DL Using booktyping I was running a c
9.
has anybody tried inserting a blank and newly formatted hdd? The slash memory may be able to write new partitions
Doubtfull if this will work. I bet the Z1 looks for specific data/partitions to be present on the HD before it asumes it is a valid drive. Also, "formatting" is not a good idea as we do not know exactly what the format is. If anyone wants to do a test they can low-level format (zero out) a drive and try it but again, I seriousely doubt this will work. We need to unlock the drive, copy the data/partitions to an image file (Ghost, Aronis, etc)
10. I would love to get that "fixed" as well. I also noticed the Z1 takes a lot longer to boot and even show the warning screen compared to the N1/N2...
11. Thank you DucatiBoy, a flawless install! I had ordered my flasher on May 16th, if you recall, but only managed to buy the Z1 last week. Anyway, I had an N1 (upgraded to N2 software) and the stupid restrictions were driving me bonkers. For reference, here is some info: 1. Ducatiboy flasher circuit works like a charm! (provided you can read and follow the most simple instructions) 2. N1 to Z1 upgrade was a lot easier then I thought ( got to keep the mic & gps antenna as well as the XM tuner from the N1 install) 3. Did not ground the parking wire and I never even
