  1. Same here with bad directions. It is curious that Google Maps which seems to run off off Teleatlas maps also seems to do a much better job of routing. On the Avic, 'Fastest' and 'Shortest' both give less than desirable routes. I wish there was some fine tuning whereby I could select a balance between these two settings. Around my place which is a suburban subdivision, the 'Shortest' setting takes me through a maze with turns every 50ft. The same thing on 'Quickest' will take a huge loop around these tiny roads. What Google maps or my brain GPS would say is a combination of both. I

The one problem that I face with some of data.zip mods on the F500 is with the battery bar. Since F700 and F900 do not have a battery, they also don't have a battery status display. Some of these mods cause the battery status bar to be overlaid on some other elements on the middle left part of the screen. I am pretty certain that its position can be changed, but that is then, a mod of a mod.
  3. It is indeed an easy one. You can get it from rarsoft.com It is a free trial which I think goes for 45 days and is fully functional
  4. The Zorrogps site is a bit disorganized so was not able to really see what kind of maps they are selling...but the only maps that will work with the Avic are maps designed for IGo 8.0 and provided by Teleatlas As far as I know the newest IGo 8.0 maps are from q4 2008
  5. I have F500BT and the up/down/left/right control as well as the VR (center button press) are not being used at all by me. Is there any way to map various funtions to these button presses. e.g. 'up' for mute, 'down' for stop navigation etc. ?
  6. You'll have to get creative on Google to find these maps and their names. One way is to find other devices that use the same base software (i.e. Igo 8.0) and see if those devices have updated maps. If yes, then you can use that information to search for these updates maps. Another way is to look at the naming conventions of the existing Avic maps (there is a map for each state in one of the folders) and using those names for searches
  7. Is anyone facing such issues with the TTS reading road names as displayed. eg. Displays: (I) (287 South) TTS Says: "Turn right onto I in 500ft" Displays: South 202/206 TTS says: "Turn right onto South" Also does anyone have problem with next turn showing Area of next turn instead of actual exit number. eg. -when driving along I-287 south, the instruction in the upper green box on screen shows "Bernardsville" instead of showing something like "Exit 17 Rt-22S towards Bernardsville" Is there any way to change the detail show, as I would much prefer seeing the Exit number to
  8. That worked!!! I hit the reset button a couple of times but the unit kept doing the same. Then I pulled the battery out as suggested and presto...all is well with the re-routing. Now only if all the quirks of these units could be solved by a simple reboot
  9. I have been using the f500bt for a few weeks, but since the last couple of days have been having an issue with the re-routing. I drive quite a bit and sometimes take shortcuts for roads that I know, but are not suggested by the Avic. Everytime I do this, the unit announces "Offroad" but makes no attempt to recalculate the route. As soon as I am back on the suggsted path after my shortcuts the unit resumes guiding me from there. Anyone faced this issue and know of any fixes for this
  10. Last night I put the F500BT to my ear and was surprised to hear a whine coming from it. Could there be a hard drive in there? I tried opening the case, but after extensive pulling on the case after opening the screws was not able to figure out what was holding it, and I was a bit afraid to try any more. Anyways, can anyone else conform that their unit has whine as well when operating. ///As an addendum after backing up, I wiped the entire 'My Flash Disk' folder and started the unit. It was stuck at the 'Pioneer' screen but working, which means that the Windows CE installation itse
  11. How did you get all of the Pioneer functions to work with IGo? Using LeetLauncher, I have got IGo8 running (works just fine as a standalone navigation only function) and as described in the first post using the Menu-Down been able to launch the pioneer interface to start music from SD card. There are however issues and these 2 do not play very nice with each other (some issues navigating back and forth, and some sound level problems) Hence, I am wondering if anyone has been able to successfully replace the Pioneer Igo on the flash disk with Igo8, since I assume that would allow much b
  12. Let your car sit outside for a while to pick up the gps again. I dont think there is anything wrong with your GPS, it probably lost its pinpoint location to the satellites. Thanks for you help Leetcoder, I had it outside on for the past hour but no go. The funny thing is your launcher with Igo8 picks up the signal just fine. I have a backup of the whole Flash disk an am now debating if I should just delete it and replace it with the original. UPDATE: Redeleted the iGo file and put a fresh backup of the original iGo file in its place and its working now. Were you able to succ
  13. I just got my F500BT 2 days back and was super dissappointed with the mapping software(old maps, too many key presses to get to "route list", no easy access to gps signal quality, no ability to set heading up instaed of north up) Leetlauncher later, I now have IGo 8 working fine and am very pleased with my purchase.
  14. Should have looked for the "Search" button instead of the "Post" button. Must be the glare on my sceen. Anyways, point taken
