  1. Incorrect, "play song" most definitely works. I use it all the time. However, I do find that the accuracy rate is a bit lower than "artist" or "album" commands. As watkch01 noted, I'll bet a lot of us do have songs of the same name performed by multiple artists (whether they're completely different songs or covers of the same song). But additionally, because there are just so many more songs - period - than artists or albums, the VR has a lot more trouble figuring out exactly what you want to hear. In other words, it probably gets confused not just by identically-named songs, but also ones tha
  2. No, you won't lose any features. The mute wire has nothing to do with the kind of muting you're concerned about. Read the installation manual for details on what the mute wire is for. As for removing the wire, it is a little tricky. I used a small eyeglass screwdriver, which allowed me to press on the plastic tab just enough to let me pull out the wire.
  3. Like others, mine's hidden in the dash, on top of the center HVAC ducts. Every now and then I check the reception, and I regularly get nine satellites showing up as green (i.e. usable signal). I'm pretty sure that's way more than the system needs for accurate navigation.
  4. Not just any old ipod connecter will work, it needs to be the pioneer version with audio and video jacks. ...or the Apple version, which is generally regarded to be of higher quality. I think it's called the Apple composite A/V kit - the one with the ipod connector on one end and RCAs plus USB on the other. There's also a cheaper Rocketfish cable (available at Best Buy) which has been reported to work fine.
  5. After moving the pin for the mute wire, yes, that will work. Those wires just need to be grounded one way or another - all together, separately, whatever. They don't need to be connected together, although that's fine too.
  6. These are good directions. I know instructions are all over this site, but the trickiest part really is getting that mute wire out of its original position - and this isn't typically emphasized. The only thing I'd add (as has also been posted here previously) is just to make sure the mute wire is fully seated in its new position. Push it in really well. superman8262, I think you may have misread chrisfountain's post - the bypass is working perfectly for him. The audio/no video was pre-bypass.
  7. I've been using a Transcend 8GB class 6 with no problems thus far.
  8. It's the cable that plugs into the back of the HU. It's not the power/ground, not the antenna, not the cable that goes to the SCC1 (or SCVDOC1, which is how mine is set up). As has already been stated, simply move it from the "input" port to the "output" port. I made exactly the same mistake.
