So im in the boat right now for a new radio and i can't decide what to go with. I currently have it narrowed down to 3. I realize this is a avic site so the general responses may be skewed towards a pioneer but then again being a former pioneer owner i had some issues with my previous radios so not all of them i would recommend. Anyways moving on. To give a little history ive beenin car audio for about 10+ years. During that time ive owned nothing but high end screens dvd players etc. Previously i had the Avic-Z1. Had that for a couple of years doing the software upgrade to z2 then z3 then mov

Don't know about the new 130 im kinda in the same boat as you as far as a new radio but the nav on the alpine sucks big time. The kenwood i will say has a decent nav but the damn thing takes forever to load up, and is incredibly slow.

Just two things. As someone stated earlier with the old z taking 20 gigs for navigation how is all that going to fit on a flash card in 4. Second Whats the sirius display. Is it still half assed. Ohh one other will it be compatible with the external processor i can't remember the model number right now but its the one that adds time alignment . Would of gotten it for the z but wasn't fully compatible from what i heard.

Well ces is going on this week and pioneer's presentation is on thursday (tomorrow) so lets keep our fingers crossed they give us something decent. I mean i really don't think they would stay with the F-series as that was suppose to just replace the D-series.

Voted other several features i'd like to see actually. !st i would definitely see a full speed ipod interface with video playback like every other freaking radio on the market. Also would to see scrolling on display not just on xm like the sirius display). Also would like to see support for HD Tuner (not that i would use it but i might if it had it). Spectrum analyzer like the avh-6600dvd (6 disc in-dash don't know if they still make it). Upgraded audio section (i.e. 4 volt preouts) if not 4 volt at least full support for the add on 5.1 processor without the use of a seperate wired display. RD

Well looking at pioneers track record with their indash's i'm wondering if were in for a Z4 at ces this year. I mean take a look at the track record. First the n1, n2 then n3 then they overhauled and now we have the n4 (although i will saw we saw a couple more changes year to year then the z series), and the D1, D2, D3 and then now were on to the F-Series, so now we've had the z1, z2 and z3 so will we have a z4 that's finally updated or you think they'll shaft us and end up just doing the same thing again and just release another map update and call it brand new. Honestly i would be happy with

Why does the Z1/Z2 Navigation suck. I'm almost to the point of not wanting to rely on it for trying to find a location. Everytime i try to get to a destination it says i have arrived and my destination is still a block or 2 away and it leave me looking for it. I called pioneer and i got the standard BS about making sure the maps were up to date blah blah blah. The map is up to date its their poor routing software. Just ranting here btu today i typed in a supermarket and it told me to make a uturn and it was across the street. I'm seriously considering buying another system with better routing

Okay maybe i missed something i have a couple of days off from worka nd i was going to attempt this. I ran into two problems if anyone can help. First I went out and purchased and ide adapter but when i went to put it in my computer it wouldn't plug in. Apparently the adapter i have is a 30 pin and the cable from the pc is 29 pin even on the motherboard is 29 pin. Secondly i don't see a diagram on the hard drivve that shows which place to put the jumper. I tried to take the metal plate off but the screws started to strip and i didn't wanna mess them up anymore. Thankx.

You know sounds all nice and everything but i'd like to see them instead of trying to expand why don't they actually work on the markets their in now. Example i live in the dc area and it only works on the virginia side of the beltway maryland side doesn't even give traffic flow. Sucks too cause they say the washington metro area and it's part of it. Also like to see it more accurate sometimes it'll say traffics flowing and im sitting in stop and go while other times it says there's a traffic jam and theres nothing there. Honestlty i do better watching the news in the morning on the way to wor

Got XM/nav traffic, Siriuss, TV Tuner, Changer & Ipod no problems whatsoever. Pioneer lets you daisy chain them all. You shouldn't have any problems. just go ahead and order it. Make sure you leave at least 18" inches between both antennas when you install them.

Well i talked to one of the techs at pioneer to keep you guys updated. He basically concurred with me. Basically from my understanding if the temperature gets too hot it won't run the drive like BSecrest said. Thats why i would hear the xm or ipod or radio. don't use the library much. Unfortunately Don't think there's a resolve for this issue as since this unit is harddrive based. But like I said to him i'd rather have it cut the hard drive and wait for the car to cool rather then fry a 2000+ radio. Hey guys what's up. Basically as the title suggests my z1's been freezing up lately. Had it for about 3 months now with no problems but i've noticed over the past month on and off that ill start the car and it'll stay on the bootup screen. I can hear whatever source i was on previously before i turned the car off. I can turn the volume up and down and change tracks and stations but thats about it. I'll hit the reset button and it does the same thing. I did just notice that i iopened the unit (Had the screen tilt down) and noticed it was pretty hot behind there so im thinking the hard drives to
