  1. Thanks for that - I am surprised to see that the radio stations in the US actually transmit such detailed RDS data (with song info and all) - since I had always thought only Europe uses RDS extensively. Here in Australia, you can't buy RDS radios, and even if you get a stock RDS radio (say in a European car) then only 1 or 2 radio stations even transmit their station name on RDS - let alone what song they're playing! When I was living in Europe, RDS was great, every station sent it's name, the song they were playing, sometimes the upcoming program would be scrolled across the screen, or tr
  2. Some new info: When I compared the UK "version 2" firmware update to the US/AUS "version 2", there were some differences but only in a few files including data.zip. Also the UK version upgrade had a whole bunch of extra language files in the igo/content folder, about 15 extra languages. Note that when I compared the version 2 updates between USA and AUS, they were identical. TO see for yourself, download the updates from UK and US sites, and compare with WinMerge freeware.
  3. Yes I was just wondering what else putting the AVIC in "K mode" might do.... while trying to decide whether to do hardware of software bypass Thanks for looking it up though!
  4. If this really was FM then likely the data was shown with RDS, which is more popular in Europe and Australia. The F90BT (available only in the US) does not have RDS, so you won't see song information for FM.
  5. Yes that sounds about right. If you really want to keep the acc delay, you have two options: 1) If your acc delay is just until you physically pull out the key, you should be able to tap the "key sense" wire from the key ignition switch. 2) Get a CAN BUS adapter and install it behind the radio, wiring to that third unused connector (you would need to get the pinouts for your exact make/model/year, and then using the adapters "IGN" wire to trigger your AVIC.
  6. Is the noise cancelling built in to the "array microphone" or does the jack just have 3 or 4 pins for BOTH the both microphones and let the headunit sort the noise out..... former would be better to upgrade the old AVICs..... maybe someone with the Parrot PARROT MKi9200 kit can confirm?? (it has same microphone, as Pioneer just use Parrot OEM stuff)
  7. There is some speculation here Gee I wonder how the first person discovered this bypass then? Did they just go around grounding random unwired pins while driving around...?
  8. Thanks for that detailed report! It seems TMC and SUNA are alive and well and that's great. Respect to you 34by151 for "enabling" this feature with your map package!
  9. It baffles me as to why Euro and AUS units would not have this function.. so strange! How useful are the SUNA TMC messages? Is it a well-implemented system with adequate traffic info? Or do you still find yourself running into traffic....
  10. Twelve pages in this thread, and NO ONE has explained, with the hardware bypass, what exactly the "new mute wire location" pin is...... Yes we all know it works, but what is this pins official function? Does anyone have a clue? Is it written in the service and repair manuals you can download from here? Someone please tell me to put my mind at ease
  11. Yep that makes sense. What doesn't make sense is why the Australian version would not show the RDS data, even though it has TMC which by definition requires RDS hardware.... so it would have to be some software problem? (The other issue it is difficult to test whether RDS names are being displayed in Australia because hardly any radio stations here bother to transmit an RDS name, slackers...)
  12. Thanks for that information lacehim! The tuning is not a problem, as all the Brisbane radio stations are on non-even-decimal frequencies like in the US. The lack of TMC though, I wonder is that hardware or just a software difference? 34by151 - When my F90BT arrives from the US I will get you a copy of the flash disk that comes with it. So you're saying the aussie units don't even display the station name / RDS ? That's ridiculous. Does the US version show the RDS station name? Guess I'll find out. Here in Brisbane only 1 single station has an RDS station name anyway, that's NOVA FM.
  13. Actually the hardware in the AVIC F does not support A2DP - The AVIC F has a Parrot CK5000 OEM module inside, and if you google it, you will see that only the Parrot CK5050 and up have A2DP profile - the one in the F series only has CK5000.
  14. This is great work. I want to import a US F90BT instead of buying the much more expensive Australian F900BT. I'm just trying to make sure that they will be equivalent.... Firstly, I have downloaded BOTH U.S. and AUS files for the "V2 update" from the respective Pioneer US and AUS websites. Doing a comparison between the files and directory structure of both updates with WinMerge reveals they are exactly identical - this is good. Secondly, the attached Pioneer document states the only difference between F90BT and F900BT in hardware is the 4V preamp output - this is good. Thirdl
  15. Thanks heaps for this, 34by151 !!! Would you please be able to start a CHANGELOG or readme.txt so that user who would like to use other data.zip mods in the future know what the differences are? (say for example someone wanted to use a data.zip from another modder than GTIMatt...) Thanks!
