  1. Will be following your progress, good luck. I suggest reading this thread if you haven't already: http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=26523 The OP got the internet working using a SD WiFi card and tethering it to a phone. The Droid can act as a hotspot, but you would still need a way for the unit to connect to the Droid. Also, I don't really know what this means, but this is a quote from that thread about the bluetooth capability of the AVIC unit:
  2. I finally got around to applying this theme and it more than exceeded my expectations. It looks great on the AVIC and matches my black interior better than anything I had in the past. Thanks abb, great work. That iPod wheel image makes it look actually functional and it reminds me of an old WinAmp skin I use to have. Really impressive. My unit is on that iPod screen 90% of the time so I love it. Every time I make an update to this unit I feel like I bought a new car, this update is by far the most visible change I've made so far. One hopefully small request: Image 746_32K_AV-106_32b is the
  3. love the color scheme abb, looks like great progress already.
  4. once you figure out how to get into testmode it's very straight forward. the screen looks just like Windows because it is Windows. "hacking" the AVIC is simply copying and pasting files back and forth. read the FAQ thread to get the testmode files and follow the first post in this thread to get the bypass: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=17715 Copy file from AVIC, make changes in Notepad on your computer, copy file back to AVIC.
  5. That blue one worked out great. The black portions of the images are actually black, which was an eyesore. I tried to recreate those images so the black part is invisible, but it was a failed attempt. So, I took the container image from your original image.res, cleared the vertical partition bars, and made a background image out of it for the new container. All four images had to be changed. I love how it came out.
  6. I found the three image files that make up the progress bar. I'll go ahead and make the changes myself. Thanks for the replies, gents.
  7. oh, i guess that IS how you put an image on the post.
  8. not sure how to place the picture on the post, but i attached the picture i took on my phone. i hope that's enough. if not i will try again when i get home, photobucket isn't accessible at work for me. you can clearly see in the attached picture that the progress bar runs below the shadowed part of the container behind it.
  9. I replaced the image.res and it worked like a charm. This looks great! A bit on the bright side in my car, but otherwise the AVIC unit no longer looks like a digitized eight track player. Great work, thank you. A couple of comments about the iPod screen: The checkered look of the background makes the font of the song/singer/album information not so clear to see. The letters blend into the background in parts and the brightness makes it hard to read. That background could be darker and less vivid. The background looks great when the album cover is maximized, however, since that makes th
  10. the new 2.1 will not work with the old 2.0 data.zip file. i'm still working on it. it will be released later. dragon (or abb), does the current version of the image.res file work with the current version of diaftia's mod (last updated 1/14/2010)? i've been following your conversations but I don't remember seeing whether it is safe to use or not. I don't need a package, just need to know whether i can upload the image.res to the mod i already have on my system. this looks great and i want to finally try it out. thanks for the work you put into this dragon, it was real nice o
  11. No PAC unit here, and I have never had the speaker issue, in fact the speaker/one channel issues are most likely not related to the ipod not being recognized upon boot since the "lost ipod" was a new "feature" with 3.x for a lot of folks, they were fine on 2.x understood, i don't think this problem is new though since i had the lost ipod problem since i bought the unit over a year ago and it seems many have reported the problem simply got worse after 3.0. more people are experiencing it as a result, but certainly not a new problem for many. unplugging and plugging after starting the
  12. After reading about both this problem and the left/right channel sound problem I'm thinking the source of the issue is the same. I have both issues, where my left channel is completely gone and/or my iPod is not recognized at start up. Both problems go away if I unplug my iPod while my car is running and re-plug after about a minute or two. It has to be one of two things: the AVIC unit is still going through startup for that long and the unit is simply not ready at boot to accept the external iPod connection, in which case it is a software issue and would explain why it either doesn'

    Droid

for scarz i had the same problem when i got the droid back in november. a couple of things i did that seem to have worked for me: i cleared the memory on the avic unit from the main phone menu (of the avic unit and not the phone) then re-synced. when syncing the first time the droid had a confirmation message in the notification pull-down just like when mounting it as a usb device on a pc, you have to go there and confirm the connection. i don't remember seeing that message on the droid again since the first time. editing to add that i have a 700bt, not the same unit as the OP. but the con
  14. Try what Mark said above before taking anything apart if you haven't already. I've had this happen to me a couple of times while messing with the unit and every time the setting for AV1 had changed to something other than iPod. The iPod screen will work like it's suppose to even if this setting changes to something else, but you won't get the sound which is what you are describing.
