I have concluded that for me the Navteq POI file for California seems to be missing too much and is probably why the files are so much smaller. BorisM recommended running both Navteq and TeleAtlas POIs for your main state but that would not fix the destination announce problem. We were discussing the left/right destination announce. With the Navteq POIs the announce seems to work very good, but Navteq does not have as many POIs. With the TeleAtlas POIs the left/right destination announce is a hit or miss situation with many wrong announces. N-S-E-W found that this seems to be due to the TeleAtlas POIs using longitude/latitude numbers that are not accurate enough and thus showing a POI that is in the middle of the street. using both sets would be great for having more POIs but would not fix the left/right announce. It seems that the Navteq POIs have less POIs in it than the TeleAtlas POIs. I will test further today, but yesterday I went to search for a Joann's fabric to see where the nearest one around my area was (I know there are several). It only listed a few and if I remember correctly it said the nearest one was 201 miles away. With the TeleAtlas POIs I got quite a few, the closest being just a few miles away (although that one no longer exist). My incorrect left/right destination announce seems to have been fixed by replacing the stock TeleAtlas California POI files with the Navteq California POI file. Thanks to N-S-E-W for helping me work through this issue to figure out what the problem was. I hope nobody takes my comments too seriously because I love all the hard work the modders around here do. I am just giving my opinion as to whether or not I like a particular feature or not and how I think some should be implemented. I changed my California POI to the Navteq one you posted. I did a new POI search for the Pep Boys with the Carl's Jr. via point and they both announced on the right as they are supposed to. I also tried direct address input and that worked correctly too. I tried several other POI points in the area and they all worked correctly also so apparently the Navteq POIs are much better. Sorry to have upset you. I am working with you right now to try and see if we can figure out anything to make this announce better. I understand what you are saying but am giving my opinion (and it is just that, my opinion not "denouncing") as to whether I think this is any good. If doing a POI search gives me incorrect announces at least half the time then in my opinion it is useless, but it may be valuable to others. That is something they have to decide. I did more testing today with both locations I tested saying they were on the left instead of right but both were POI searches. Here is exactly what I did today. 1. I deleted my flaskdisk and restored from backup so that I knew it was factory again. 2. I verified my maps are the same version as yours. 3. I put the hacked ezrider on my AVIC. 4. I modified my a copy of my original sys.txt fle to add the announce info then put it on the AVIC (F7010BT). 5. I did a POI search for Pep Boys 11980 Central Ave Chino, CA 91710 and added it as my destination since I previously tested that locati

No matter if you approached from the east or west samantha said it was on the left each time? So far I haven't experienced anything like that. The only place it's been wrong is when my home address was entered, the map data had my house on the north side of the street so it said I reached my destination on the left. I then programmed my house with an even number and it's been right since. I'll have to try it coming from the other direction some time and see if there's a difference. From my experience, at least in my area, the left/right dest. announce is very unreliable. I am getting about a 50/50 correct to incorrect ratio on my limited testing here in the North Orange County and West San Bernardino County areas of Southern California. Maybe this is why Pioneer did not turn it on. I will leave it off due to this and would prefer it not be on by default but could live with having to change it if it is implemented like that. If possible an on/off choice in the settings would be the way to go. JMO.

As I said for the Fry's location, when approaching heading west it would tell me to go past Fry's make a u-turn then end up approaching Fry's heading East (due to the u-turn) and be told it was on the left. It would not tell me I arrived until I made the requested u-turn and go back like it wanted. I did not try turning u-turns off. Also there is a light to turn into the Fry's parking lot so the nav is a bit screwy for this. I tried several other locations on my way home from Fry's and it was about 50/50. F.Y.I All I tried the left right destination announce using Samantha and found it too unreliable. About half the time it announced the destination on the wrong side of the street. In one case I know the nav knows the destination is on the right but the announce says it is on the left. Example of wrong announce: I went to Fry's Electronics in Anaheim, CA. Deleted Canada, Hawaii and Alaska mod and got the mod installed. I found the ding before nav announces annoying and could not find a setting to disable it (maybe I missed it). I used the flag version but found the clock too hard to read in that version, which would require a font color change if I stick with it. Also when selecting a destination after POI search it does not let me see where it is on the map before selecting it as my destination like the stock Pioneer does. Tried to install your mod today and when trying to copy the gfx folder over it told me I was out of space and could not copy all files. Is there something I need to do before installing this. I installed Diaftia's mod yesterday to check it out and that worked fine. After your mod could not be completely installed I deleted the APL2 folder contents and restored from backup. I also deleted my userdata and restored from backup. I am now running on the factory version again. Pioneer official 3.02 update. Let me know if you know anything I need to do. I am stilling waiting for someone to answer as to whether the data.zip file on page one is the latest since it says updated 9-25-09. Also does this include the destination on the left/right setting in sys.txt or do I need to add that myself. I use Samantha (US). I like the stock day color scheme from the 3.0 software so what do I need to do to keep that color scheme. Also I want to change the compass to the one that displays the N-S-E-W bar like the attached picture. Where can I find the info for that. Off topic but... I do computer work but I am nowhere near Philly. I am in So Cal. I just started my own computer service but the Economy Sucks!!! big time here in So Cal so I am not getting many calls yet. I have to keep pounding the pavement (so to speak) to drum up business. Seems the people that do call want you to work virtually for free.

I have not even modded my unit yet (no time) but with the 3.0 update and maps plus all the possibilities here I have nothing to complain about.

Boris have you try this yet? I just downloaded it but doubt I will have time to try it for a while. I am fairly busy at the moment. Just wondering if you got it working correctly or found any problems with this port. Take care Boris.
