  1. After having a D3 in my Vette for nearly 2 years and living without it for the last year (sold the vette Feb 09) I decided to take the plunge with a x910 and I can tell Pioneer has been doing it's work with the upgrades... It is night and day with the ipod function and voice recognition (just to name 2 upgrades)... If you have any question on which unit to get, don't hesitate on the x910, it's far superior to the D3 (except maybe for the boot up time, but I can wait 30 secs while my car gets warm).
  2. UPDATE: I just looked at the 8" OEM speaker I removed and now see that it says it's a 2 ohm speaker... what are my options? Thanks again...
  3. Yeah I bought the 3022cf 3.5" and the 5022i 5.25" Infinity Reference series to replace 4 of the speakers... There is also a center speaker in the middle of the dash that a lot of Corvette owners remove that I decided to remove rather than replace, but I think I'm missing that extra sound, so I might go ahead and get another 3.5 for that spot too. I had a guy over at the Corvette forum recommend another JL speaker: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_12352_JL+Audio+8W0-4.html I'm not sure of the output of the OEM amp and am waiting for a response from someone over there, so hopefully some
  4. I feel like an idiot... I tried everything, but hooking up a different speaker to that connection. I hooked up one of the 5 1/4" speakers I took out yesterday and it looks like I have a blown speaker after all. I guess I'm about to purchase replacement speakers for those two spots too... Thanks for your help even though I should have thought about it myself... FYI... I replaced the two 3.5" in the doors and the two 5.25" in the rear with Infinity speakers (lower end because I'm not ready to put an aftermarket amp yet) and now will be looking for a replacement for the two 8" that are
  5. One of my front door speakers (8") doesn't work 90% of the time and was wondering if anyone had any ideas of what I need to look at to fix the problem. AVIC-D3 has been installed for about 13 months (I'm not saying it's a D3 problem) and my driver side speaker started acting up about 5 months ago... at first it was just a popping sound, but now it doesn't work at all for the most part unless it feels like it, then it starts working for a while then goes out again. Today I replaced the 3.5" door speakers along with the 5.25" rear speakers and checked the connection for the 8" speaker on
  6. I had this problem when I first installed my D3 also... there is a setting in one of the menus to change the power from ANT to selection or something like that... it's a simple button to push. I'm sure you've figured this out already, but let me know if you haven't and I can look at my system and give you a better idea. I think it a problem with the way the power is set up with the amp, but there is a work around...
  7. http://www.divx-digest.com/software/3gp_converter.html This is what I use to convert videos into the mp4 format that can be played on the Ipod... I have about 80 music videos and 20 or so Howard Stern's loaded on my Ipod now (along with a few GGW videos to wow my friends with). This little program doesn't have many options, but it works like a charm. Just drag and drop your video file into it and it starts converting... You can choose the bit rate (maybe 3 options) and the output folder. Check out the torrent downloads for a bunch of music video downloads. There are some that are al

I've used Garmin, Magellan, and Tomtom along with my current D3 install... and all units have their faults. Common sense can get you through most problems with any of the units, and I've been very happy with my D3. I guess it depends on which features you NEED to have, because I've been impressed with the Tomtom plus features on the unit I just bought my girlfriend for Christmas. Are there any certain features you are worried about losing with a switch?
  9. As stated above... I'm just confirming that you do not have to touch the Ipod at all when listening to music, but if you change to video then you need to touch it to get the video started. If you put a bunch of videos in a video play list, then you can watch them continuously without touching the Ipod. If they are in the play list you can even use the 'next' and 'previous' buttons on your D3 to select a new video in the play list. There are other topics on this, but since you asked the question I figured I would put my 2 cents in... I have my Ipod mounted in my center console and ha
  10. I'm thinking of changing out my speakers in my 05 C6... where did you mount the amp? Did you change the speakers out with OEM sizes or did you use the speaker cut outs that you can buy to use more standard sizes? How has the quality been with the new speakers and head unit? I've had my D3 for a few months now and have loved every minute of it. Where did you mount your Ipod? I mounted mine inside my center console - drilled a hole and ran the wire there...
  11. I would say get a D3 with an Ipod... that way you can keep the NAV DVD in the drive and not worry about it... that's what I got and will never look back. I have a video ipod (60 GB) and don't even have it half full and it contains every CD I own along with many music videos and ripped Howard Stern On Demand shows to watch while I'm on the road (kicks ass!!!). I guess it would matter which features you're looking for too... if it's something the D3 can't do then it's a no brainer, but I vote for the D3.
  12. That's the one that I'm using also... my 'vette is black, but I like that one the best...
  13. http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6421&highlight=corvette There is a link to a few C6 backgrounds... I noticed you had a C5 background on your vette...
  14. I ran mine under the stearing wheel (hidden under the panel) then I ran it up to my visor, hiding it under the panel between the side window and windshield (I didn't have to take it off, I just slide it into the open crack all the way up). I then fastened the wire to the visor rod using a zip tie. It has worked great being on my visor. When I have the top off I just flip the visor down half way so the wind doesn't interfere... It seems to work fine and I haven't had any complaints. Thanks...
  15. No Problem... after looking around a little it looks like it may have been installed incorrectly, but this the way I fixed mine. I don't know if it's right, but it works. Check out my other post with all of the backgrounds that I've made myself and found elsewhere. Post any that you've been able to find or make if you don't mind. I've requested other users to make some for the C6, but none have been made yet (other than the ones Ducatiboy made a while back). http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6421 Follow the link above - you must be logged in to see the attachments.
