I've added all the items to my cart, applied the discount, and printed it out. I plan on bringing it to a local Sound Advice and see if they'll price match it. Just a suggestion to save you a few bucks.

The only thing he seems to be "wrong" about is that not ALL retailers will get the unit so inexpensive. However, large chains buying in bulk will more than likely receive the units well below retail. Like CC, Best Buy, etc... Why would Pioneer post it at 1000 if it's going to cost more at their biggest retailers? That makes zero sense. They would post a higher price if anything, so that everyone priced below Pioneers msrp seems like a "deal". Most chains will set the price at msrp, sometimes with a slight discount (except crutchfield lol). Smaller guys will try and compete by going like 5

So the break down is: The D3 has ipod integration w/ video, bluetooth, xm radio / navtraffic, supports WMA playback, iTunes AAC playback, Divx playback, customizable buttons and interface, and can be had for 850 with full warranty. All which the avn5500 does not have. The avn5500 has an adjustable 6.5" screen, dual disc drives, and costs around 1200 with full warranty or less without. But, is available now. Those are the biggest differences I could find, otherwise theyre basically the same. To me, the most important being the ipod, bluetooth, and custom colors so its looks like it

As far as I know, Eclipse doesnt offer bluetooth either. And the D3's colors can be changed to match your interior. Not sure of other differences, but Eclipse just didnt have all the features I wanted when I was shopping around initially, thats why im going with the d3. Not to mention, the D3 lists at 1k, but you can already get it from Crutchfield at 850.

What about smaller hideaway style cameras? For those of us who dont want one mounted on our plate.

Ive been quoted 250, not too bad. Im looking for it to be wood/vinyl or something that looks stock, instead of fiberglass.

My car is a 2000 Trans Am, the stereo is only a 1.5 DIN. But ive seen a few custom jobs, with custom bracket and bezel it will fit, barely. lol Heres a custom job with an eclipse double din. Good idea dascsh, I'm gonna bring a printout to sound advice as well. Hopefully they'll hook me up with a cheap install too, because I need a little custom work to make a double din fit in my car. And thanks again for the discount code! Only 1118 for the Avic-D3, iPod Adapter, Sirius Tuner, and Bluetooth Module. Now thats savings!

lol Still no word on my end either. But please post it up as soon as you hear something... anything! I'm going to start laying down the wire for the new system this weekend, the sooner this comes in the better.

Also, you can more than likely just keep the nav DVD in the drive at all times, and purchase a pioneer 6 disc changer to add. problem solved.

The only local retailer I found that said he could get one soon wanted to charge me like 950... so im going to wait until I can get one for around 800 somewhere else. I just have no clue where to look..

I found a local dealer today, he spoke with 2 of his distributors. One said March and the other said a couple of weeks. So we'll see. I'm going tomorrow to put down my deposit.

Palm Beach County. I've been looking at Best Buy and Brands Mart USA. Sound Advice is close-by but way too expensive, they'll charge me full MSRP.

Think its possible to pre-order this unit at a larger chain store? Like Best Buy or something? Because I cant find any authorized dealers locally... which is strange.

Yeah it def seems like a better buy for the $$. I dont need all the fluff, the only thing I'll really be giving up is the voice recognition system, which is just cool. But I can live without it for a g-note. As for the HDD navi, and only a CD or DVD at a time, if that becomes a problem you can always add the 6 disc changer. And then have a one up on the z1 unit. lol The rest is fluff imho. So March is the set time frame. lol Man I hope that sticks, or moves closer. I dont want to have to buy a temp HU.
