  1. Ok, now after having this thing in my dash for a little more time to play with it, I have a few more things to say. First, I don't know what everyone is talking about this thing having major outdated maps. I plugged the address of the house I am having built in an area that didn't even have streets in the area 2 years ago. It found the exact road it is on even if it didn't ask for my house number (I might have done something wrong here tho). I was shocked at how accurate the maps seem actually. Maybe they have spent alot of their attention to detail on Canada. That is most welcome change to th
  2. If I were to have gotten such a deal I might have considered it too - just for kicks. On paper, it sounds like a sweet unit but upon your first writing on kenwoodforums.com I see I would really not like that unit. I am going to be taking a look at those vids when they go up tho just for curiousity sake. Plan on grabbing a JVC NT3 anytime soon? lol
  3. Why do you put yourself through such torture?... One Kenwood was enough to turn me off that brand for a time. If I ever consider them again in the future it will only be with a helluva discount and some serious research (of the hands-on variety). What happened to the X910 anyway?
  4. Thanks once again VBlue. I can live with having to go to the faceplate to change radio stations the few times that I actually use the radio anymore. The lack of proximity alert is a real bummer however. Oh well. That is definitely not enough to make me want to even think about Kenwood for even a second. It will be interesting to see if this year's Kenwood's are any better than last year. My guess is yes but only slightly. IMO, JVC might just have passed them actually. That new NT3 has me slightly intrigued.
  5. Oh, and it is true. The Pioneer PAC unit kicks the living crap out of the Kenwood equivalent! I hated that thing on the last setup. I absolutely love it now. It actually works like it should and how it did with my factory deck setup.
  6. Ok, first I will apologize if this has been addressed before. How does one change radio presets via the steering wheel controls? Mine will only apparently move up and down via frequency. Is there a setting in the system that I missed to change that? I have only had a few mins hands on with this new nav but I have read the manual cover to cover. My first impressions, this thing kicks the shit out of the Kenwood 814 I had! The iPod interface is a thing of beauty for sure. I mean I can actually move between songs with no delays! The voice activation I have so far had hit or miss luck. Usually the
  7. You made the right choice as I did as well finally. After grabbing the DDX 814 last year a meer 2 weeks before the Z110BT came out, I finally just corrected that situation. The 814 I never could get to sound right until I got a $1k external processor in place. With that processor now, I have no need for a crazy eq or DTA which IMO are about the only reasons one would jump for the kenwood models. IN the end, it was the retarded iPod interface that made me make the switch. I am getting my Z installed on Tuesday and absolutely can't wait to play with this thing. I have even heard the PAC SWI unit
  8. Only way Pandora will work in Canada is if you can hide the location from them. I have accomplished it on my home computers with tunneling through a VPN server basically. I have tried it on my iPod Touch while at home but can't get the app to open at all. That is when I can get the VPN to connect at all that is. It was finicky when I first installed it but it just won't connect at all now unfortunately.
  9. I got the same story here in Canada. I really feel this to be true too as I have heard several people on here stating that. Also, why would a rep lie about that? It would make no sense for a rep to do so. If anything they should be totally denying that as to get people more interested in their new 2010 products. I am anxiously awaiting my Z110BT any day now. I felt comfortable enough to shell out another wack of cash for a replacement H/U. I will be looking for that update later this year too.
  10. Site unseen going strictly by the info available on these three units, I'd say the Kenwood 9960 would be superior. HIstory has also told me that it is likely to be an unreliable unit and won't likely work as anticipated. The reason I went back to Pioneer with the Z110BT and I will be updating it to Z120BT when available. Maybe the 9960 will actually live up to expectations this year but for the $2000+ tag on it, I am not willing to take that chance once again after getting burned with the 814 last year. At least we can be pretty certain as to what the X920BT and Z120BT will perform like when t
  11. The answer to that question would be yes for most people but I have heard that the Z120BT will have more ram and hence be faster than the Z110BT. That is just speculation at this point even if I heard it from a Pioneer rep. There will be an update released that will essentially make the Z110BT a Z120BT around the same time as the release date for the 120. That is what I have heard anyway and one of the reasons I just picked up a Z110BT actually. It is a much cheaper way to go at this point in time even if it is a little risky as to whether it will be exactly the same as the 120 after that upda
  12. The Z110BT has an awesome IPod interface which is what most people use for music these days. It also has sd card support too. I have never really played with the old Z series but I hear they were much slower in operation and the voice control was much less efficient. I have heard the Z3 started a wee bit quicker and had a few extra nav features however. I just bought a Z110BT myself and am patiently awaiting its arrival.
  13. My installer said that both units are almost like prototypes and were still being worked on programming wise. They were definitely stripped down. For us either unit are about 2 months away; maybe longer. You guys down South could see either sooner tho as usual. I sure hope this new update to 120 works smooth. I guess we'll all have to wait and see. I know the 110BT is definitely more what I need than my old Kenwood junk even without the update. I am really looking forward to using this thing on a daily basis. That is, once it arrives via US Snail through Canada Snail.
  14. I think that might be the case too as those that have switched from the Z110BT have all said the same thing. I am not really into hacking the unit myself so I think I will be more than happy with the unit when I get it in. I will be even happier when/if I get that upgrade to the Z120BT firmware however. I just got back from our local international car show. It was cool to see the Bentley's and Mausurotti's and especially the Spyder. I was really drooling over that last one. lol Oh, if I was only made of money. My installer had a booth there too. This was the most interesting part actually. He
  15. 1st. Cartoys is an authorized dealer. They are listed on the Pioneer website to this effect. Not to worry there. As for the Bluetooth quality, I have only recently heard any complaints on that and only from this site. I, personally, am not worried about it at all. Then again, I can probably count on one hand how many times I have made a call from my car too. I bought the thing for IPod control more than anything else probably. The voice control for IPod is something I am really looking forward to too. I have never had a nav before so I am sure I will be ecstatic to have one in my car and proba
  16. That's a great deal and a way I was looking to go but went that route with Cartoys at a slightly higher price. I am still happy however. 6Ave kept fluctuating their prices too much on Amazon for my liking. I mean it was swinging by $400 within a 12 hour span and it did it about 6 times within a 3 day span. That is insane. You definitely hit it right tho.
  17. I will say that it is difficult to do this from Canada without an intermediary tho. They would not mail into Canada (obvious) but they also would not accept a canadian visa either even when I told them that I was purchasing it for someone in the US. I had to get it paid for with a US Visa and then send the money to my intermediary to compensate her. It is looking like all is working out well however. I, too, am going the 110BT upgrade to Z120BT route. That setup is going to be sweet I think.
  18. I had cartoys.com price match with 6Ave. electronics pric`e listed on amazon.com. Make sure you are on the us version of the site not the crappy canadian one as they have only books/cds, etc. As I said, they didn't fully match the price but they did knock off $420 just by doing that and with no fighting with them at all. My contact in the US got it in the mail today via UPS and she is mailing it out to me tomorrow. I can't wait to get this thing in the car. I had to switch back to the factory deck as my old dvd is now sold (thank god). The sound is driving me nuts as I didn't want to pay 2 hou
  19. X910BT can be moded up the ying yang it looks like. Only for the navi tho. If you are into that kind of stuff you might want to look it over. The Z110BT will give you dual zone video, better preuts (2.2 vs 4 v), much quicker turn on, voice control, and a bigger screen (5.8 vs 7 inch) that can be angled while the X910BT offers none of those things. I actually don't think there is any option that the X910BT gives you over the Z110BT but people on here have said the X910BT has a better navi interface but I am not sure if that is only after you hack it. For me it was an easy choice of the Z110BT a
  20. As I mentioned last week, in a different thread, I am waiting for my Z110BT from the USA. I got it through cartoys.com having them do a price match. I got it for $979.99 US and will qualify for the $200 mail in rebate as well. Not including the rebate, I got it for $1050 roughly Canadian and that is including having it shipped to me from my aunt in Oregon. The best price I could find around here (Alberta) was $1600! I am surprised any dealer in Canada can sell a Z110BT at those prices. I got mine from an authorized dealer but I did have to jump through a few hoops to get it done. I had to get
  21. I got my Z110BT coming from cartoys.com. I had them do a price match to 6th Ave via Amazon. They wouldn't go that low but they did drop $420 off their list price without batting an eyelash. That put me at $979.99. They are authorized so I will get the $200 Pioneer mail in rebate too bringing me in at a cool $797.99. I don't think you will find much better price than that for authorized. It is not that much more than what you are saying you can get it for. I think it is worth the minimal extra.
  22. Well, FINALLY, bit the bullet on the Z110BT. I ordered from cartoys.com. I had to jump through a few hoops to get it done and I also had them do a pricematch. The pricematch didn't work but they still dropped their price by $400+ which was good enough for me. Total price for just the Z110BT was $979.99. Sure beats the $1600+ I was quoted up here. I also get to apply the Pioneer rebate and will bring me in to a cool $779.99 for this. AWESOME! I can't wait until it finds it's way to me in a few weeks. As I said, I had to overcome some hurdles to say the least. I might order up the PAC and IPod c
  23. Tell me about it. Well, I am 100% ready to do this now. Once I find a decent price that is. Amazon has been bouncing around so much lately that I almost know that it will drop again. If not, I will go unauthorized for the best price and screw the rebate. My installer is taking out my 814 on Friday morning and I won't have tunes until I get something to put in there. I could get one from him but his best price is $1600! Me thinks not. I could get something now to tie me over until he gets me an X920BT at $1300. I still think my best bet is the Z110BT through the States somewhere. I WILL get a d
  24. Yes, the interface is another large reason too. I really like the looks of the new XM interface on the upcoming 920/120s coming out in a couple months as well. I think I am just going to get this stuff setup and play with it for a while before I go putting extras on however. You gotta draw the line somewhere money wise. I really think just having a really good IPod interface will keep me more than happy not to mention the nav. I have never had a nav before so I'm sure that will keep me entertained for some time. There is also a small part of me that fears the volume will be way way lower on XM
  25. I honestly think that I will follow your suit eventually. I have an 8 gig IPod Touch for my music right now and that is enough usually (if I can access my songs properly that is). I am thinking more and more all the time that XM is what I will end up with over HD Radio as I don't like what I keep readin about the reception going out the window. The usable sensitivity is way worse than the Z110BT's if you are just going by the numbers (9 compared to 15 or so) I think the readings are correct. I think that would bug me more than the minimal amount I would have to pay to have XM. I like XM's inte
