  1. So you got bypass done right? yup sure did, i was watching dvd music videos....well not watching, just playing them, lol and controlling nav on the way to work this morning.i just stripped of the ends of the mute, park, ground wire from pioneer harness, and groud wire on my connects 2 harness, twisted them all up together and put them in a crimp cap and crimped it up. and obviosuly moved the mute wire to new location. What!? So wait... you modified your wiring harness and opted to stay with Pioneers stock Nav setup instead of performing a mod that would do the same thing as the bypass
  2. Bruce, Diafta's set of mod's is what I'm using and I'm very happy with the results. My advice: Read the instructions CAREFULY. Back up any files that will be overwritten (the specific files are obvious as you are replacing them one by one). There are other mod sets out there (I'll die trying seems to have a set that is very good) - you can always chose to return to OEM files and try another set of mods at any time.
  3. Bruce, sorry for the late reply - I only swing by the forum to see if Diafta has released the 3.x mods. Last question first - The Diafta mods completely disable motion lockout of Nav and Video while your vehicle is in motion - Nav while traveling was worth the mod alone. (and avoids messing with the installation/wiring/grounding etc...) Next - The mods only affect the Nav GUI files. As long as you have the original files that the mod replaces and you can boot into test mode, you can restore the system back to non-mod stock at any time. I still have copies of the original User Interf
  4. Chris, Sorry I missed your post - A MONTH AGO. I quit visiting this thread since most people ignore it and ask the same questions in a new thread. I have upgraded the x910 "hacks" a couple of times and I couldn't be happier with the results. The new features make my x910 one of the most enjoyable and functional GPS units I've ever used (and far less patient with inferior Nav units). I'm glad you figured out test mode and the WINCE desktop - I backed up (literally) EVERY file when I first upgraded my unit - not just the replaced files noted in Diafta's mods. By the way - if your not
  5. Alex, Thank you for all the hard work. Your mods have transformed my X910 into the unit it should be and makes the AVIC one of the best GPS units out there. I finally felt guilty enough about enjoying the mods to send a token of my appreciation - you have a new donation on your paypal account. Regards, Ken
  6. I have seen the user "Newman" suggest that our units would perfectly fine if we waited some nominal amount of time for the Avic to recognize voice commands. I'm here to say that NO amount of waiting or any degree of the purple circle countdown allows the Avic (I have a x910BT) to recognize even simple voice commands. I have a mid-western accent which I have tried modifying, speeding up, slowing down, pausing before I start speaking - I still get a 10%-25% success rate for simple commands and a 0% with more complicated commands (usually by changing my ipod to some random artist). If you have
  7. Eloquent response, ill.die.trying - Anyway, I decided to be the guinea pig and use the six mod package on my Avic X910BT tonight. First, this is a great package - it has everything you need to mod an Avic. Thank you to the author - Diaftia: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=26446 Secondly, the package worked perfect on my X910BT! I am now rocking 6 new mods on my Avic - a couple of notes: 1. The instructions do not explicitly state to load the Test Mode into the root directory of the SD Card- I assumed that I needed the system boot files in the root and test mode worked perfectly.
  8. Thanks for the Link - I want to try this on my X910- the "hacked" feature set looks great- but I don't see anyone that has taken the plunge yet! Who is brave enough to try it? Also, I have seen some issues with the Testmode software and the X910 - has anyone successfully used 2.3?
