  1. After consulting with Pioneer support, they unfortunately had only one recommendation: send the unit to them for repair Assuming I get this resolved, I'm thinking I'll not be trusting future updates especially as my warranty period expires.
  2. I'm getting the same failure updating my F90BT from 2.006 to 2.008. No mods or hacks...
  3. I asked Pioneer about a fix, using the email discussion I already had on the go with them on this issue. Unfortunately no response whatsoever...
  4. Confirmed by testing - this was the problem. I'll ask Pioneer if/when a fix will be available. Thanks for your help!
  5. Thanks!! I will definitely give this a try.
  6. I would have to say that yes, I often hit the OK button before the BT connection is established. Is this somehow causing the problem?
  7. I'm having the strangest problem with VR, which I described to Pioneer support in email (see below). They asked me to phone instead which I will do, but wondered if anyone here had any ideas... I'm having a very specific problem with the voice recognition in my Z110BT. It is installed in my 2005 Audi A4, where it replaced the previously installed F90BT. The problem is that it virtually never understands when I use the CALL command. The strange thing is, it easily understands all the other commands I've tried, including complex sequences such as when doing FIND ADDRESS. I've explored the m
  8. I got mine through Amazon (order fulfilled by AudioOnline) delivered to my door for under $900. This was mid December - looks like they can had on Amazon for about $50 more right now.
  9. An update on my upgrade: I was having a strange issue with voice recognition, which I addressed by removing the microphone left over from the F90BT install and replacing it with the one that came with the Z110BT. For some reason I could almost never get the CALL command to be recognized, yet all other commands seemed fine (even complex ones like finding an address). I no longer get these while using the proper microphone. I also took this opporunity to mount the microphone in the factory location, behind a screen/grate in the small overhead console in my 2005 Audi A4. Nice clean look c
  10. My experience locating VSS was different. In my 2005 A4 I did not find a brown/red wire on the green harness at the right side of the instrument cluster (there was a blue/white wire which I tried but did not work). The brown/red wire on the blue harness on the left side of the cluster similarly did not work. Ultimately the guidance that ended up being correct for me was the following: use the blue/white wire behind the driver's side kick panel. A comment I read elsewhere (Audizine?) suggested that this was consistent across model years - it's also easier to reach and tap into than wire
  11. Another mystery solved - thanks! I think I prefer the TOD solution...
  12. Upgrade went well and new unit is awesome (I took the opportunity to replace the previous crappy dash kit with the sleeker Scosche one). The biggest difference is the much higher volume at lower settings. I also like the sound staging feature in the sound settings menu. I was however suprised that on the F90BT install the illumination wire was not connected, and yet at night the map screen would switch into night mode. This is not the case on the Z110BT, as the screen stays in day mode all the time and so I'll need to go in and tap into a line that has 12v when the lights are on (made m
  13. Thanks - that makes more sense
  14. Santa brought me the 110BT so I'll be doing this upgrade shortly. A couple of contradictory things I've read about the power cable - on one hand the claim is that they are compatible (good), however the bypass moves the mute wire to different places on the connector. Are both target pins on the connector free, and it just a matter of using the correct pin for the specific nav unit? Thanks
