  1. I have music setup in a number of folders on my SD card. I play a track and set the settings in config for random, and this folder only. every time I restart the car the setting has reset itself to "media" and it starts playing tracks from other folders. very annoying. all other settings are retained, and the B+ input is definitely run from B+ so its not an issue like that. anyone know what's up?
  2. I have a whining sound coming from my speakers after this install. the sound is not very loud and the frequency changes some with time, all relatively high pitched. seems mostly if not exclusively the rear speakers. it is NOT alternator whine, I'm hearing this with the engine off. with the engine on the exhaust is much louder and drowns the sound out so it can't be herd, that is if its even doing this while the engine is running. I am not using the internal amplifier, its an external 5 channel amp. power wires are run on the opposite side of the car from the RCAs. RCAs are double twis

Then do without. Thanks! That's very helpful.

Zoom in. don't want to. that's not the point. I can zoom in so I can't see anything except for what's right on top of me, but I want to be able to stay zoomed out somewhat so I Can see the route I'm on and what's ahead and still be able to see the road I'm driving on on the map! I'm guessing this unit just doesn't do that. its the only GPS I've ever seen that insists on hiding so much from you. my little garmin's screen is 1/4 the size but it still manages to show me the smaller roads on higher POV levels. Make sure you have the proper state selected when searching. Also whe
  5. same result with CD, DVD, SD, and USB. what's the proper way to do this? I can force them to go into order by their physical location on a disc by using an audio CD, but that kind of defeats the whole point now doesn't it? I want to have a large collection of mp3's, and have them play in order. the way I name the files they would play in proper order whether the unit uses alphabetical, numeric, or alphanumerical ordering. for it to fail it must just read in no order in particular, but even if that were the case, why does it appear to try to keep them in order, but then have just one file here
  6. so I fill a USB key with an assortment of video files in all different formats and plug it in. all clips play in all major video players in windows, in the Z110 I get "unplayable video tracks will be skipped" after "unplayable video tracks will be skipped" as it runs through the entire thing not able to play a single file. I've eventually found a very small selection of videos which will play. they don't appear to be anything different than the others. how do I get these vids to play? please tell me it can be done with a freeware batch video converter.
  7. How does the Z110 order digital audio or video files on CD/DVD/SD/USB? Or more to the point, how do I get it to keep them in order? I listen to audio books often in my car, to keep from having to exchange CDs every 74 minutes its much easier to rip the whole thing to mp3 then put it on a media card or something. But obviously its critical that the audio files play all in the correct order. I have mine named with leading 0's 01 – xxx, 02 – xxx. It seems to work but I had one anomaly. I had one file that was too long (long chapter name) and the Z110 couldn't read it although windows coul

yeah. also disappointed that you can't see the smaller roads until you zoom way in. I'm driving on a back road with the map zoomed to 5mi (which is pretty close imo!) and I'm driving on a road taht doesn't show up on the map. is there any thing to do about this? I finally got the thing to find a location today first time! I think its the 7th or 8th time I've tried to use the navigation, only one success. it was able to take me to a local papa murphy's for pizza. couldn't find my house even though its been here for 2 years. couldn't find my local fed ex place, couldn't even find it when I t
  9. simple enough. the install manual didn't really explain that well. it looked like the unit would dim with the dimmer, its just backwards. but an all or nothing would work just fine. I have a perfect signal for it which I use for my digital gauges, 12V only when the headlights are on, but not with just the parking lights. that's the way I like it.
  10. I recently installed my Z110BT in my Corvette (99) and the dimmer does not work properly. I anticipated this because I've heard from other people with this setup that it doesn't work right. the screen dims opposite the instrument lights. the brighter I have the dimmer set the dimmer the screen gets and vice versa. in most GM cars you can also turn the dimmer all the way off and have the cluster lights off. I love this feature for night driving and using the hud to see important gauges. when you dim the car all the way though the screen goes into daytime mode and goes full bright. I guess it ju
  11. sound quality is great for me, but I'm not using the built in amplifier, I'm using high end aftermarket units. no idea about the built in amp's quality. I have never encountered a voice recognition system that works perfectly all the time. I have a 2010 Ford with Sync and I avoid the voice recognition because it does not work well. most of these systems will learn to an extent and get better at understanding you as you use it. pioneer says they use the latest VR software and technology so it should be on par with the best out there, but then again that's not a 3rd party claim. I have a

Are there any map updates for the Z110? I see them for sale on pioneer's web site. my 110 is only a couple months old, per its manufacturing date on the sticker on it. I just got it installed over the weekend and I'm pretty upset about the maps on it. they are way out of date for a brand new unit. the street I live on is not even on the maps, its been there for at least 2 years. I also have a 0% accuracy rating so far with the navigation, only time I've used it was to find a furniture store. it was listed in the POIs and everything, except it took me to a location about 2 blocks away from
  13. got it back to normal thanks! that's exactly what was happening. I was confusing the scroll mode with the map mode. I could only see the full map in scroll mode and when I hit the mode button or the arrow to go back it would return to cam/map which was not what I wanted, all because I had that setting set wrong for what I wanted, all back to normal now. thanks!
  14. I'm on my second day of using my Z110 after a long extended installation process due to taking on a few other projects at the same time. I can't seem to figure this out. when I hit the mode button to go to the map screen it defaults to the version with the backup camera view in 75% of the screen and the map in the rightmost 25%. I don't think it was that way to begin with, I think I did this somehow by accident but I can't find the setting anywhere. I don't want it to default to the backupcam/map view, I want it to default to the map view. and how do I get back to the backup cam/map versi
  15. the native screen resolution is 800x480. its a wide screen format so you'll get the black bars unless you are playing a wide screen video. but try your conversion to that, should work for you!
  16. Wow, I knew the 110 and 120 had the same hardware, so you're saying that once its out we will be able to buy the software update from pioneer to basically transform a 110 to a 120? except for the model name on the front of course...this is awesome news to me, I bought the 110 right before I heard of the 120 being on its way. I always like the latest and greatest. can anyone confirm this?
  17. actually it isn't the case with this car for some reason. it does have SCR on the factory radio, but there isn't any VSS signal on the connector (haven't actually inspected the service manual on this, trusted people on the forum) apparently this car's stock radio got the VSS information through the serial data cable which forms the network that all the car's computers talk to each other on. odd thing is on the newer C6's there is a VSS wire in the stock wiring harness. but in the C5 best bet is to tap into it behind the cluster. so I guess that's what I'll attempt.
  18. thanks! I guess I'll make the attempt. might as well since I have to replace one of the LEDs in my DIC buttons anyway, the cluster needs to come out while everything else is apart.
  19. Its a C5 Corvette. I think I know where to get my hands on the signal right behind the instrument cluster. its a pain to get to but not the end of the world. I am just nervous about the concept of tapping into a wire like that. how can I be sure that its perfectly safe to do so? how can I be sure that the addition of some other circuit elements won't throw my speedo reading off? I guess most people do this and I suppose no one has ever had a problem before (unless you do something crazy like damage the stock wire, break it off or poorly tap it or something) Is this really a safe thing to do? n
  20. what is the effect of not connecting the speedometer signal? the manual says to always connect it, but it also says that it just makes the computations more accurate, suggesting that the GPS based calculation will still work, but might not be as good. I don't want to hook up this signal if I can avoid it. I know it has nothign to do with the bypass but I don't like the idea of tapping into the speedometer signal. my garmin GPS calculates the vehicle speed to within 1mph, would the pioneer really be that far off?

    Audio input

cool that saves me from having to use the other audio input. since that input is a full AV is it going to try to display the video from that feed also when I select it? since I would be using it for audio only I would want it to display the map while playing audio from the input.

    Audio input

will the small 1/8" audio connector looking thing on the USB cable work as an audio input via a 1/8" stereo plug or do I have to use the RCA aux in to provide an input?
  23. anyone know if its possible to delete the banner across the top of the backup cam view warning that the camera image may be mirrored? I am installing this unit with a camera which can operate in standard mode or mirror mode to solve this problem, I will know 100% that my camera display is correct and not mirrored, I really don't want that message on there warning me of a potential problem I know is a non-issue. any way to do this? TIA
