  1. Right now it is in a cubby at the bottom of my dash. It is nowhere near my face.
  2. As we all know these units don't sport voice control. I found a way around this using the iPhones built in voice control. If you hold the home button for a few seconds to activate voice control as you normally would on the iPhone the voice control pops up and uses the car speaker and microphone. Just say your command at this point like call "foo" and it will call. I have found this pretty handy. What would be cool is if Pioneer made a way to trip the voice command by holding the center button on the app radio. The more and more I use the app radio the more I see I am not giving up functio
  3. It would be great if someone created an app that would utilize those Bluetooth obd 2 transcivers and pulls vehicle dynamics and put them on the Appradio screen. I know this product exists now sans Appradio, but it would be seriously cool to have full vehicle dynamics right on the screen and even alow the setting of certain parameters. Here's hoping app development will get off the ground, that is when Pioneer opens the API to the public finally.
  4. I have found that turning CT on where I love causes time to be off and sometimes day. Either there is a bug or the stations are doing something wrong. Would be much better if they got time off of the satellite.
  5. Try this to fix it 1) Close Pandora 2) Double press the home button to show the suspended apps 3) Press and hold on Pandora and click the little x 4) Restart the phone for good measure. This should take care of your issue provided that this is not caused by a jailbreak installed jack.
  6. I can confirm as well. Start the iTunes video on the iPhone and then touch the Apps icon on the radio. I have done this a lot.
  7. That looks great btw. I am going with a similar setup in my VW. I have had something like this in the past and it has worked just fine.
  8. Yup knew about that. Just wish the slide out was more robust, maybe show info along with controls and a universal back button to the Appradio app.
  9. I have the app radio and VBlue is correct. This is just a conduit for the iPhone/iPod. While the unit does have the iPod controls, it does not overlay any type of popup over any other app that is running. So if I am using Motion GPS Drive, I use the in app function to control my music from the iPhone screen. This is a very 1.0 product but will get better with software updates from Pioneer. I would like to see a hideable info bar that would list currently playing media etc and a universal back button to get back to the Appradio app. Well see what happens though.
  10. Correct me if I am wrong but GM is normally 1.5 DIN unless you make modifications. Crutchfield says the same thing for my 06 VW. Evern though I do have a double din opening, in order to install a radio you need to break out the dremel. I think this is why Crutchfield is iffy on those directions. Advice, just make sure you have the right size opening. As far as the install, check PAC Audio for steering wheel adapters. Everything should be straight forward and well documented on the net. And by all means I suggest everyone try their own install. You will learn a lot from doing that and
  11. Just noticed that Pioneer released a firmware update for the Appradio. This looks to correct some Bluetooth and rear camera issues. Check the Pioneed site for this update: App Radio Firmware And click the Firmware tab.
  12. I am really considering it. Would pair it up with a bitone amps and think this would be an excellent combo.
  13. After much consternation I have decided to sell my z and move on. May go appradio or may fabricate iPad in-dash. I want to thank the mods and the great people of this forum for the helpful hints and commentary. You are an excellent bunch. It's been fun and the z is a great headunit. If interested it is in the buy/sell forum. Thanks!
  14. I have the z110 converted to the z120 via the software update and the FM radio has always had RDS. It only shows the stations name and the song playing. When I save any stations that have RDS, it saves the station name with it.
  15. Guy's hate to break it to you but all of the units since the 110 have had RDS. They just dont support the full RDS specs like traffic alerts. For that on the Z120 updated you will need the traffic module.
  16. MotionX does require a network connection for getting map data, however you have the option of pre loading maps for you route.
  17. What I want to know from anyone from Pioneer or someone who picks one of these up is when you open the appradio app on the iPhone, can you just put the iPhone away and launch all supported apps through the interface on the headunit. That would make this so much better than having to fumble with the phone when you want to change an app. Now make it background aware and this will be great.
  18. My guess is that it shares the signal from the gos antenna with the iOS device just like say the tomtom cradle. This would enable gps apps on the itouch.
  19. BTW, if anyone is interested, the installation manual can be found here: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Car/SPH-DA01_InstallationManual052411.pdf Still looking for the operation manual.
  20. It is using the api's that have been built into IOS for some time now that allow another unit to take full control of the iOS device; essentially transferring the touch screen control and all app access to the resulting unit. This has been baked into iOS for a few revisions but it has not been used or talked about too much. I am happy to see Pioneer being first to the game. This will be revolutionary in the car audio game.
  21. You can always go into the bluetooth setup and reorder the device priorities. This allows you to use one for calls and one for audio etc. My wife and I do this all the time in the car so I can take calls on mine and she can stream bluetooth audio from hers. The instructions for reordering the connections are on page 67 of the devices manual. Good luck.
  22. I am kind of curious about this new function. Has anyone who has purchased the z130 also purchased the optional mic for it and tried the Auto EQ? I am curious just how good it works. IE how close to flat it gets your EQ curve based on your cars internal acoustic properties. Also wondering if it has a built in pink noise generator to accomplish this?

    Z130bt help

You will need the pioneer XM module. This will take the place of your built in XM. You can certainly utilize the existing XM antenna with an adapter or some clever splicing From there I believe you can transfer your account to the new unit. BTW where the heck did you find a Z130 this early? I didn't think they were available for sale yet.
  24. Used the PAC canbus adapter here. Check their site. They sometimes have more documentation there. This adapter has worked flawlessly for me fo a while now.
