  1. Hey, Garrett--I haven't read through the thread, and noticed that only a dozen or so posts are newer than 2009 (at the most), so I thought I would check to see if you have tried using any SDD's . . . seems like they would be far better suited for this type of application . . .
  2. As was the case when I purchased the Z1 and the Z2 upgrade came out, and then the Z3 upgrade after that, I wanted the latest update available, and thought that the new Z110BT might be similar enough that it would be an easy upgrade, but it's an entirely different head unit, with a host of differences. Unfortunately, the new model and the features it has and, more importantly, doesn't have, isn't anything I'd be interested in, so I'll stick with what I have until such time as something that impresses me comes out.
  3. Sorry, none of the reasons are compelling to me: * I don't have an iPod, nor do I intend to purchase one--the ONLY reason I have that adapter is in the event a passenger that rides with me has one, and we want to see or listen to what's on it. * My phone has no problems hooking up to the bluetooth module, and it's one of the latest phones available, a Touch Pro 2 * I can do quite a bit of customization with the Z1-->Z3 I now have, and have added a customized start splash screen to it. * Vehicle Dynamics is the view I choose for everything except when I am checking for POI's - - neith
  4. I hadn't visited this site for several months until a couple of weeks ago; I saw that there's a brand new, shiny and flashy replacement for the trusted Z1-Z3 models, so I started looking into perhaps replacing the one I have. However, the more I read about it, the less inclined I am to buying it. Let me see if I get this straight . . . * The Z110BT no longer has a HDD, so I don't have the option to increase size or speed there (which I've done on the Z1 converted to Z3 that I have); instead, there is the option to insert an SD card. I'm not too impressed with that . . . * It's
  5. I have a Z1, upgraded to a Z2 and then to a Z3, through the kindness of board members who provided their images. I tried using the download from the link provided in this thread, but it was from the Canadian site, so I went to the US site, searched and found the download for the US (which appears to be the same), and tried it as well. No bueno on either one. Everything works fine on the unit; today is the first time I've visited this site in months, and saw there was a new update, so that's why I tried to install it, it just refuses to install.
  6. I just tried to install this update, and it failed; it gave a non-descript error message and just failed. "There was an error and the update failed" This happened on TWO different Gracenote updates--the first one was the 8-1-08 upate and the second one was this update. Each one started out just fine . . . I was prompted to perform the update, and it started and when it reached around 25% on the 8-1-08 update, it failed, while the update failed at less than 10% on the 6-30-09 update. Anybody got any ideas as to what might be happening? Thanks in advance!
  7. I just want to give a BIG THANK YOU to both BigFloppy (for extending the deadline for the "lockdown" on his FTP site, and allowing me to download the image on Tuesday, January 1st) and to Hyperite (for creating the detailed instructions), as well as several different others who have contributed information about swapping HDD's and upgrading the Z1 to a Z2!! I have just completed upgrading my Z1 to a Z2, using the image provided to us and installing it onto a new Toshiba MK4026GAX 40GB, 5400RPM 16MB cache HDD I purchased on Tuesday. I did a lot of reading through several different threa
  8. Hi, All-- I've read through all 42 pages of this thread . . . at the beginning of the thread, and in a few quoted posts within it, Hyperite has indicated that this firware update is for a Z2 ONLY, but I could have sworn I saw a couple of posts where people had upgraded their Z1's to Z2's, and applied this firmware upgrade. I am about to install the Z2 Bypassed image onto a Toshiba MK4026GAX HDD that I ordered, and if I have read correctly, the firmware on this disk image is v2.0000. Can someone clarify whether after installing this image, I can then update the firmware of my Z1 to
  9. Could someone please either provide the .torrent files, or re-upload the .rar/par files to usenet? Seeing as how BigFloppy no longer is making them available at the moment, having the .torrent files or having the full .rar/par files available in the newsgroups would be nice . . . Thanks in advance!
  10. Hi, cntrylvr79-- Would you happen to have a picture of what you're talking about? The SJB in my car doesn't appear to have anything even remotely related to bolts or nuts . . . there is an over-center lever for each harness that holds them in the connectors, but that's the extent of it. As I indicated in my original post, I've been all over the wiring harnesses and connectors in the right kickpanel, and those are the only connectors I've been able to find; additionally, as I indicated in my previous post, the only white wires with a yellow stripe that go to the rear have power to
  11. Hi, All--new here to this forum, and have a question regarding the reverse wire for my car. I have a 2006 Mustang GT with the 5-Speed Automatic, and I am simply unable to find the reverse wire or circuit in order to hook up my AVIC-Z1. Now, no disrespect intended, but contrary to what others have posted in other threads, and contrary to what Crutchfield has stated over the phone to me, there *IS NO* 52-pin connector in the SJB on this car. There is a THIRTY-SIX pin connector, and a 40-pin connector, and a fusebox, but there isn't a 52-pin connector. I have gone completely th
