  1. Two questions, maybe requests.

    1 Is there a way of getting a UK TTS voice?

    2 Is there a mute/unmute button anywhere?

    I have some older loq voices work with Primo 1.0, I will upload them shortly and put them in post #2 of this thread. I didn't particularly like the UK voices because it says "please" before every command. The less chatter the better IMHO.

    To mute tap the top right icon on the map screen, and tap the speaker. That will mute/unmute.

    I guess for me I only use Primo so the plain stock interface doesn't bother me, although the interface of the stock iGo may be slightly modded. After much searching I found a download of Avicnet 2.1 which seems to include a custom mod. Half of mine is still in Russian, I will translate the rest and share it here when I find some time. It probably won't be anytime in the near future though.

    Ryar

    Tried the Primo with audio from any source and it was a great success.Only problem is it seems there is no option to select euro signs,units etc and no tts inenglish uk.Is this something that can be addressed please?I am correct in thinking this versionis Primo 1.0 and that the audio settings anther be selected in 1.1 or 1.2?As always thank you for all your great work on the forum.

    Go to settings and regional. There you can select units, ect. I believe I left the default to English US. I will upload the English UK voices to post #2 of this thread shortly.

    To be honest I got this version of Primo from an Avicnet 2.1 package which I finally found. I am not sure if the .exe has been modified to load the proper dlls, ect or if it natively worked. I looked into modifying the Primo 1.2 .exe to load the required dlls but am way out of my league in preforming such a task. If anyone with knowledge on the subject can help I would be grateful! I noticed the Russian Avicnet threads have disappeared from 4pda.ru and most versions of 2.1 out there are .exe files which ask you to make a payment to unzip :( Too bad, I have a feeling there will be no more updates from the creators.

    One more thing to mention, I finally received my OBDII to usb reader. Although it works perfectly on my laptop I cannot get my AVIC to work with it. I tried a few 3rd party programs as well as the included program with no luck :( It sees that it is plugged into port 8 but no program I have tried can recognize it. I am considering ordering an ODBII to bluetooth adapter and using a bluetooth dongle (avicnet has a bluetooth stack built in which allows dongles to work, mainly for bluetooth modems I am assuming), however I have read it the ODBII bluetooth drains the battery down quickly if it is left plugged in. I am suborn and don't give up easy however, xD and will keep give it another shot when I find some time.

  2. Well, I'm pretty much 100% sure that last time that i Installed avicnet my iG08 went down from version 4.xxx to 2.xxx. Obviously i lost diafta's mod but more than that the UI was not the same as before I put his mod on. Checking in the Settings menu for the version it said I was on version 2 of the software, which is not as user friendly as the later version.

    Am I confused? It is a distinct possibility but I don't think so.

    I would say you are confused. There is no version 2 or 4 iGo8.

    There is FW version 4.0 for the AVIC, which is a file-copy type upgrade, so only a couple of files are different under the APL folder (not APL2), MainMenu.exe and others (this as per Chuck).

    Avicnet has been labeled version 2.03 because the creators started at version 1.0 and worked there way up with each release.

    Again, they are two completely different things thus the version numbers are irrelevant to one another.

  3. My only worry in all of this is that iGO is downgrading to v2, is this right?

    I dunno, when we switched to 1.2 from 1.1 I really missed some of the options 1.1 had. The home/work button and a friendlier overview mode as well as many more options in the GJ settings... I am kind of glad to have all this back. The only think 1.2 had that this doesn't is TTS pro (Are you sure you want to exit the program?) and it supported more voices. Note version 2.0 is not available yet, but should be available soon.

  4. Ryar

    Really appreciate your continued development work with Primo.I for one prefer the primo interface over stock IGO now I am more used to it.Wonder if Chuck has avoided the temptation to have a more intense play with it?Best regards Chuck if you are still around here!

    My pleasure, I don't mind sharing any development I have had in hopes that others may also contribute in improving our units.

    Can someone explain how to load the garmin and tom tom maps, and where to get the maps from?

    There is a link on post 19 of this thread where you can find maps. Post #1 will tell you where to put them on your unit.

    Thank you ryar...

    I will test to modify the settings for volume in the sys.txt. Still hoping that it will even possible to chose every audio source even in Primo 1.2.

    By the way... I don't see the speedcams while using primo. I thought Primo takes the speedcam files out of the same folder as IGo does?!?

    Well, I will try to move those files to the right folder ( Primo\content\speedcam)

    The speedcam files are not shared, you made the right decision copying them to Primo\content\speedcam.

  5. Eam, I have found with our units it is easier to allow the system to start normally and run 3rd party programs after startup, as well as using a kill command on our ezrider process to free up memory rather then trying to start from scratch. Take a look the the "button" program (it is in Primo for Diaftia on the 1st page of this thread). It is a utility that will generate a soft button over top of whatever window you choose (for us mainmenu). Upon pressing it it can be directed to a mortscript file, and in our case it kills the ezrider process and launches Primo. It is a simple method of launching 3rd party programs and controlling certain processes. You would however have to find a way to launch the "button.exe" upon launch.

  6. Hi ryar...

    for example it's a pity that primo only works with playing music form the sd card. It would be realy great to use radio while running primo. I don't know if this is a point that will be possible... In addition to this it seems that I have some problems with the volume in primo. During my first tests it seems that the music volume was varying from lower to higher levels?!

    I found a version of Primo which plays TTS over audio despite the source, and also allows keybind commands to work. So far as the varying volume while in Primo, the volume knob is controlling the systems volume as well as Primo's. This can be fixed by commenting out or deleting

    xaf = "VOLUMEUP" ;Dial right

    xae = "VOLUMEDOWN" ;Dial left

    in the sys.txt. I will upload the version which includes working audio and keys this weekend sometime. Unfortunately it is Primo 1.0 and it will take a little getting used to since we are familiar with 1.2 and it's features.

    He Ryar,

    I'm still trying to get the TMC working.... Since you're in Canada it might be hard to test, maybe you can poin the right direction?!

    I think there are some drivers and sys.txt commands missing, wait until I upload the Primo which allows our audio/keys to work this weekend and give it a try.

  7. Thanks for the info. Let us know if you have any further development.

    Edit: Take a look at this site, maybe there is something there that can be of help: http://forum.gps-clu...opic=15615&st=0

    Use google chrome to translate to english.

    Edit2: With our units when they start up we have a "System Startup in Progress. Please wait." message in startup. If the system does not see the proper files/commands and the message does not go away the unit auto-reboots in approximately 5 minutes. Perhaps something similar is happening on your unit? An easy way to auto-start a program is to edit the startup lines in the data.zip to add a command to start another program. For our units the start.ui is located in the data.zip under data\ui_pioneer\common\ui\start and an added command can be placed under <state st_Start> <script init>. If you add something like: run 'START_APPLICATION "\My Flash Disk\APL2\iGo\run\button\button.exe" ""' (a mortscript file) it will execute the command and start "button.exe". You mentioned your unit doesn't use igo8 however if you can find the file/script where your unit launches programs upon startup it would be possible to run a 3rd party program with the stock interface. If you have a data.zip likely the above procedure will work. Good luck, I hope this helped!

  8. Hello,

    i'm following this topic for quite a long time. First of all I woul like to say "thank you" to ryar and all other users that made this Mod possible.

    I tested it on my EUR Avic F900BT and used the steps explained in ryars manual. It works great without any difficulties concerning GPS.

    It is a great Mod! Unfortunately there are still some open issues (or bugs). So for me it is not yet suitable for everyday use. I hope that this great work will be continued and that there will be further improvements.

    Glad you are enjoying it! Which bugs are you referring to, perhaps I can help fix them?

  9. There may be problems with your sys.txt. If it is calling for drivers (phone, rawdisplay) which are incompatible it will crash Primo. Use as few lines in the sys.txt as possible to start. It could also be a memory problem, in which case you would need add the following to the sys.txt which will allow it to run with a low memory requirement:

    [debug]

    max_memory=35000000

    reserve_memory=1700000

    cache=600000

    Good luck, let us know how it goes!

  10.

    Hi,

    I resolved volume issue launching TestMode.exe at startup using mortscript and with mouseClick command I click "set MUTEON HI" automatically.

    My problem now is stereo after 30 minutes goes in suspend mode (also radio turned off automatically) and I already tried IGO power keys you mentioned.

    I have a question about IGO keys: every time I change sys.txt I have to remove save folder or IGO reads sys.txt even if save folder already exists?

    You do not need to delete the save folder when you change the sys.txt. Also, you can edit the sys.txt using Total Commander, which makes it easier then using a PC and going back and forth frequently. Without Primo running does your unit go into standby after 30 minutes in winCE?

  11. All these commands can't resolve my problem, have you got some idea please?

    Thanks in adavances for your support

    For your low volume issue add this to your sys.txt:

    [dynamiccompressor] ;TTS voice

    compressor=1

    gain=12

    You can increase the gain if it is still too quiet. I'm not sure what is causing your unit to go into standby mode. I have used Primo from wince (testmode) for extended periods of time and never had that issue, but that was on an f500bt. Without Primo running does your unit go into standby after 30 minutes in winCE? If not maybe a different version of Primo would help. A few more lines in the sys.txt you can try:

    [power]

    skip_resume_process=1

    skip_suspend_process=1

    What problem did you have with the sound, and how did you resolve it? Or is the low volume the issue you are referring too?

  12. Excuse the silly question but....I am running my 900 on firmware 3.0.Can you tell me what would be the advantages of installing the above?There was a big difference after upgrading from 2 to 3,so really what I'm asking is it worth it??

    So far as I can tell all it did was disable the gyro and it does not effect performance. If you are not having problems with Primo getting a fix then you should be OK without it.

    As far as the redraw being slow, if you use the Primo w/o iGo8 it shouldn't have that problem. I have also noticed slow redraw with the low memory requirement settings in the sys.txt. I removed the settings in the Primo folder and am happy to report no crashes yet while running concurrently with iGo8. Again, they are:

    [debug]

    max_memory=35000000

    reserve_memory=1700000

    cache=600000

    Can I just overwrite Primo2?

    Overwriting should work, or deleting everything inside the Primo2 folder except the run folder and then copying. Again, I am curious. Why is the Feb version of Primo more desirable? The only difference is the one in avicnet has a lighter sys.txt and no skin enabled. The skin of course can be enabled by going to settings, display and selecting GJ Day and Night in Day Skin Theme and Night Skin Theme.

  13. OK, here are the steps, for f900bt and x910bt users only:

    1) Update the CE5 winCE firmware image using the following steps. For NA units, use the download on the fx3.1 page: http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/27807-fx31-complete-firmware-image/, or you can use this one: http://avic411.com/index.php?/topic/22844-complete-30-install-guide/. For Euro users I have no idea which one to use. If you already have CE5 then maybe all you need is CE6. You could use the one from the Italian thread: http://www.mediafire.com/?48ga7b53x11xbqk. Here is how as per the fx3.1 thread:

    1. Insert SD card into AVIC and turn it on.

    2. When the pioneer logo comes up, press and hold the menu, map, eject and the reset buttons at the same time. When your screen goes completely blank, let go of the reset button but continue to hold menu, map, and eject buttons. This will bring you to a blue screen, telling you to reset the unit (ignore this), you will have to enter the service combination. Press the volume knob in this sequence and you will see * signs for each push: Up, Up, Down, Menu, Left, Right.

    3. Select Wince Upgrade

    4. Select Update SD Format

    5. Wait until it says restart in the bottom center. Reset the unit and leave the SD card in.

    2) After updating to CE5, flash the CE6 winCE image using the same steps as above. It is here: http://depositfiles.com/files/0gkvldr2i

    3) Copy AvICnet on to your unit. Copy maps, pois, dem files, ect.

    4) Reboot. That's it!

    One thing to note, the CE6 is not actually an update to Windows CE6. It is just CE5 with a few updates and modifications (such as disabling the gyro).

  14.

    Prefering Primo and was thinking the same thing, would save a few steps on boot up and should run faster overall, here's hoping someone figures it out ;).

    I'm not sure if you are aware, but you can auto-launch a program (eg. Primo) in avicnet. Tap avic net, settings, settings menu, navigation, iGo Primo, and set autostart to yes. Do not auto start iGo Primo w/o iGo8 however or you will not be able to access avic net or it's settings.

  15. One question though. Is it still possible to upgrade iGO withouat affecting AvicNet utilities (and Primo)? I have CNSD200 upgrade which upgrades the maps and tweks the std ui somewhat. As a further question, is it then possible to instal iGO mods like Diafta'sin avicnet?

    It is possible to put Diaftia's mod on to avicnet but it would require modifying avicnet's UI files to work in harmony with Diaftia's and would be no small task. I have no idea regarding whether CNSD200 would work or not.

  16. Thanks for posting ragstar, you got me thinking. After replying to your post I decided to try flashing the winceimg_v6219_wo_gyro.rar image despite having a UC unit. It worked! After flashing and copying the entire My Flash Disk once again, I went for a drive and launched Primo. To my surprise I got a fix immediately! And that was without the gpsgate patch. I restarted about 5 times and relaunched and each time Primo got a fix and showed my location on the map. I guess that winCE image really does disable the gyro. It's funny, I did the hardware bypass and was able to access all settings and watch DVDs while driving. Maybe moving the mute wire and grounding it doesn't disable the gyro after all? Anyways, could you give the image a try? I had the winCE image from the fx3.1 thread prior.

  17. He Ryar I've looked into the original russian Avicnet and found a map for F500 and F900, the last one had a SystemSetting.exe and CommonLib.dll file. Maybe there are different settings used for the F900??? I can't remember the italian or russian Avicnet has the gps problem... do you have time to look into this? Ofcourse I'm willing to test some more!

    Damn, the fix stopped working after a hard reset and I can't get it going again. I thought I had the problem corrected!

    The APL folder is from the Italian mod, with nothing replaced or modified. There are 2 winCE images the Italian mod thread recommends to flash before installing. I tried flashing the first download onto my unit and it wouldn't boot, perhaps it s because I have a UC unit. The link is here: http://www.mediafire...48ga7b53x11xbqk I wonder if the fix for the GPS problems is in the update. After flashing the previous link they recommend then flashing this one for the F900BT: http://depositfiles....files/0gkvldr2i which the file name states is WO_GYRO. I am guessing it disables the gyro which may be the root of our problems. I have done the hardware bypass which I thought was supposed to disable the gyro! I am skeptical to flash any more winCE images because I don't want to brick my unit. Here is the quote from the Italian mod thread regarding the winCE upgarde:

    To take advantage of all the new features offered by this change must be updated to version 6 winCE.

    winCE If you still have 4 then you must first upgrade to version 5 and besides then, using the same procedure, upgrade to version 6. The holders of the model F500BT winCE can not update and then must go directly to the next step. WINCE IMAGE FILES: - WinCE version 5: CE5 - WinCE version 6: CE6 WINCE UPDATE: - Extract the contents of, or CE5 CE6, which will have an SD card therefore contain only the following file: "WINCEIMG.BIN" and "WINCEIMG.CKS." - Before removing any DVD / CD inside the player and / or USB from the USB port. - Then insert the card into the SD 2 contains the image file and turn on the car (do not hold in the battery but only start the engine.) - When it is loading (splash screen "Pioneer"), press and hold down (thumb) buttons + menus + map eject while the other hand (using something sharp) press the little button reset . - As soon as you hear load the CD / DVD player to leave the eject button and continue holding down Menu + map until you will see a blue screen. - Without this, type the access code to enter the service menu, then press the volume knob in the following way, seeing so asterisks appear below: On - on? down - menu - left - right. - Select the option Update EC and besides Update SD / MMC Format . - It will start formatting the memory and updating winCE. - After 2 or 3 minutes it's done. It 'still essential to wait until you see the words appear "restart your unit" and especially the checksum, indicating that everything goes well ... Only then will it be possible to turn off the unit.
